so....we have a top down design, balance aside, what do you think actually fulfils the fantasy theme it promises, and what doesn't?
for me, my biggest frustration so far is "knights". somehow, wizards feels that anyone on a horse/mount is a knight, so we have things like green knights, etc. who probably were never knighted, never took any vows, etc. it just feels a little off to me.
secondarily, why didnt they give them exalted? it seems like a perfect flavor fit.
also, embercleave...is it supposed to be excalibur? if so, it should only be able to be equipped to a legendary creature....i suppose we will need to read the book to find out what it's about.
now.. the good
adventures are cool visually and so are all the new card frame modifications
faeries are an obvious good fit even if they're not tribal here... the whole enchantment theme works for them.
So you’ve never read “Sir Gawain and the Green Knight”. Green knights go back to Arthurian legend.
But all kidding aside, I feel that if they are Elves, green knights are totally acceptable.
I think they went a bit overboard with the knight theme as well.
My biggest hope for the set is that the story book themes have as much mechanical significance as they do flavor. So far I’m loving the flavor, but flavor without mechanical support is just not exciting to me. And so far that tie in feels too loose.
