You know what, screw speculation i'll just assume these are real as i write this (even though I have some doubt). That counterspell will be hailed as "the new force of will" but won't have very much success. The rest we either knew about or wern't very interesting.

The land will still be basic. Currently, nothing can add or remove supertypes such as "basic" from a permanent, and making the land an artifact in addition to a land won't change the fact that it's still basic.
- John Carter.
Landshaper cant turns a basicland into a non-basic land which can be destroy by splinter
Check again. Splinter removes artifacts from the game. It says nothing about non-basic lands. You may be thinking of Sowing Salt.

New Webcomic -- Genocide Man Life is funny. Death is funnier. Mass slaughter can be hilarious.
Heh, the Hikari combo will be fun in casual, heck, maybe as a finisher in W/U control. Either way, this is looking like another fun limited set with some things that might be interesting in constructed at some point.

Step 1: Misha's Groundbreaker (replace w/ myr landshaper) your opponent's land.
Step 2: Splinter all lands of that type away.
Step 3: Eternal Witness, repeat.

Those cards are pretty good, I've seen most of them before but not the flip card, which has a good ability but doesn't have something else like flying or something (the others do).
Opal-Eye doesn't look much like a kitsune....he looks like his frickin nose has been chopped off or something....
And to me, the black rat ninja looks exactly like Ink-Eyes (before she got all demon powered-up and all)

Far from it actually. That counter requires the X cost equal to the spell. Not X or less like many of the counters (or most cards for that matter).

Theory: female rats are ninjas, males are rogues / shamans / samurai? All the rats we saw in CHK were male, and now we see two female rats, both Ninjas. Coincedence?
Splinter says search for all cards with the same name as the artifact... even if those cards aren't artifacts. So yes, the combo works with Myr Landshaper. Mountain becomes an artifact mountain, then remove that artifact mountain and all cards that have the same name as that mountain.
Any bets that the cycle is changed to refer to nonbasic creatures, nonbasic artifacts, etc?
Assuming that the information we have already (that Splinter, Quash, and Eradicate will be reprinted by name) is complete and accurate, I'd like to bet against any changes to the card itself. They don't errata cards to change their function, unless their function was flawed in some way before. If it turns out we're getting the cycle but with different names, all bets are off.
I'm really liking the art for this block, and the power level so far of this set seems to be a bit higher than kamigawa's, which was needed. i'm looking forward to this prerelease even more now! (although i was really looking forward to it because it will be my first free PR ever! yay!)
I'm not one to criticize, but is it just me or does the art on "Patron of the Kitsune" look really bad. Same for "The Unspeakable." Anyway, thanks for the scans.

The best combo I can think of is: Spellweaver Helix-imprinting sway and a sorcery that can deal 7+ damage (Searing Flesh, Mindblaze)
You play the burn spell and sway of the stars goes onto the stack on top of it. Sway resolves leaving your opponent at 7, then... :evil2:
For Sway, I was thinking more along the lines of Hikari. Slide Hikari out during your opponent's end step. Untap and cast Sway. Hikari slides back in at the end of your turn. Game is reset, but your opponent is on a 2 turn clock. The only spell that could kill Hikari before Hikari kills them is Reciprocate, and a simple Reach Through Mists could counter that. Not bad, eh?

You're right, is Throat Slitter what people call Ink-Eyes that don't know her name <-(read victims)?

Life is so beautiful...
I'm glad to see some card scans here, good find!
I love some of these themes: Ninjas, Morbid elements (offerings and such), and some of these abilities are pretty cool too.
Plus, Genju of The Spires is a fun card.
