Eli Loveman is the winner of the MTG Championship II in London and has not been invited to the Arena Championship III and he’s not happy. Here is the full article:
The champion of the Magic: The Gathering Mythic Championship II in London, Eli Loveman, hasn’t been invited to participate with previous champions in the MTG Arena Mythic Championship III. And he’s not happy about it.
Of the 68 total Magic Pro League (MPL) players, qualifiers from MTG Arena, and 16 invites from the MPL—Eli Loveman has been left out. On social media earlier today, Loveman vented his frustrations over why he wasn’t invited after just winning the MCII in London.
My first thought after reading the article was, who did Eli irritate at WotC?
I had more to this post, about two paragraphs long, about the high level players until I realized that the entire thing could be summarized into a simple statement.
If I read the article right, which it's possible I didn't, he wasn't invited because they made the list of invitees before he even won the MCII. Which in itself is really weird, but then it makes no sense to expect him to be invited. It's still really weird to not save a spot for the winner of the previous tournament but that should have been brought up a while ago. Though to be honest I don't follow any of this and according to other pro players, wizards is choosing their players by throwing darts at a board while drunk.
The magic pro stuff is currently an absolute mess.
This.
There's not much else you can say without getting into a full fledged conversation/discussion. He plays out of a shop 80 mi. from me, although I frequent it because it's an amazing place. I definitely do feel like he's been snubbed. I don't have much bias here in my opinion since I have friends that are on both sides. I guess it doesn't really matter how you feel about somebody - if they should be in, they should be in.

To call it a snub is to say someone deliberately chose not to include him specifically in the tournament for personal reasons. They made the list of invitees with a certain deadline in mind and he won after that deadline. Yes WotC should have scheduled things better, yes they should have just reserved a spot for the winner, but it's a new professional format and all the bugs are still being ironed out. No one was snubbed.
