Correction. You either play Nexus or mono red. That's it. Those are the ONLY two decks that are competitive in this "meta." This game is beyond the pale.
Im seeing more mono red and white weenies compared to Nexus. Still hate Nexus of Fate tough.
Man I have not seen another deck besides mono red and Nexus since the new expansion dropped. I hate what this game has become. They're both just such ugly, unfun ways to win a game.
Mono Red
Mono White
RW Aggro
Mardu Judith/Hero of District One
Drakes or Phoenix
Esper Control
Nexus with Wilderness Reclamation
Explosion with Wilderness Reclamation
Gates
BG Explore
Those are your options from what I've played against in the Gold 1/Gold 2 level.

I've only come up against Drakes, Esper Control and mono red aggro down in bronze. Repeatedly.
I'm going to guess everyone is talking about best of 1 ranked? I've been doing best of 1 constructed events, over 200 games over the last 2 days, and have only encountered single digit nexus numbers. The most common deck I've encountered is mono red burn. Making up more than a third of the games I play.
Anyone else play anything other than best of 1 ranked? What are you seeing?

Oh man yes constructed is all burn. That also sucks. I'm in Platinum Ranked and it's literally all Nexus and burn. I mean I don't see Izzet Drakes non-stop anymore, which is what ranked used to be, but the cure is worse than the disease.
Even at my low rank I see a large majority of mono-red aggro, more than a third..over 60%, whilst the remaining decks being drakes or some form of control.
I get this feeling there is always going to be a complaint about mono-red...

Well Wizards pushed red into sickening power levels. I mean it's virtually unbeatable. They can defeat you on turn 4 for godssake. How does any deck compete against it? Nothing has been able to for like 4 standard rotations (probably more). They really need to tone it back, yet every release they just pump out more bolts. "Hmmm what does Red need? how about a 3 damage bolt for 1 mana? OK. sure why not"
Mono-red is going to be very common almost regardless of its power level. It's a cheap deck to make and fast to play for those who want to grind. The same thing happens on MTGO too

Not nearly to the same extent. Arena's free to play "economy" promotes this sort of deck, as does its two hand nonsense and best of 1 nonsense.

Onering's 4 simple steps that let you solve any problem with Magic's gameplay
Whether its blue players countering your spells, red players burning you out, or combo, if you have a problem with an aspect of Magic's gameplay, you can fix it!
Step 1: Identify the problem. What aspect of Magic don't you like? Step 2: Find out how others deal with the problem. How do players deal with this aspect of the game when they run into it? Step 3: Do what those players do. Step 4: No more problem. Bonus: You are now better at Magic. Enjoy those extra wins!
I'm currently playing at Gold tier 4 single match-ranked games.
If it's all mono-red, just build a deck that beats mono-red. I've been finding a decent variety of games out there, but mono-red is definitely prevalent. As someone pointed out, it's the cheapest to build $/wildcard wise. That increases the amount out there. Also, we are still in a relatively low set-count in standard right now which favors aggro decks. (This new set hasn't filtered into the meta as much yet because people are still trying to get the cards they need from the new set.)
I've been having really good success with my new Gruul deck. The new Gruul spellbreaker is great. I just play him with a bunch of fierce 2 drops, and all the best red removal. It keeps beating mono-red aggro. When you have cheap removal to dispense against mono-red aggro alongside cheap creatures that hit the battlefield with larger stats then theirs, it's gonna be in your favor.
I've also come up against a mono-red burn using that wall that deals 1 damage when ever they cast an instant/sorcery. It is also easy to beat if you can blast away this creature asap. They just won't have the juice to finish you off usually.
