So this came up in a recent magic comp (pre-release) that I'm now confused by because of Magic Arena.
In the comp I summoned a creature that tapped target creature until mine exited the field (core 2020 - I can't actually remember it's full name - Geist of some sort).
Anyway...
In Arena I was hit with Watertrap Weaver which taps target creature until next untap step... The targeted creature was already tapped, yet it still locked it to tapped until my next tap step.
Does this mean that already tapped cards can be permanently tapped?
The creature that I used in the comp (and was told that it couldn't keep tapped target creature) was Dungeon Geists... Thoughts?
Using card tags is mandatory in the Magic Rulings forum. Please check your private messages to learn how to use them. I've added them for this post.

Cards like Dungeon Geists can always target any creature regardless of whether it is untapped or tapped. A card that says you can only tap an untapped creature will say so, such as Backlash.
You can target a tapped creature with Dungeon Geists. When the ability resolves the tap portion will do nothing as you cannot tap an already tapped creature, but the rest of the ability will still apply and it will not untap as long as you control Dungeon Geists.
If people are sick of reading about stuff just stop taking part. You have 100% control over what you read. Simic Ascendancy isn't going to get banned just because you didn't tell someone to shut up on the internet.
