Hi, one question about Geist-Honored Monk. I have a wall of omens on the field, then cast the monk. Total 4 creatures.. monk, 2 spirits, wall.. so the monk is 4/4. Is there a time for the opponent to lightning bolt the monk before the spirit tokens are created?
In general, a triggered ability such as Geist-Honored Monk's last ability doesn't do anything immediately when it triggers (C.R. 603.2), but rather when it resolves. (For example, two Spirit tokens aren't created immediately when Geist-Honored Monk enters the battlefield.) As with almost any other triggered ability, players get priority to cast instant spells (such as Lightning Bolt) before Geist-Honored Monk's last ability resolves, and any such spell will go on the stack above that triggered ability and get to resolve before that ability (C.R. 405.2, 116.4, 116.1a, 116.3d; see C.R. 605.4, 605.1b for an exception not applicable here). (Thus, for example, in this scenario, Lightning Bolt will get to resolve this way while Geist-Honored Monk is still 2/2 because you control two creatures.) However, even if Geist-Honored Monk leaves the battlefield in the meantime, that ability will still get to resolve (and create two Spirit tokens) (C.R. 112.7a).

There is such a time.
Monk's last ability begins with "when", indicating it is a triggered ability. Triggered abilities go to the stack before they can resolve (except for triggered mana abilities, which this one isn't).
So when Monk enters the battlefield, her ability triggers and goes to the stack. At this point Monk is just a 2/2 because you control only two creatures (Monk and Wall). Your opponent can cast Lightning Bolt in response to the ability, killing the Monk before the spirits tokens are created.
Notice the spirit tokens are still created. Killing the Monk doesn't affect the triggered ability already on the stack.

hmm, so lightning bolt can kill the monk before the spirit tokens are created?
even if the monk is killed before the tokens appear, the tokens will still be created?

and glad I asked, because before asking here I believed the monk cannot be killed by bolt as long as I can make it a 4/4 on etb.
