Ok so, if there are 3 1/1 creatures and a Blade of the Bloodchief attached to a 3/3 creature on the field, thenBlack Sun's Zenith is played for 5 mana, thus adding 3 -1/-1 counters to all creatures on the field, does the 3/3 trigger and become a 6/6 with 3 -1/-1 counters on it and survive Black Sun's Zenith?
In this case, the three -1/-1 counters will bring the equipped creature's toughness to 0, thus sending it to the graveyard after Black Sun's Zenith resolves (along with other creatures whose toughness is brought to 0) (C.R. 116.3b, 116.5, 704.5f), thus making Blade of the Bloodchief's ability trigger once for itself and for each other creature that dies (C.R. 700.4, 603.2c). However, each such ability generally won't do anything when it resolves unless Blade of the Bloodchief is somehow attached to another creature still on the battlefield (C.R. 301.5e).
Thank you so much for your response. I thought this was the case but felt really bad because I wants 100% sure and my friend was sure it didn't work this way.
