What we're doing here is akin to taking the text of Moby Dick, locating specific words therein, rearranging them to create a passage from Fight Club, and concluding from this evidence that Tyler Durden is based on Ahab.

Ooh! That's cool. I was making a set once with stuff like that.
Thanks as always R_E!

Is it really in BoK?... Strange they do 2 different cards with same global caracteristics (other than drawback) in 2 consecutive sets...
Indeed. I'm kinda curious how they'd make similar R/G/W cards.
And isn't it KasshyYyk?

Wow, and I was just about to say "Uhm... is it Hirobi?"
Other than the artifact eating Ravager... I don't know of many steady flow of counters cards that are actually standard playable that go well with this. I'm sure if the depletion lands used depletion counters like the IA ones.....
Anyway... there goes another rare slot.
LOL! I CAN POST! HOORAY!
As for the card...a use for That Which Was Taken? I can't think of many counters in CHK except something like Sensei Golden-Tail's training counters, and certainly can't think of any in blue. It seems too slow to compare to the Type 2 counter potential, with Modular and such. Meh. Not very good yet. Maybe if there are more counters.
nice body and evasion but the drawback is quite steep, i'd take thought devourer any day over that

The areas between the cities give them room for green and red creatures without having to print something like "Central Park Druid" or "Backyard Squirrel" or something.

Neat - something to go with Celestial Convergence. Don't know how well it would work with other cards from BoK. Ki flippers, perhaps.
Unstable Mutation? :smile2: Decree of Silence basically becomes "opponent can't play spells".
Cumulative Upkeep use age counters, so you can negate their upkeep along with Chisei's at the same time...
I'm sure there are a lot of uses. Being able to eat up any counter is actually quite an advantage.
That's not a bad idea with the Ki counters. Thanks to the "may flip" part of those flippers, it makes Chisei read "at the beginning of your upkeep, sacrifice Chisei unless you played a spirit or Arcane spell last turn." Not nearly as bad sounding. A terrible card in Limited and competitive Constructed, but how often does Blue get fatties like this? It'll see casual play.
Eh, I'm still undecided on this one.
On one hand, if this was an uncommon, it'd be great in limited, and it still is now, but it's kinda bleh..overall.

Lies! -I'm Buffy Summers, town tracker. I used my ability on you and saw that you didn't use any abilities before the game started. My flavor is I was sucked through a mysterious space-time portal and I'm here to kill all the vampires, and my tracking ability is a combination of my Slayer and Native American skills.
Well, he would've been decent in Mirrodin block, but he kinds sucks in BOK. Unless there are a plethora of counter-producing cards, this guy is probably horrible. Also, I have a feeling this is his pic:
Today is the day of mediocre blue cards. Yay! :wierd3:
Well, while the card is playable, it's no Horobi. Horobi's drawback overall wasn't always a drawback, serving as a form of easy spot removal. Blue on the other hand, which is supposed to have some of the stronger flyers out there, gets this, which has really no practical use. Sure a 4/4 flyer isn't bad, but finding a decent source to feed it is kind of counter productive (THAT WAS THE WORST PUN EVER.).
Well outside of T2, I believe cumulative upkeep is kept with counters, so we got some mighty tech there :confused2:.
I think the best card to work this with is Sensei Golden-Tail, because the counters are only for memory-aids: if you remove the counter, the effect remains.
The unstable mutation idea is good, but otherwise this card is meh. Indentured Djinn got played by me...sometimes. Troublesome Spirit could be worked around, but those cards weren't Legendary.
That makes this card not as good compared to others, especially since there aren't many times cards in this block would rather you remove than add counters.
It seems it should be in Darksteel and be 5/5. I'd rather not worry about the counters business and Legendary status and play Air Elemental. And the last time I saw Air Elemental played was when I was a MTG n00b back in '01.

So apart from ki counters in BOK, how many cards in CHK can feed this guy? (And how many would you want to waste the counters of?)
Devotion counters
Myojins
Pious Kitsune
Bloodthirsty Ogre
Aim counters
Hankyu
+1/+1 counters
Jugan, the Rising Star (after death)
Otherworldy Journey (only 1 counter)
Shimatsu the Bloodcloaked
Theft counters
Night Dealings
Charge counters
Orochi Hatchery
Training counters
Sensei Golden-Tail
Wow, this card really does bite.
B Can you solve The Enigma Puzzle ?
That's pretty evil. I love it.
