Thinking of Calix reminded me; does TBD take place before or after WotS? Eldraine took place before Battlebond, so there is recent precedent for a story in the past and I've seen conflicting accounts on TBD's place chronologically.

Because we know frighteningly little about the story it's difficult to say if this is post or pre-war even though we have a character that appeared in both. Although because of this character's appearance and stated goal it is "likely" that this is post-war. This is complicated because the last time we saw Ashiok they were on Theros, so it's possible the beacon called caught their attention and they immediately went back to Theros when the Immortal Sun turned off but it is also possible that Ashiok stopped in on Ravnica while looking for Phyrexians. So it's annoying hard to tell due to a ridiculous lack of story.
“There are no weak Jews. I am descended from those who wrestle angels and kill giants. We were chosen by God. You were chosen by a pathetic little man who can't seem to grow a full mustache"
"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
So I guess to sum up feel free to feel how you want but also realize your feeling don't quite match up with what being presented.
Which, I mean...yeah. Literally all I'm trying to do is spell out my own feelings and make it clear why. Again, I know full well I'm not in the majority and I know full well why Wizards do what they do. All I'm saying is why it isn't exactly satisfying (again, despite being completely aware of why it is the way it is).
A small bit of good news. There is a plan to release a story for Theros. Due to issues it won't be an EPub and they don't know when they will release it but they do plan on releasing something which is the best possible news after the whole "you get this summery page and nothing else".
Expectations should be kept low so as not to be disappointed; though it should be hard to get high Hope's after the horrific mess that has been what we just got.
I really hope it’s an ebook (like Godsend or like The Gathering Storm) or novel or at least the short stories on the Mothership site. A comic would be a bit lame since I really want details. It’s all good news though. Thank Thassa we will get something after all. Hopefully sooner than later. Do you suspect they have something already written that they’re evaluating for release?
So, any new interesting lore from Mythic Odysseys of Theros?
Just skimming through, but one thing caught my eye, they more or less answered the question, on how Klothys kept herself alive, without worship.
Worshiping Klothys
"Klothys doesn’t trace her origins to mortal devotion, and she has languished in obscurity for almost the whole of human history. Unlike the other gods (except Kruphix), she doesn’t need worship to sustain or empower her, and she doesn’t seek out reverence or demand it. By and large, mortals are irrelevant to her, except insofar as they have played a role in tangling the strands of destiny by defying nature’s order." - Mythic Odysseys of Theros
It also confirms once again, that Phenax was once mortal, we also got the names of the other two titans:
Phlage, Titan of Burning Wind (described as an all consuming whirlwind of fire, so maybe blue/red) Skotha, Titan of Eternal Dark (described as the utter darknes of a starless night)
The creation of gods is divided in something like generations.
First generation, before the normal gods and the principle of worship were the titans, which were the fears of mortals, given form by Nyx.
The second generation were Kruphix and Klothys, which are said to by either offshoot of the titans, born from a sense of inevitability and mystery, or something else, apart from gods and titans (they both don't need worship to sustain themselves)
Once the mortals could imagine a world beyond the horizon, the ideas in their heads gave form to the third generation, the mono coloured gods. They refer each other as brother and sister.
The other eight, as the fourth generation represent the application of abstract principles, like Nylea being the god of wild nature and Karametra the god of nature tamed for human use. They recognize the previous generation as their elders.
And we get a little bit of a backstory for Arasta.
She was once a dryad and like a sister to Nylea, until one day, Phenax, envious of those two, transformed her into a terrible monster. He wanted to prove, that the goddess’s love was based on beauty alone. Not realizing, who that creature was, she was horrified and drove it away. Only Phenax can undo the curse, and Nylea has send many of her champions out to learn the secret, that might one day restore her friend.

Sounds interesting! I think there isn't a map of Theros, right?
There is a complete map of Theros, and some smaller ones for encounters.
Not sure if I'am allowed to post the map, I attached it, if I'am not allowed a mod can remove it.
I love it! It seems very comprehensive although misses Iretis and the Nisto’s forest though. As far as I can tell. I was hoping the map would have Arixmethes and Olantin as well. I love the new cities like
Neolantin of course.

Thats new idea though they have set up Kruphix being different from the rest of the gods.

Phlage, Titan of Burning Wind (described as an all consuming whirlwind of fire, so maybe blue/red) Skotha, Titan of Eternal Dark (described as the utter darknes of a starless night)
I'd agree Phlage as UR and hard to say on Skotha if all they have is darkness. Also a cycle of four instead of 5, cool.

This is cool reflection of greek myths with the titans/gods you find in greek myth when many of the titans joined the gods and would use both titan and gods interchangeable.

