For duel color deck, I use full art land, since I only use maybe 4 or 5 of each basic land. Zendikar in T2 decks, Unhinged for UB Faeries deck. I do not have Valakut deck, but I see many people use Unhinged in that deck, which I think looks very cool.
If a mono colored deck, I used common lands. Try to have one art each. Full art land, if too many, start to look rather noisy.
Special care are given for tribal decks: for elf deck, all Forest must be real forest, so no Ravnica or Planar Chaos hellish ones. for casual Kithkin decks, I use only Lorwyn plains. for the Vampire deck, I try to go for medival feel. And Knight deck? Alara, Ravnica and some other lands that show signs of civilization. I know, too anal.
In particular, I like the following land:
Plain: Serra's Realm plains from Demon v. Demonic.
Mountain: Kamigawa above all else.
Alara block crazy sand plain and chopped up cloud Island.
All Ravnica lands are great (together with 2006 Arena ones)
Over the years, Magic has produced so many beautiful basic lands, it's hard to list them all here. Love to have Guru land some day.
I only use Zen full-arts in constructed, especially Avon and Meignaud arts (the Meignaud Island is my favorite land art ever *drool*). Normal lands are just a fat eyesore in comparison.
Says the guy without summer basics and unstamped guru
Lol, there are a lot of stolen things not everybody has. I don't think that is the best way to justify them being the coolest land. Technically you don't have them either, they are WotC's and they were stolen from Cartimundi's facilities. Buying stolen merchandise does not make it yours.
Summers are definitely cool if that is the sort of thing your into but they're not my cup of tea.
I actually very much so dislike Zendikar lands. I hate the frame, and most of the art, while good, is very very tied to Zendikar and just out of place. I don't want my lands to have a bunch of Hedrons and Kor.
Ice Age, Mirage, Fifth Edition, Portal, Portal Second Age, and Saga (islands only). I don't really care about playing with the same land art, since I can keep track of which cards my opponent has seen from my hand, and if someone searches my library and deduces that a certain land is in my hand by process of elimination, then I'll tip my cap. But I do insist that all the lands in any given deck be from the same set.
I like Guru lands, but I see no need to spend the money on them.
I use Mirage Swamps and Mountains, the lightning Plains from Odyssey, full-art cup Islands from Zendikar and Unglued Forests. I don't care for lands that don't have art I don't like, even if it's pricier/more pimp.
Full art Zendikar lands are cool, i have 5 decks (one of each color ) with them,
Then i just do flavor
like
my B/W cleric deck has ravnica lands
my cold zombies have snow-covered
my rotting zombies have phyrexianish-rotty lands
my Elfdrazi has forest old ruins lands
my B/R caress has grixis R/B lands
And stuff like that for all my decks, except if the deck is new and i just put whatever i had in it, but if i like the deck and it becomes stable i immediately try to get matching lands
I've never bought lands other than snow-covered so i don't have any of the very old ones(only have legions and up) or unchinged (want! )
my land boxes are endless anyway
Well...for me at this moment...I just use any old lands. =/ I would love to use some Asian Pacific Lands.(This particular swamp, in fact.) I also want some Kamigawa lands, Full art lands(Unhinge, Unglued, Zendikar), Guru set, Euro set, and Ravnica lands too....
....I should probably consider investing in a complet playset of them...
EDIT: You also can't go wrong with older boarder lands too. =)
I would have used the John Avon full-art ZEN lands, but I actually do like having the mana-symbol in the text box...makes them pop out more when I am playing.
EDIT: I also prefer the modern frames, and try to have each respective color stand out in the art of the land.
Outside of these two colors I haven't found a Mountain I like that is easily obtainable, though I'd love to own this one: http://magiccards.info/euro/en/8.html , and the Beta Mountains are all very nice.
As for Swamps, and Forests, you got me, I haven't found a single one I really 'love'. Perhaps some suggestions?
Legacy Goblins: Unhinged foil Mountains, no Swamps
Geth: These Saga ones (I like the art and can't justify buying Unhinged)
Kiki-Jiki: Unhinged normal
Burn and Standard Goblins: Zendikar
Zoo: Unhinged Mountain, Plains, Forest
Everything else: Whatever random M10/Scars/etc lands I have on hand, since I only get good lands for decks I think are worth it (Elves was just something I threw together on MTGO for like $10-15).
Basically Unhinged is my hands-down favourite set of lands ever (and it's a shame I never play blue because the Unhinged Island is absolutely beautiful), but it gets a it dull if it's All Unhinged All The Time. I'm not a fan of fanciful, uber-fantasy-ish lands (the Zendikar ones are mostly because, hey, I have enough on hand, might as well use them), so I tend to use the ones that have the "realistic landscape" feel to them. Just because it's a fantasy game doesn't mean it has to be over the top.
Still deciding on Ghave, though. I think I'll go with an APAC/Euro theme or something, though that could get very pricey and if I'm dropping that kind of money on basics I'd probably be more likely to buy Unhinged Swamps for Geth. Doubly so since I'm one of "those people" who insists on uniformity in her lands.
The swamp with the moon, the Plains with a Zebra, the sixth edition Quintin Hoover Forest (with like the village in the trees), the Ice Age Island with the easter island rock thing (oops I guess it is on just the snow-covered one.. I do like the other Ice Age islands though). and for Mountains? I don't know I haven't really come across a mountain I've had a real affinity for. I do like the Portal Mountain.

Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I just want people who redraft to admit this:
"I can't draft objectively unless I am able to guarantee that I receive at least 3 rares. I am also better than most average/new players so I want to make sure that I get the best rares and they end up with worse ones. I care more about the monetary value of cards than actually playing the game for decent prizes."
revised lands. not really sure why. i think its nostalgia reasons more than anything. the mirage lands are my favorites but for some reason when i build decks i always use revised lands, and they all have to be the same art.
lol. No by'

Yeah right, one has white borders and the other is stolen. That's like anti-cool.

1) MUST be in the old border
2) MUST not be weird art, I like my lands to be simple.
3) MUST be black bordered.
So far, since I have difficulty in obtaining the lands I like, I use primarily:
This Plains:

And pretty much any Island from Mirage:
