I like it... It's different... But it does seem like WotC made too much effort to make this different...
I don't this card will be very useful... For one, it only triggers on combat damage... It provides card disadvantage, and costs a bit too much to make the first few turns crucial... Generally, this will deal 1 damage at turn 2 and gain you 1 mana to work with...
no, that doesn't work. damage does have to resolve. the wicked thing, or any pumping creature, would get the bonus after damage resolved, therefore not helping. Interesting combo decks though, it'd be fun to play with if some more cards are printed that make it more consistant.
Well, someone said that if something drastic isn't printed, Block is going to be all about who can get the big fatties out the quickest. I can definately see this helping in that respect. It's a very creative card with some kewl potential. Being the combo player I am, I might try to build something around this :D.

What about this with that card from Onslaught that allows you to have another combat phase for 3RR. That and the Orochi mana converter=infinite attacks with a 5/5 or up=infinite attacks right?
i think the tricky ruling on this card is so that you can use the mana you get anytime from after the trigger resolves to end of turn, so you can use the mana anyways you chose, unlike creatures like Su-Chi
Another nice card (This doesn't say if its good or not.)
If you use it properly, you might be able to get some extra mana early in the game. Or maybe put it on a pumpable creature (?: ~ gets +1/+1). You can pump the creature, but still cast other things.
maybe they are trying to fill in that cycle from mirrodin they never finished....spikeshot and such....

if you are ever being chased by a police dog, try not to run through a tunnel, then over a little see-saw, then jump through a ring of fire. theyre trained for that
Well this is certainly interesting. While it's best home is probably in casual, it may have some uses in constructed as some odd form of mana accel or something. Whatever the case, it's an odd card. Cool, but odd. I'm just glad it's an uncommon though, as the ability could have easily made it a rare...
interesting card, it potentially provides decent mana acceleration with any size creature as long as you can guarantee it getting through and if you use it with a large creature possibly one with trample or doublestrike or both it creates a massive amount of mana.
That said the only problem is what to do with the mana, the fact the mana doesn't happen till after damage rules out any pumpable creatures(like killer bees if you're thinking mono green). You can potentially set up a 3 card combo with wicked akuba, mark of sakiko and orochi leafcaller, doing 2 damage with akuba to add 2 green mana then filtering through leafcaller to pay black mana to make the opponent lose 2 extra life(it's not a very good combo but if you add any green pump spells IE. might of oaks it becomes a lot better). The other option is to have some sort of filter for the mana like journeyer's kite.
Viridian Joiner is part of that cycle, and Vir. Joiner. is similar to this, except this doesn't need an unblocked creature.
What doesn't need an unblocked creature?
Mark of Sakiko seems sort of worthless to me. If it could be cast as an instant I would like it more, but as is most of the time the creature you enchanted will be blocked or destroyed. Not very amazing to me.
looks like the set is getting more interesting every new card we see. lots of cool abilities. dont know how usefull it'll be in constructed. time will tell. perhaps someone will find some combo with it.

You know, its not like the extra mana has to be used for a pumpable creature. You could always just skip through your first main phase, attack to build up a few points of mana, and then tap out during 2nd main phase to cast something big. Seems quite good to me, although not necassarily "hot."
not too much use... remember tangleroot?... if used with affinity could be wonderful, but noone use tangleroot...
the same would happen to this one...
i'm just glad this isn't rare, because it's such a waste of space...
why is it have to be uncommon too? if it's cost G it would still be "meh"...
it's much too situational, and most of the time, useless...
EDIT: (not tanglewire, but tangleroot...)
yes, nobody is playing affinity with tangle wire...
what i meant was tangle root would be more appropriate for affinity deck...
(now this'll make more sense........ or not....)
Very. . .um. . .strange enchantment. I like it, but I can't see much use for it right now. My first thought was Killer Bees, but that would require an extra attack phase to be of any use. I'm sure a rogue decker will figure out some use for it.

Wouldn't the damage have to resolve before the mana would be added to your pool?
