I live in Seattle, where there's a few places that do 2DH - EDH, except no card can be greater than $2 TCG mid (commanders, $5 TCG mid).
Personally I think the idea is a little silly since prices fluctuate and aren't very closely related to actual power level, but it seems like a fun challenge. My regular political Phelddy deck has been tearing up the streets, haven't lost a game yet (to be fair it's only played like 6, games take a looong time), and it's not particularly dependent on any card - just good control cards, phelddagrif's ability to turn people into puppets, and a savvy player at the helm (ahem).
Same play style as my previous deck, so if you're wondering how it wins, just check that thread out in my sig (the most recent one).
Anyway, here's the new 2DH version. Don't suggest anything that costs more than $2 TCG mid!
Played my first game with it. versus non 2dh decks, but one of them was a precon and none of them were real powerful. Also all 3 were GW for some reason (karametra, trostani, and cat precon).
Won pretty easily tbh, although it wasn't a satisfying victory to me. Partly it was because I didn't do much politics playing, which is lame, and also because I literally killed everyone with commander damage one at a time. Everyone's commanders were so defensive and people gained a ton of life without making many aggressive moves, while still threatening to get out of control and put me in a position where I could lose. Also the precon guy just went round-robin with attacks, which meant it was my turn the turn after he played jazal goldmane with like 10 tokens on board and like 15 mana....yeah no, that dude is dead. Maybe I should have tried to bribe him into going elsewhere, although it's a bit risky since once he's attacking, if they're coming at me I've lost the game probably. Anyway, not great play by me, but I still won pretty handily. Haven't lost with a Phelddy deck in forever, at this point.
As far as the new cards:
Fortunate few was...ok. I cast it twice, and managed to work out deals to keep my stuff around, but some other powerful stuff stuck around too. Partly I suspect because the table was playing pretty casually and the precon guy had no idea what he was doing, so he made some (imo bad) deals to keep some of his stuff around. Overall I guess it worked but idk if it's worth the effort or the risk. Keeping compass around ended up being clutch though, ofc.
Spell swindle countered WSZ for 12. Treasure all got wiped up by fortunate few a couple turns later, but still worth it thus far.
ran all the flip cards even though some aren't legal for 2dh because I wanted to try them out.
Azcanta was legit insane. One of the most powerful cards in the deck. Overdrew me a lot, though.
Compass was very solid, though in a non-2dh deck I could imagine maze of ith is just as good or better. Searching lands was nice, though.
dowsing dagger was nothing special but nothing bad, 3 mana is pretty good I guess.
never played the other 3.
I think the biggest question continues to be, "are the flip lands too threatening to work in a low-threat deck like this?" I think I need to play against a more competitive/experienced table to answer that satisfactorily.
As far as changes to the deck, I think having more panic buttons like maybe a moment's peace in case someone goes for me unexpectedly would let me play more permissively. As it was, it felt like I was living boardwipe to boardwipe and playing a lot more control cards than I'd like thanks to people attacking fairly unpredictably. I don't like citadel siege anymore as it forces proactive control and I want to be reactive control. I'll do some more tinkering before I play again on sunday.
Hmm, that's a bummer, I think end hostilities is really the only one of those that meets my criteria, so that'll probably have to be the one. There's some others that also get the job done (pretty sure solar tide is cheap enough) but I think end hostilities was the last one on the chopping block so it'll probably be that one.
That's one of the great things about this deck, it's flexible enough that losing pieces doesn't really matter too much (although I'd be quite sad if the pulses went above $2, those are probably the least-replaceable cards). Maybe once fumigate rotates it'll come back down.
Solar Tide is definitely cheap enough. There's a few variants I missed (like Sunscour), or just didn't list because of price (Day of Judgment was surprisingly more than 2 dollars).

Have you done anymore tinkering to the deck.
Thinking of buying this deck and playing in my playgroup and see how it performs.. Just didn't know if you have switched out any cards from the above deck you have posted,?

i don’t believe so, although I’m abroad right now and don’t have it with me to check. I haven’t played it in a bit because I’m waiting until my gf finishes altering my phelddagrif
I wouldn’t necessarily take this decklist as gospel, though, especially if you aren’t constrained to the arbitrary $2 limit. The deck wants lots of removal, counters, and wipes but you should feel free to use whichever you prefer and the deck should function about the same.
