As far as aesthetics go I like this site a little better, it looks a bit more "up to date" and less old. However, they need to get rid of that scroll-with-you header at the top, it takes up 1/3 of my screen due to that ad above it. I also like the functionality of it as well, I didn't use the old site all that much but when I did it felt clunky and not very intuitive, this flows a bit better and points you in the right direction.
I enjoy the layout, but one thing I really hate is the advanced search. It doesn't show the text of the card, or even a picture, without having to scroll the mouse over the card names. It's highly annoying, especially when I want to quickly glance over a bunch of stuff. That only used to happen with the normal search which was fine, but the advanced search should show all relevant material after I click the enter button, especially card text and pics.
Also, the advanced search is missing Return to Ravnica for whatever reason.

I agreed with this. Hope the advanced search will be improved soon.
Don't understand why they lost the full screen width on the desktop view. My only thought is in the future they are going to run background advertising on the desktop view.
The scrolling header is understandable but as the user scroll down the advertising should scroll away and the navigation should lock to the top of the screen
Media queries for a mobile site please.
The home page looks like it has "lost" content. I think it is all there but it does seem that they have rolled back visually on the content offering especially the free content.
The font in the article is more palatable to the eye (hooray for Open Sans!!)
The up side is that all of these things are easy to improve and build on. Here's hoping the SC web team see this as an ongoing project. Well done to everyone involved.
It’s a good start but like other here I’d question why the redesign. I'd be interesting to know the goals that they set themselves before.
It is awful. The abomination that takes up over 1/3 of the screen makes using the site difficult. Can't advanced search or view articles properly. Roll the cursor over the card name to view it and if the link isn't at the top of the now smaller viewer space it gets cut off. It makes me want to throw my monitor at a wall...Terrible change.

My work schedule requires me to work several doubles, so it may take me a couple of days to respond to messages.
The layout is too condensed and instead of being able to select which set you wish to go straight to, you have to now go into a sub menu and then select the set from another page. This is an extra click and slows down navigation. The beauty about the old layout was the link menu on the left which sent you to any set - they used to be all there. I know a lot of people are using ctrl + to make the strip in the middle where everything is take up the page but the more you do it the worse it looks + more scrolling is required. It's like the web designers only know how to use the middle of the page as if it's the only real estate you can use. There must be a rule of thirds at web design schools where it's some form of feng shui for the internets.
I don't think drop down menus work, they feel messy to me; you also seem to have abolished the alphabet links from the card search results. When looking for promo plains I could just hit 'P' and I'd get what i was looking for when I was in that set.
Reminds me of CFB a little. It's an OK design, better than the last one. At the same time, I don't know what you guys are talking about with a topbar that follows you. It doesn't do that for me.
The previous design was almost unusable it was so bad.

Yeah, not a big fan of the new site, and TBH almost seems like a cop-out of Channel Fireball's new layout that is upcoming: http://future.channelfireball.com/
To be fair, CFB's new layout is almost as bad, but for some reason I Like it more than the new SCG layout.
Don't really care about the layout, since there's literally nothing I can do about it, but what really bothers me and will nearly stop me visiting this site is that they repealed the aforementioned policy of making Premium Articles readable after one month.
Maybe it's simply not implemented yet like many of the comments here about missing features and bugs suggest but I'm afraid they decided to test if that's an viable way to generate more income...
I can assure you that this is a bug, and that articles that are a month or more old should be viewable for free. We have no intent to change this policy at this time.

Is this an appropriate place to complain about the new Star City Games appearance? I saw it today and my first thought was 'disgusting'...
I can understand having a persistent advertisement at the top of the screen, but everything that used to be on the left hand side takes up the entire top half of the screen, and makes browsing for cards on their site a much less pleasant experience...
Are they trying to make it harder to find a bargain or something? I will spend significantly less time checking out odd cards on their site and buying fewer cards from them unless they fix it.
Goes back to the old monicker "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Apparently SCG has not gotten this message, neither has Facebook.
Thank you, Ben, for that clarification. (Or is it Mr. Bleiweiss? If it is, i would like to apologize for my rudeness.)
Especially since its Thanksgiving-Weekend in the States. Obviously you seem to take the new layout and the reaction of the community very seriously. So maybe we, the community should start writing our complaints and findings to StarCityGames.com
Thanks again for your concern!
It's Ben, and you're welcome! Threads like this give us a lot of valuable feedback, and I can assure you - the entire website redesign is a work in progress!
Is there any chance of bringing back the alphabetical card set lists on the left hand side of the page. I don't like how now you have to hit magic singles then card sets and then try searching for what you want in default chronological order, especially since stuff like promotional cards can only be found by hitting alphabetical order.
The buy-list takes forever to load now too when it didn't before.
How do I find misprint cards now? It's not under specialty items or even in the card sets listings either.
All these things are being worked on right now - I agree that they need some attention
As far as the buylist goes - one of the phases of this revamp is finally getting an automated (IE, not cut-and-paste) buylist up-and-running. There have been a lot of issues with the buylist loading up on both the old and new site, and the automated buylist should fix that. Should happen sometime early-to-mid '13
I know this is only tangentially related but whenever I go and try and look at the 2nd place Seattle legacy deck nothing loads. Does this link work for anyone else?

ps. happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Also, I can't seem to access premium articles that are over a month old. Did they just make premium available to premium members only now?

What do I like? The bigger search bar.
The previous design was almost unusable it was so bad.
It seems to be a firefox thing.
Well then, I already have adblock+ and still hate that bar at the top. I would have probably left the site entirely if it was any bigger.
I think they changed it, as i just was there and it didnt follow.
