kinda made a dumb move that I don't normally do, that led me to having quite a bit of value stolen
so I was going to do a trade with a kid at my LGS and just left my binder right behind me until he was ready to look through it. I guess in between him looking at it, a few otehr kids looked at it as well and were eyeing my fetch land collection. When I checked the next morning I was missing 2 Ugin, the spirit dragon, 4 verdant catacombs, 4 bloodstained mire and 3 wooded foothills
I don't blame that kid himself and thought my binders would be fine since it was a kid I knew and trusted was also around. The kid I knew said people were eyeing them but did't pull anything out.
I've let pretty much every store in southern Ontario know and I'll be filing a police report tomorrow but is there much alse I can do about it?
There's no point in reporting it to police, absolutely nothing will be done about it and you'll spend a couple hours going to the station and filling out a report if you can even convince them the cards have any value.

I hope you get your stuff back, but I don't think it's going to be very likely
A good way to combat theft in stores is to go through your trade binder, look up prices, and remove EVERYTHING of any significant value, and to leave those cards at home. I would say that any card worth over $10 (I make a point of setting the limit at $5) should not come to the store with you UNLESS you have made prior promises to trade. Furthermore, limit the amount of decks you bring with you - you may think it innocuous if someone asks to look at a deck you've brought with you, but all it'll take is for your attention to wander to give them the time they need to steal cards or even the whole deck right out from under you.
Hope for the best, but above all, BE PREPARED FOR THE WORST.
Man, I feel you. I had a show and tell stolen from me by sticky fingered blankity-blanks before. But there's not much you can do outside of make the claim to the authorities/stores and hope one of the thieves makes a mistake and gets caught.
Part of why I stopped bringing trades when I game at a store.

I've pretty much given up hope that I'll find anything that got stolen. Kinda sucks that it happened but I'm gonna start bringing less with m now
I had some friends go to the store and say the were looking to "trade" for a set of verdant catacombs but none of the kids who were eyeing my binders were there last Friday
Don't leave your stuff spread out across 3 tables ...don't let more than one person look at one binder at a time don't trade with more than one person at a time ..before a tounament starts put your trades back in your car (locked)

I keep my trade binder and decks in a lockable steel ammo case (circa Vietnam era). When I'm not actively sitting there trading with it, it gets locked and placed under the chart I'm sitting in and never leaves my sight/side. Good luck trying to sneak that giant hunk of metal away from me without me noticing.
well I have some good news. I'll be getting my cards back on Friday. It was a kid from a group home around here and I got a text from a staff member there telling me what happened.
