It's that time of year again. If anyone is at SDCC and wants to fill us in live (since they aren't live streaming this year) this is the place to do it. Otherwise, when they post the video of the panel later tonight I'll embed it here for us to discuss.
In the meantime, a few Battle for Zendikar teamups from the twitter feed!
EDIT: And what the tweet implies is a new Ob Nixils art...looks like getting that hedron out of his head did more than give him wings.
We've got BFZ art showing Kiora and Gideon (and Kiora has Thassa's Bident!), Gideon and Nissa, Jace and Ugin(!), and Nissa and Sorin. (Not sure if that last one's a flashback to Rise of the Eldrazi or if they're getting the band back together).
EDIT: Also, Ob Nixilis choking a Kor. Here's hoping Kor Choking doesn't become the new Bear Dragon Punching.
Later tonight? They tend to take their time with those things. MaRo has said it will be uploaded "later this week."
Overall it was a pretty meh panel as far as the tweets indicate.
The last tweets from the official account it would be online "shortly" and that they've got some behind the scenes teamwork at the panel, so I'm hoping it'll be sooner rather than later.
I should add that as someone that's devoted so much time to magic's story, this is complete bs. They aren't even acknowledging the changes. If they would just do that it would restore so much faith in them, but they're just pretending nothing changed.
Kiora wielding Dekella. How I loathe that Thassa had her Bident jacked, yet it's so beautiful seeing Thassa things in a Zendikar block. Kiora admittedly looks awesome carrying it!
Hope that first Gideon art we had is used on his PW card.
Why is Jace there? Did he say he wouldn't get involved too much of anything outside of Ravnica? He also doesn't know about Ugin, Tarkir, Eldrazi or of Gideon. Neither does Tarkir or Ugin know of Jace. Why would they be meeting?
Well, he was partially responsible for their release. Assuming that Gideon was the planeswalker that Jace and Ral were trying to find/conceal on Ravnica, perhaps he has come back to let Jace know how much he done goofed?

Would Jace care?
Considering it's Ugin in the picture with him and I'm pretty sure Jace would be wary of Dragon Planeswalkers since he met Bolas before, I'm pretty sure he'd be very careful and pay attention to what he's told (or read from Ugin's mind, if he could.)
So BFZ now consists of at least:
Gideon
Nissa
Kiora
Ugin
Jace
Since Nahiri wasn't shown yet and Sorin is still standing, it means either they're keeping Nahiri's presence a secret for now, or Sorin somehow convinced Ugin that Ulamog was more urgent than finding Nahiri, considering that's the first thing Ugin "ordered" Sorin to do upon his release.
Kors, humans and vampires standing together to fight Eldrazi. No elves to be seen though besides Nissa of course. I really get a last stand vibe from this.
Also Ob Nixilis hype
I think the art is awesome--I would have been pleased with the Ob shadow art for now to tease him, rather than his full image.
Everyone's involvement makes sense; we'll have to wait and see to what extent Nahiri is present.
I don't think there is anyone else who I expected to be present, but the assort of 'walkers is curious--Jace, Nissa, Kiora, and Gideon have never worked with each other (in any pairing or combination). I wonder how quickly they'll ally, and to what extent Nissa and Sorin get along (based on how much of Teeth was keep in the reboot.
And a note on the reboot and Creative not talking about it: I don't think we need to worry about it. It is what is it, we're moving forward with some really neat story pieces and art, and we're getting continuity content on a weekly basis. All of this is very good. Again, losing some of what we know is sad/frustrating/seemingly-unnecessary, but it should serve a greater purpose in the end. I hold out hope.

A younger Jace wouldn't, and would leave it up to someone else to fix, but Jace has really matured in the current storyline. He felt responsible enough for Garruk's fate to get involved in that plot line. I imagine that knowing he'd helped unleash universe-consuming monstrosities would be incentive enough for him to lend his expertise.
Far more confusing is Liliana and Chandra's involvement. When Wizards said that the 5 walkers in Origins were involved in the upcoming plot line, I took that to mean they were all going to be involved in some capacity in Battle for Zendikar. Assuming I understood correctly (because if I didn't, all this is irrelevant) Chandra has exactly the same reason to be there as Jace, but without the sense of responsibility. Liliana... unless she's looking to interrogate Ob Nixilis on how to regain lost power, I don't understand why she would be involved at all.
automatonsleuth, I had understood the five Origins 'walkers were relevant to the upcoming plotlines, but not necessarily Zendikar. Thus, I suspect we will see Chandra and Liliana in the next block or two. I'd like to see if Chandra and Gideon could develop a legitimate relationship, as those are few and are between in Magic continuity.

Q: Senatorofinnistrad asked: In the new story-telling era, could a planeswalker be included in the story but with no card in the associated block?
A: Yes.

Not on Theros so no Nyx effect? It will be intresting to see how Nyx stuff is effect by being on other planes.

Becuase Nyx only exists on Theros and the bident is now on Zendikar?
Because the star shadows represent the fact that those things exist in the real world as well as in the dream world of Nyx, and outside of Theros, it just exists in the real world and is simply an artifact, though perhaps still a powerful one?
Because no one, sans planeswalkers, in this plane of existence even knows about the Theran gods, let alone has any faith in them or their weapons (except maybe Gideon, though him being a planeswalker probably squashed that like it did with Xenagos)?
I dunno. I mean, for any or all of the reasons I listed, it makes sense that it doesn't have it, though it would have been way cooler if it still did, not to mention that it would make the connection more obvious to many players.
Maybe it was just an oversight by this particular artist.
I think Jace and Ugin are analyzing a plan to either seal or destroy the Eldrazi. Jace is very intelligent so I can imagine some sort of telepathic debate occurring between them to hatch out a solution.
I think more important than Ob choking a Kor is why is he dissecting an eldrazi spawn? I mean we know he hates the Kor because they remind him of Nahiri, but he seems to be cutting open an Eldrai spawn for some reason.
Godsend lost the starfield while Elspeth had it, so I expect the same from Dekella.
He isn't. He just knows how to butcher people's minds.
Don't let your disliking for Jace delude you of his actual abilities. He was able to deduce the true purpose of the Implicit Maze which even Niv-Mizzet, among the most intelligent entities we know of, was unable to do.
