So, pretty central to the new character of Vivien Reid is that her home plane, Skalla, was destroyed by Bolas, leaving only herself and the spirits in her Arkbow to bear its legacy.
My question is: What do we know about Skalla? What can we infer? And what are peoples wild, pie-in-the-sky headcanons?
I get the feeling it might be Norse inspired, just by how the name sounds. But we already have Kaldheim, so its really hard to tell.
The name does sound Norse inspired, but her appearance/costume don't seem to reflect on that. Is she on Skalla in her art or is it somewhere else, I wonder.
Since Kamigawa and Madara empire were both inspired by Japanese culture, I think it's possible to have multiple planes of similar flavor. That said, Skalla is destroyed, perhaps Kaldheim will be our official Norse plane.
From the planeswalker survey (which are shown not be the most canon so pinch of salt) Skalla had conflict between the natural and technology.

I'm leaning towards non canon, at least partly. It was stated that Bolas destroyed her world, but I was given to understand the survey said civilization and technology caused the destruction. That said, I imagine that conflict was a defining trait of the world before it got wrecked, or maybe Bolas even engineered it.

From the Mary Sue article they say;
Born on Skalla, Vivien is part of a tribe of rangers and druids known as the Smaragdi, who protect the wilds of that plane from the growing destructive civilization.
So I think that conflict might be there. Also leads to interesting tension that she is forced to use the Arkbow, magic-tech, to save the Skalla wild life.

Vivien was born on the plane of Skalla. Her homeworld was deeply divided between the forest dwellers and the Nura, an advanced civilization that encircled the dwindling woodlands. Vivien belonged to the Smaragdi, rangers and druids sworn to protect the multitude of forest creatures. But civilization was constantly encroaching, and the Smaragdi were fighting a losing battle against the soldiers of progress.
Nicol Bolas took an interest in the Nura and their innovations, and though its archmages tried in vain to fight back, they were no match for the ruthless dragon. After plundering them for their secrets, Bolas decided the plane was of no more use to him and began to destroy it. In desperation, the Nura fled to the forest, but by then, there was no safe place to hide. Sensing that their doom was imminent, the Nura and Smaragdi combined their collective magic into a unique artifact, the Arkbow, which contained an invocation of every creature that ever lived on Skalla. Their plan was to use the Arkbow in a last stand battle against Nicol Bolas. But as the forest erupted into flames and the battle was lost, Vivien instinctively planeswalked to safety with the Arkbow, the last relic of Skalla.

I'm going to assume the Gatewatch does not approve of eradicating all civilization from the Multiverse (which naturally includes wiping out most of Ravnica), so we may have a new monogreen antagonist.

Actually from what I gather from the Coreset 2019 players guide, it says Vivien Reid has “quite the grudge” for Bolas for wiping her home plane. Somehow I feel like she’ll be one of Ajani’s recruits for the Ravinica battle and that at the very least she’ll be on the gatewatches side for the battle. Whether she joins herself we will have to wait and see.

WOTC has developed planes that showcase a lot of different color conflict, but not necessarily Green. Yes, we've seen Green facing off against an urban civilization that already dominates the world (Ravnica) as well as an optimistic steampunk world (Kaladesh), but not one where we see the fight between Green and its civilized foes in the midst of a fight. Original Innistrad had a conflict between White and Black that had White isolated and the theme of Monsters spread from Black to the other colors. They can't do something as bad as Torment and Judgment, but they can at least play up the central conflict in a storyline being along one color and its enemies ...
But since Skalla has already been destroyed, I can't imagine it's set up for a future set unless it's supposed to be a post-apocalyptic world.
