After hearing about how Eric Froehlich is probably going to make it into the Pro Tour Hall of Fame this year during the Pro Tour Fate Reforged coverage, who else do you think is going to be voted in this year?
I am betting on Willy Edel because he was the runner-up last year and he has the highest number of grand prix top 8s of all of the players with 4 pro tour top 8s other than Eric Froehlich. I think that the third person will probably end up being Martin Juza because of his 21 Grand Prix top 8s, but if Sam Black gets a top 8 at Pro Tour Dragons of Tarkir, he will probably be in instead. Thoughts?
I actually don't know the stats or the numbers, but this is how I see it. Willy Edel has done too much not to be in the Hall of Fame. Eric Froehlich is probably the next one in. If it is only 3, I would personally vote in Martin Juza. While I haven't seen outstanding numbers by him recently, I remember just a few years ago when he and Yuuya Watanabe were winning every single Magic tournament, or so it seemed. I was thinking to myself, what's going on? (because I'm very American-centric and feel like they have the best chances to win)
Well, I have changed a bunch since then and now some of my favorite players in the game are Cifka, Nam Sung Wook, Ivan Floch, and some of the other Czech pros. This is always something to see someone work hard and change the view of someone like myself, for example.

It doesn't have to be only 3, but the stats for the players this year are relatively mediocre, which makes me think that a lot of the voters aren't going to use all of their votes. Also, Martin got 3 more GP top 8s this season. In my opinion, it really is just a matter of whether him only having 2 Pro Tour top 8s will be held against him.
The stats for every Magic player with 100 or more pro points are on Wikipedia.
I think Froehlich and Edel will be voted in, and unless something happens in the meantime (like Martin Juza top 8'ing another Pro Tour). Beyond those, I think Justin Gary has a good enough resume to be voted in, but I suspect he will not be, and I could definitely see a case for Tsuyoshi Ikeda. Beyond that, I don't think anyone have done quite enough to be voted in.
And I don't think Owen has done enough to be voted into the Hall of Fame either (when he's eligible), unless he makes at least one more PT top 8. Yuuya is a slam dunk though.

I think that Juza's top 16 at PT M15 and now having over 400 Pro Points might be enough to convince people to vote for him this year, especially since he will be fresher in their minds than Gary or Ikeda.

I'm pretty confident on his ability to top 8 a Pro Tour within the next year and a half. We will see though. The only players I am confidant in getting into the Hall based on their results right now are Edel, Froehlich, Yuuya next year, Josh Utter-Leyton in 2 years, and Lee Shi Tian in 3 years.
So, the ballot has been released. I still think that Efro is a lock and that Willy should definitely get in, but after that I am not sure. It is probably going to be Efro, Willy, and Shota.

Edit: I really can't wait until next year though, since Yuuya Watanabe and Owen Turtenwald will both be eligible.
