My golly, that might actually fit into a tournament deck.
Only problem is - it forces you to play with Snakes. I'm not saying Snakes suck, it's just that the Patrons aren't automatic inclusions in all decks of those colors. They're a little narrow, but they certainly look strong!
Ok these are alot nicer, and seem to be nice in the appropriate tribes decks(duh). Big, cheap, instant-speed creatures with good abilities are generally good.:smile3:

just think of it as Ankh (you know... an Ankh) More Pork, Ian. That's how I remember it :tongue2: (without the e, anyway)
That's how to remember my name. Or, you could just read the Discworld Novels by Terry Pratchett. I recommend the second method.:)

And dear god, it's on the INTERNET! It has to be true!
...riight.
To add a little more than just whining about how I loved the fake one better, I must say that whoever manages to pull one of these Patrons at the prerelease...man, it's gonna be a slaughter. Seriously. I hope I pull one.
Actually, the Patrons are spirits that the races worship. They aren't snakes, rats, etc.
UPDATE!
An anonymous source saw this thread and didn't think we should have to suffer with these fakes. They dropped me some info, and here without further ado are the REAL cards.
Patron of the Nezumi - :5mana::symb::symb:
Legendary Creature - Spirit (R)
Rat offering (You may play this card any time you could play an instant by sacrificing a Rat and paying the difference in mana costs between this and the sacrificed Rat. Mana cost includes color.) Whenever a permanent is put into an opponent’s graveyard, that player loses 1 life.
6/6
Good Lord! This is a 6/6 effectively for if you drop a Chittering Rats on turn three... which can be played as an instant AND forces opponents (not yourself) to lose life! This is a playable card, no doubt about that.
Patron of the Orochi - :6mana::symg::symg:
Legendary Creature - Spirit (R)
Snake offering (You may play this card any time you could play an instant by sacrificing a Snake and paying the difference in mana costs between this and the sacrificed Snake. Mana cost includes color.) :symtap:: Untap all forests and all green creatures. Play this ability only once each turn.
7/7
Yikes! Another playable card! Imagine having an extra copy of Sosuke or something, so on turn 5 you play your 7/7 as an instant when they attack. Kill the attacker with your Patron, untap, and now you can double your mana at will! Plus, he untaps himself with the ability, so you can also swing for 7. Zoinks! :yikes:
Thanks, source!
WOW!
The Rat one is like a fixed version of disciple (opponents permanents, thoguh it applies to all permeanents, not just artifacts.) with a strong body. I can see these in the GB Deathcloud (Not really rock, people) decks, as if you use it, you force opponents to lose a lot of life with your clouds, even more than with kokusho.
THe snake one is insane. Double mana, double use of tapping abilites?

I love Joboman, Poggy, Niv, and Vezok, because, while they may not be the best players, they still try to win. Having fun is the most important thing to a game, but I've learned that if you don't try to win, then you're ruining everyone else's fun.
Nezumi- Pretty good actually. Not only is the creature huge, it's ability is one I've come to hate: "Lose one life when something goes to the graveyard." Those words haunt me, even if it is only when my stuff hits the graveyard (meaning they can't combo out with saccing).
Orochi- Oh how I wish snakes were playable. I really do. This creature would be awesome if that were the case. Definitely insane in limited.
Anybody there? What are the Patrons of Moonfolk and Akki? I know the Kitsune one.:tongue2: :wierd1:
Woah there man, double-posting can slide by once or twice but quadruple posting? Sorry man but learn to use the "Edit" button. I'll let you off this time, but next time you get a spam warning! -TNK
Aww, I'm kinda disappointed that the Black one wasn't real, as broken as it would have been. I may just be addicted to overpowered cards. These both still seem quite playable though.
Wow. Thanks as always, R_E. Lots of big expensive stuff lately. *Hoping for a slow-down* These will at the very least be fun in sort-of-tribal or casual decks.
What we're doing here is akin to taking the text of Moby Dick, locating specific words therein, rearranging them to create a passage from Fight Club, and concluding from this evidence that Tyler Durden is based on Ahab.
Uhm, just wondering...does Orochi Patron also untap your opponents stuff? Because that would make him a bit more of the suck if he did. Just asking is all.
...Holy crap. That card is AWESOME!!! I can see it now...
"Attack with all my creatures except Patron of the Orochi. One of them gets through, Nature's Will triggers. While that ability's on the stack, tap all my untapped lands. My lands then untap. Tap all my lands again. Tap Patron of the Orochi, all my forests untap. Then I'll filter it all into a fireball. You take... a lot."
(Does the mana pool empty before the end of combat step? <<)
Even without the Nature's Will part, that's still a sick idea.
Yes, it untaps your opponents green stuff and forests.
Which means agaisnt 50% of the format, it could cause troubles if used correctly.....

this set is making me think more and more about block. i wonder what decks will arise out of this block. perhaps reanimator? maybe even snakes, with this new snake patron. and samurai will get better with the cat thing. BoK is looking to be very interesting...
Wow! They're even better than the fakes!
Though I wouldn't play the green Patron if my opponent is also playing green.
But the black patron is good. Very good.:grin2:
These cards are certainly amazing. If anyone pulls one of these in the prerelease, its going to be a slaughter. With the right cards, I could totally see these being played in constructed and of course in limited these will be awesome.
yeah i see these cards being huge bombs in both limited and standard. the patron and orochi are just awesome. definitly a tide turner in the game. i see some potential with these cards.

Brian Tinsman, Set Designer can only be cast during the third set of a block.
When Brian Tinsman, Set Designer enters the battlefield, ignore all flavor and mechanics of the first two sets in the block. "Ok so what do we have here... gothic horror? Scrap it. Expand the Devine Vs. Demonic duel deck to 244 cards and print it!"

A personal (mono-green) Awakening on a very big stick is nothing to sneeze at.
*shudders at the idea of decks that will be made by my friends*
Although...play a heart beat, then, more than likely, you can hardcast the orochi patron the next turn even if you don't run any snakes at all.
Guildmaster Jarad
Actually..it looks more like a seedborn muse with a trigger, to me....but yours works too.
