In a THG game I activate Mirror Universe during my team’s upkeep and let’s say we’re at 3 and the other team is at 17 life. Do I then choose one member of the opposing team and myself. That target player would then lose 14 life and I gain 14 life, essentially puting our team at 17 and the opponents at 3.
Is this the correct interpretation of rules 810.9c and/or 810.9d?
Under C.R. 701.10c, "[w]hen life totals are exchanged, each player [involved in the exchange] gains or loses the amount of life necessary to equal the other player's previous life total". For Mirror Exchange's ability, the players involved in the exchange are the ability's controller (see also C.R. 109.5) and the targeted opponent (C.R. 108.1). The ability's effect "needs to know the value of [their] life total[s]", so it "uses the [corresponding] team's life total instead" (C.R. 810.9). And the ability's controller "gains or loses the amount of life necessary to equal" the targeted opponent's team's life total, and vice versa (C.R. 710.10c, 810.9, 810.9a), and the "result" of that life gain or life loss, as the case may be, "is applied to [each such player's] team's shared life total" (C.R. 810.9).
