Just thinking of ideas and i was curious if it is possible that there could ever be a card with activated ability requiring it to be tapped that could be activated from in a graveyard. ie a llanowar elves zombie that can only activate its mana ability in a graveyard (tapping a creature in a graveyard)?

Not under current rules. Only permanents (on the battlefield) can be tapped, as "tapped/untapped" is a status only permanents can have.
110.6. A permanent's status is its physical state. There are four status categories, each of which has two possible values: tapped/untapped, flipped/unflipped, face up/face down, and phased in/phased out. Each permanent always has one of these values for each of these categories.
110.6d. Only permanents have status. Cards not on the battlefield do not. Although an exiled card may be face down, this has no correlation to the face-down status of a permanent. Similarly, cards not on the battlefield are neither tapped nor untapped, regardless of their physical state.
Ofc it is not impossible, its just a matter of changing the rules or make a card text that overrides the rules (which is possible through the rules even today).
If people are sick of reading about stuff just stop taking part. You have 100% control over what you read. Simic Ascendancy isn't going to get banned just because you didn't tell someone to shut up on the internet.

It would need more than just making a card, because said card would still be talking about something undefined in the rules.
Like a card saying "destroy target card in an opponent's hand" would still do nothing because "destroy" is only defined in the battlefield.
But yes, the rules can be changed to allow basically anything they want to do. That's why I opened with "under current rules..."
If there was a card in KTK that said it could tap for B mana to add to your mana pool when in graveyard,
the judges of the upcoming KTK Hawaii Pro Tour next weekend WOULD allow any PT player that turned this card
sideways in graveyard and adding + using the B mana to cast or do something, to do this.
The only thing that could stop this from happening is if WotC made an Oracle text change on the card before
the upcoming weekend, but that has never happened afaik with any mtg card that is still in standard.

If there were a card that said "Tap this while it's in the graveyard", and the Comprehensive Rules did not get an update that changed the definition of "status", the most likely outcome is that the card would be banned in competitive play until the rules get updated.
In reality, the likelihood of that happening are as likely as Wizards printing a card that says "when you cast this, stop playing Magic and play Yu-Gi-Oh instead". Wizards is not going to intentionally print a card that does something new without adding that new thing to the comprehensive rules, and while there's a chance something slips through unintentionally, it would only be in an edge case, not something as blatant as tapping from a graveyard.
Even if a rule slips, the head judge in an event can simply trump the rule and say how it works.
Rules and a damn good guideline, but in the end, the headjudge has the final word, and if such an event happens that the headjudge actual fixes a rule on the fly (as you have to make a call) , chances are that the card will get an quick fix right away.
It is very intuitive, but would require way too many rules changes for way too little benefit... it is the kind of design that could be right at home in a silver-bordered Un-set.

Heaven forbid we have any tapping going on in the gy
Narrowminded...
