Now that the official Magic the Database forums have finally disappeared, I hope nobody minds if I start a thread here to update the three or so of us who still use the ancient program.
So, for anybody who still uses it, the Morningtide spoiler import for MtDB is available from this page:
I have also provided the sed script I use to process the text spoilers from Gatherer into a form that MtDB understands, so that you can always do it yourself, if necessary.
Well, I'm going to revive this thread every set release until I finally give up on this old software. For anybody else looking for updates to Magic the Database, here is the link to the importable Shadowmoor spoiler:
For some previous set lists or a sed script you can use to process your own card lists, you can check out my humble website. Note that I made an update to the processing script to handle mono-color hyrbid mana:
It's time for the Eventide update, and I even had somebody contact me requesting it, so I'm not the only one still using the antiquated Magic the Database program!

Any idea how many people still use MtDB? Can you tell how many people download your txt files from your page? Just curious.
I don't have a counter set up for the downloads. I'm only sure of three people who still use this program - you, me, and some guy from Europe who e-mails me and asks for the update, if I forget to post it. I expect there are at least as many more who just download the updates.
Use the link he gave in his last post that one works
I've used your program when you first posted here and imputed my cards into it. very handy and nifty program tumbs up for it!! :D:D . I recently started to get back into mtg and I wanted to add the new sets (I have them till Coldsnap). I dled the files of the sets I need you gave on your site and tried to import them but I seem to be doing something wrong. No matter how I do it it ends up with '0 cards added'. Any idea what I might be doing wrong?
Not sure if you figured it out yet..
make sure you save the file as text. then open mtdb and under the dropdown "database" open up "import wizards spoiler". press find and put in the text file you downloaded. hit ok and it will import the list. Next close the program. restart it and the cards should be in there.
Adding cards quickly...
Best way i have found to get the cards you own in the system is..
make sure you have the master card list open. Close the proxy card picture(silly anyway) then open simple field search. use the color dropdown and the edition dropdown ie green and conflux then hit search. This will bring up all green cards in conflux. Now click on the first card in the list. Notice on the master this card comes up with all its info. hit f3 and this will increase the cards owned field. then just use your down arrow key to go to the next green card. If you have a binder of cards sorted by color or in order by collector number it goes real fast entering your cards.
The database automatically saves so dont worry. I have used this program in all versions of windows through Vista. Have not tried 7 yet but im sure it will be fine. It has never crashed on me. However i would suggest saving or making a copy of the file "magicdb3" found in program files/magic the database 5.0, This is where all the info is. i usually copy it and safe it on another hd or flash drive after i have updated.
Hope this helps.
I dont frequent here too much but always check back when a set comes out. So if anyone needs help i will try and help if i can.

Add me as one more guy who still uses it. You have my thanks for providing these updated lists. Could you make a importable list of card-rules.txt? The last one I have is from 2003 but there is a 2009 one available at http://www.crystalkeep.com/magic/rules/summaries/rule-txt.zip
I wasn't aware that this had been resurrected and I really missed this program. Where can I get the actual program at. I used to have it but now I've lost it.
Is there a list for New Phyrexia? I tried running the SED script to make one from a spoiler text file but it didn't work so well. Does Wizards even post the regular txt file spoiler anymore?
Any word on an install? I desperately need this program, that is, unless there is another program that lets me keep a database of my own cards, my decks, and all cards ever made as well as this program did/does. I used to have it installed but lost it. If it motivates anyone, I will PAY for it.

You're welcome! Sorry I didn't respond right away - I'm not used to getting feedback here, but I appreciate it!

Any chance anyone has an importable version of the most recent card-rules.txt ?

Regarding the rulings and the installer zip... I'll have to ponder these requests.
Thanks again.
