The ability of Unscythe, Killer of Kings states that when a creature is destroyed by the equipped creature, you may remove that "card" from the game to put in a 2/2 Zombie. What if the destroyed creature was a token? Technically, it still goes to the graveyard, and the ability doesn't specifically ask to check if the creature was a card. Do I get a Zombie?
5/1/2009 If Unscythe's second ability triggers, but the creature that was put into a graveyard is somehow removed from the graveyard in response (or it was a token), it won't be able to be exiled with Unscythe's ability. You won't get a Zombie token.
No, you don't. The ability does trigger, but the token that went to the graveyard ceases to exist as a state-based action before it can resolve (even before it goes on the stack, actually). When the ability resolves, there is no card to exile, so the "if you do" clause prevents you from getting a zombie token. It is completely fitting that the wording uses the term "card" since you cannot exile the creature if it wasn't a card.
