Just want to report that I had no problems importing the Theros text spoiler, using the new SED script. Although I haven't checked everything, all 234 cards showed up and what I've spot checked looks good.
Yeah, I just noticed how they changed the new Gatherer. It totally sucks. A new SED script could be created to import from another text format. Maybe base it off of Magic Workstation input files?
In the meantime, can you post your formatted file for Journey into Nyx?
OK, so last night I was using Magic Workstation and I noticed that it can dump the card base to Excel. That gave me an idea to solve our Gatherer problem.
I dumped the card base to Excel, sorted for the "Journey into Nyx" cards and saved them as a separate file. Then I wrote a program to read in that Excel file and spit out a text file formatted for Magic the Database. A couple hours later I have a Magic the Database readable text file. There was a little post-process editing that needed to be done but that only took a few minutes.

Hey fellas, sorry I was gone so long, but I wasn't able to log on to MTGS after it was "Cursed" until today.
If you're still interested in lists, I like the looks of the mtgjson lists that are generated directly from Gatherer. I could write a script (in pretty much any scripting language) that transforms those lists into MTG the DB form.
On the other hand, I see roger has been using MTG Workstation as a source. Any issues with that? Maybe I don't need to do anything but update my download page with roger's lists.
I would love it if you did an update on your page. I missed some of rogers sendspace. dl's are gone. Thanks everyone for keeping Magic the Database alive!

For some reason when I use Magic Workstation's dump to Excel function about 5-10% of the cards' text doesn't get included. I haven't figured out what is causing that yet so I have to go through the list and check each one. It's not major but it does introduce the possibility of user error. I'd prefer a process that was 100% automated. I may look into it some more when I have some mroe time. A conversion directly from gatherer would still be the best way to go in my opinion.
Does anyone have Conspiracy set formatted for MtD? I don't have that one in Workstation so I cant export it.
Edi. ever mind I found an import for Magic Workstation and used my program to convert it to Magic the Database. Still a lot of manual steps since MS doesn't export the text on about 15% of the cards. Here is the link for Conspiracy: https://www.sendspace.com/file/r0x3is
Does anyone happen to know if there is still a location for the MTG_DB Software. I used to have it but haven't played magic for a long time and was looking for a way to organize my cards for selling.
Hey guys, sorry I haven't had time to figure out a new way to generate lists. And I won't have time for a while, I've got other projects going on.
However, if I can get the lists, I'll try to post them. If I come across the installer, maybe I'll put that up too.
Any interest in Magic the Database any more? I don't want to put work into it, if nobody wants it. If there's interest, I've got some spare time to get card lists going again...
I just discovered this thread, and I'm hoping someone can help me. I have Magic, the Database on my old computer, but I can't seem to migrate it to any other machine. When I do so, the program itself moves just fine, but it forgets all the cards I've added to the database since 2011 or so. When I search the old computer I find magicdb3.mdb, but no .mdb for version 5, which is the version I've been adding cards to for the past several years.
I can export the database to an Excel spreadsheet easily enough, but MtD doesn't appear to have an "import from Excel" function. Is there a trick I can use to either migrate the whole database to my newer computer, or to import the spreadsheet?
I'm getting back into Magic after a few years off. I'd like to still use my magic the Database since it has a record of which cards I own, unless there is something better now.
Does anyone have a way to just export the magic the database data into something like SQL?

I'll hopefully update properly soon.
Advice: Always back up your magicdb3.mdb file before updates. Just in case... (Hey, I didn't write it, I just use it.)
