I was wondering If some of the amazing rules people could give me a hand with a comprehensive rules entry for the Memoir mechanic from my custom set Dreamscape.
For Reference:
Memoir <COST> (When this card is put into your graveyard from anywhere, including after you cast it, you may cast a copy by paying its memoir cost.)
Note I'm aware the "including after you cast it" isn't strictly necessary buts its an important comprehension complexity tool to make sure players realize that they can use it as a kicker effect.
This possible entry draws inspiration from Epic, Recover, and Cipher:
702.XX. Memento
702.XXa Memento is a triggered ability. "Memento [cost]" means "When this card is put into your graveyard from anywhere, you may pay [cost]. If you do, you may copy this card except for its Memento ability and you may cast the copy without paying its mana cost."
The "except for its Memento ability" part makes sure there won't be any erroneous triggers created after the copy resolves.
Draft. I think I am hitting everything important. Subrules b and c maybe a bit more verbose than necessary.
702.XX. Memoir
702.XX.a Memoir is a triggered ability that appears on some instants and sorceries that functions in the graveyard. "Memoir [cost]" means "When this card is put into your graveyard from anywhere, you may copy this card. If you do, you may cast the copy by paying [cost] rather than paying its mana cost." Casting a spell using its memoir ability follows the rules for paying alternative costs in rules 601.2b and 601.2e–g.
702.XX.b Memoir triggers when the card with memoir is put into its owner's graveyard from any zone for any reason, including after a spell with memoir resolves if that spell is represented by a card. Memoir triggers from the graveyard. If a replacement effect has the card move to a different zone instead of being put into the graveyard or if the card will lose memoir when it is put into the graveyard (due to Yixlid Jailer, for example), memoir will not trigger. Memoir will not trigger when a spell with memoir that is a copy and not represented by a card is put into a graveyard.
702.XX.c If a card with memoir is removed from the graveyard after memoir triggers but before it resolves, the ability uses the card's last known information to make the copy.
702.XX.d If a card has multiple instances of memoir, each triggers separately.
Rules entry 702.XXb that silvercut proposed already has such a clause:
... Memoir will not trigger when a spell with memoir that is a copy and not represented by a card is put into a graveyard....

How to use card tags (please use them for everybody's sanity)
[c]Lightning Bolt[/c] -> Lightning Bolt
[c=Lightning Bolt]Apple Pie[/c] -> Apple Pie
Vowels-Only Format Minimum deck size: 60 Maximum number of identical cards: 4 Ban list: Cards whose English names begin with a consonant, Unglued and Unhinged cards, cards involving ante, Ancestral Recall
That is something I was trying to figure out how to make a little clearer without sounding really weird. The first half of cipher is a static ability "If this spell is represented by a card, you may exile this card encoded on a creature you control". Putting that same restriction on a triggered ability "When this card is put into your graveyard from anywhere, if it is represented by a card" seems really redundant because of course a card is represented by a card. Cipher works on spells, where as this only works on the card. I don't know if excluding copying from a copy is necessary or already inherent in the trigger. I tried finding some other similar example, but the Lorwyn Incarnations were the closest thing I could think of that had some rulings that could be used as a template for the weird interactions.
The last sentence of subrule b could probably be split off into its own subrule. It is related, but still different enough that it would be okay and might be better for clarity.

Does it needs a clause to specify that the copy doesn't then trigger memoir again? You can't keep chaining itself.
