Is this an appropriate place to complain about the new Star City Games appearance? I saw it today and my first thought was 'disgusting'...
I can understand having a persistent advertisement at the top of the screen, but everything that used to be on the left hand side takes up the entire top half of the screen, and makes browsing for cards on their site a much less pleasant experience...
Are they trying to make it harder to find a bargain or something? I will spend significantly less time checking out odd cards on their site and buying fewer cards from them unless they fix it.

I really don't like header that scrolls along with you. While browsing on my android phone the banner takes up over half the screen. And since they don't have an android application my choices are really limited.
I love the guys at SCG, but this is a big fail in my mind.
I prefer to SCG over TCGplayer, because I don't have to buy one card from four different sites just to complete a playset, and I'm too lazy for ebay.
I think they didn't properly take into mind different browsing styles such as android. I personally use the old school Menu bar, Navigation bar, and Tabs bar, which subtracts and extra inch from the screen than, say, Google Chrome would. Add that to the taskbar, and I only have half of my screen to look at cards.

They seemed to have really copied CFB layout, with the scrolling ads at the top left with articles below it and news on the right side. Not really sure why though. Im not a huge fan of the CFB layout. I do like the search bar at the top though. And the link at the top that goes to lists of their decklists from their opens.
From a design perspective, everything "below the fold" (i.e. the sections that begin with "Premium," "Select" and "SCG Organized Play") is a complete mess. There's not enough of a gutter between the vertical sections, and the eye doesn't know where to go. The different size headshots are a good idea in principal, but the execution isn't great. The premium ones should be larger and integrated into the box perhaps.
There should probably be an option to at least hide the advertisement at the top so that it collapses into a toolbar with the buttons and search bar. I'm on a large monitor and the top still feels oppressive when reading articles; I can't imagine how it looks on a laptop or standard screen.
2 major sites have done redesigns lately, both Coolstuffinc and start city. Both make me wonder why they even think they needed to do this, and to me both feel like downgrades.
Both added in those terrible popup menus, making mobile browsing harder. And on starcity, you didnt have to scroll to get to the deck list button. Why hide the things people want most from your site?
Yeah, I don't mind the new layout that much, but I liked the old one much better and don't see the advantage of the new one over the old... at all. What is actually better?

The Quote function doesn't work for me on this forum. Sorry for any confusion created.
I've never been a fan of the site layout. For one, hitting enter doesn't initiate the card search. You actually have to click on go, or the pop up smart search thing. The fixed banner at the top is obnoxious as well. There's literally nothing I care about on the front page.
I personally got irritated every time I was on SCG prior to the new layout because of mass of advertisements that was at the top of the screen. Also I like that no matter where I am on the page I can open up my account info and cart without having to scroll to a different part of the page. I actually like the change

I feel a little better about now after pressing Ctrl/- a few times. I have a little better view of the products now. I like the new colors, fonts, and I don't necessarily hate the lurking header, but I wish it were just a little bit smaller, and that all the left hand stuff stayed on the left hand (there is plenty of room after Ctrl/- three or four times). This one looks snazzier, but it limits my use of the site.

Looks cleaner but function wise this is much worse.
Banner takes up half the screen on my mobile. Wont be able to read articles anymore.
'social' frame scrolls on the touch screen when i try to page scroll
A gap at the bottom of the articles which could just have another article
Need to test this on my laptop to get a better idea.

Overall I think it is an improvement.

i think it is way worst than the original. I can barely see what articles are posted.

I don't, however, like the header that scrolls with you.