Agreed. So Kruphix and his sister are somewhat like titan gods. Like Metis in a way, or Hyperion.
I'm surprised they left Iretis and the Nistos forest off this map. Actually I believe Nistos should be to the West, so that is very odd. But there is a mountain range that Elspeth claimed to be from beyond, instead of explaining planeswalking, and they somewhat encompassed that. It's neat that they included them, among other new locations. I would have liked to see Nistos since it's even larger than the Nessian Forest, and some oceanic/marine/island locations would be nice. Especially since we know there's Thassa's secret seas, the edge of the world, Olantin and Kruphix's temple not depicted.
Overall though, most of the map makes a lot of sense from what I know about Theros, and puts the novel into a lot of perspective.
Looks a little more like Turkey than Greece though
Has anyone seen or gotten this? It evidently features a journey to Olantis actually.
Nylea is a third generation god, I expressed myself bad. What I wanted to say was, Karametra is the abstract concept of what Nylea is, as the god of nature tamed for human use. It is also stated that sometimes Keranos is seen as the son of Purphoros and Thassa, sometimes literal, sometimes more in the sense, that their characters mix.
Purphoros made Thassa a new weapon because she treats him like a friend. Because He can't destroy or reforge her domain, she doesn't fear him, like other gods do.
Sadly it isn't mentioned how Phenax became a god, just that he escaped the underworld by giving up his sense of self and hiding in Atheros Veil, to escape. It is also mentioned, that he found joy in Xenagos ascension, as another mortal becoming a god is a great way to undermine the system. Going by that, he apparently become a god, not the idea of him as a mortal escaping the underworld gave birth to him.
Edit:
He sacrificed his identity to the memory draining waters and was able to cross the rivers that ring the world wrapped in a shred of Athero’s cloak (not actually hiding in the cloak). Since he had no identity, Athreos couldn’t detect him and Erebos couldn’t use his lash to pull him back.
It also confirms, that Klothys came to the mortal realm to set destiny right, not because Xenagos took "her place" in the pantheon, as some sources mentioned. The only thing Xenagos did, to enrage her, was to meddle with destiny.

This is remarkable information that really made me smile, thank you! Thassa and Purphoros do act like a couple in Godsend after all, and Keranos describes her as his sister, but probably they're all that way. So cool about Keranos as their son though.
Does it give any more details about Thassa's new weapon by any chance? Its name, abilities, or how Purphoros forged it? I always wondered why he didn't just make her another Bident, or why the book features Dekella instead of this new spear (from what I've seen in the TOC online). I always preferred the coral-like surface of the Bident, although the new spear being bronze is pretty thematic too. I wonder how she felt about losing it and about this new one.
BTW the Table of Contents for the link I shared above lists a... Bidet of Thassa.

Sadly not, as far as I could find, its just that he forged it as an replacment. In the section for Purphors it is mentioned that he discovered iron, so maybe he made it from that, but I'am not sure. Under the section of god weapons only Dekalla appears with a stat block. There are no new images of Thassa or Arixmethes, the only new ones I could find, are attached below. For each god there is also a little star sign symbol (attached the one for Thassa).
Here are the quotes for the Thassa/Purphoros relationship
"Thassa is Purphoros’s closest ally in the pantheon. Imbued as she is with the malleable, quenching power of water, she knows that he can neither destroy her waves nor reforge them. Because she has no fear of him, she treats him as a friend. Purphoros frequently makes wondrous gifts for Thassa, and her underwater palace holds countless unique creations of the god of the forge." - Mythic Odysseys of Theros
"Thassa took pity on Purphoros and aided him when Kruphix hobbled his mind, and Purphoros has not forgotten it. The two of them agree that old things must make way for new things, but Purphoros’s bursts of destructive energy stand in sharp opposition to Thassa’s gradual alterations. Purphoros regularly makes gifts for Thassa, most recently gifting her a new spear to replace her lost weapon." - Mythic Odysseys of Theros
There are a lot of smaller details about Thassa, that I'am not sure of, if they are new, like her favourite animal being crabs. Each god gets a few tales, under Thassa we find the Theros version, on how her bident dissapeared. A Triton impersonated Kallaphe and tried to take a kraken from her, after the silent was lifted, she struck her down with such a fury, that the bident shattered.

I think there are a few things, I sadly don't have much time this week, I will try and get to it on the weekend. I'am still hoping for that book to come out one day
There is a bit of lore for the woe strider under the Klothys section.
"Walkers of Woe. The nightmarish creatures known as woe striders are said to be products of Klothys’s punishment. These beings descend from an age when some mortals learned to unshackle themselves from the strands of destiny. To what end is a question lost to time, but Klothys put a quick end to these blasphemers and eradicated nearly all knowledge of their methods. Ever since, the shades of these accursed mortals have walked the Underworld as woe striders, monstrosities endlessly seeking strands of destiny that they might use to replace their own discarded lots." - Mythic Odysseys of Theros
And some more under the monster section
"Woe striders form from the souls of those who’ve broken the bonds of destiny. Over centuries, these cosmic blasphemers transform into hunched, long-limbed horrors. Sadistic things, woe striders seek ways to reweave themselves into the tapestry of destiny. This leads them to search for answers within the bowels of other beings, performing murderous haruspicy in pursuit of their discarded cosmic purpose. When they fail to find answers, their unnatural cries cause reality to shudder, undermining magic and sane minds alike." - Mythic Odysseys of Theros
Something else I found was the art for Perisophia, described as a member if the ruling council (the Twelve) of Meletis and some other new art.
Edit: Found something new on Tymaret, if I'am not mistaken.
When Phenax escaped the only one to witness it was an unremarkable soul called Tymaret. He shared what he saw with Erebos and received a cursed blessing from him. He restored him as a returned with the task of slaying Phenax. The tasked proved to be difficult, because Phenax was masked, because of that Tymaret slaughtered every mortal he encountered, confident that one of them would be Phenax. When Phenax became a god he evaded Tymaret, leaving him and his legion of Returend to endlessly, fruitlessly kill in Erebos name.
With this in mind, it makes sense why Erebos choose Tymaret as his champion during THB.
I also corrected the part with Phenax on my previous post.
