There is so much to pull from MTGs Lore and MTG is more popular than ever.
Done right, this could surpass both Game of Thrones and the MCU.
Netflix, Amazon, Hulu all want a game of thrones like mega hit and are willing to spend billions on one. Amazon is spending 3 billion on a LoTR adaptation as an example and Netflix wants something to compete with this.
If Wizards works with them, Netflix would happily invest a billion to make an epic series pulling from the very best storylines and lore in MTG and it both be a mega hit and would really do a lot to pull more players into the game as well.
Season 1 could be the two brothers war, season 2 the phyrexian invasion, season 3 the Eldrazi etc (bird box was basically about Enrakul visiting another plane already, since birdbox was made by Netflix, it could easily be Marketed as a prelude to the Eldrazi invasion, a way to show what it feels like to have the Eldrazi invade a plane on the ground level.)
I do think that could be pretty cool! Though I'm sure that Hasbro would wan to show to focus on recent storyline material. It would probably be coolest if it could be an independent story, rather than an alternate version of the existing story.
Not sure about this. Shows set in fantasy environments are a tough sell because they tend to underperform (Game of Thrones being the exception).
It would be more likely that it would be a fish-out-of-water story where a modern kid/teen has their spark ignite, which I'm not sure would go over well.
I would want a slice of life high school anime, with Jace as the MC.
But in all seriousness I’m sure Netflix would fund it because they’ll fund anything lol
If we could get a long form series that starts with The Brothers War and continues through Yawgmoth's defeat, we could have something great if the art direction and writing teams put passion into it. Art styles similar to those of Samurai Jack, Avatar: The Last Airbender, or the original Thunder Cats (updated of course) would do well for the series.

I envision Magic in movie or Series form as a big budget dramatic Epic like Lord of the Rings or something. It would be easily and greatly done if proper. The settings, costumes and effects woud be in similar form as well.I can easily envision everything in my head and Im no means a screenwriter or producer. It "COULD" be incredible and appeal to a mass audience if done properly. The story is already written. First Trilogy could be The original story (urza, yawgmoth, Rath, Phyrexian invasion, weatherlight, gerrard and the world spell etc..) Second trilogy would be the Gatewatch exploitations.
Just market it as a actual film (not a video game or card game movie)
MtG: Brothers War
MtG: Weatherlight
MtG; War for Dominaria
MtG: Planeswalkers
MtG: Rise of the Eldrai
MtG: Scheming of Bolas

Been a member here for over a dozen years. Playing since '95 just got lost in the twitch shuffle.
They're not going to make any media that isn't about currently-active characters in the card game. It would waste the cross-promotion sales opportunity.

something on the budget of Castlevania could be good
