This just came to me from a completely anonymous source, with no explanation or anything. I have no idea who the person is, but because of some collateral information I've seen, I'm led to believe this is real. I'd give it about an 80% chance but I'll let you have a look and tell me what you think.
Flames of the Blood Hand -
Instant (U)
Flames of the Blood Hand deals 4 damage to target player. The damage can't be prevented. If that player would gain life this turn, that player gains no life instead.
A pretty rude response to Nourish or something like that. You think you're gaining 6? No, you're losing 4 instead. Ouch!
Also, prevents damage prevention, which is cool. Circle of Protection: Red is useless against Flames. Sweet.
Looks like a solid uncommon. 4 damage to the dome, as an instant, with perks, for 3 splashable mana. *slurp*
Nice. It's good to see red get some real direct damage, after all the "deal damage to creature dealt damage this turn". The lifegain makes it even better, and the lack of prevention makes this a excellent card.
I'm liking this sudden flood of information :smile01:
And as for the card, I really like it! It's a solid burn spell...will be very nice in limited. I hope to see some in the prerelease.
Oh, please let it be real...

Lies! -I'm Buffy Summers, town tracker. I used my ability on you and saw that you didn't use any abilities before the game started. My flavor is I was sucked through a mysterious space-time portal and I'm here to kill all the vampires, and my tracking ability is a combination of my Slayer and Native American skills.
you guys give this spell too much credit. Against a dedicated life gain deck, this is great (but you should win those games anyway...)
but most of the time, this is a lava spike for 3 mana, and is not even arcane.
In addition, it is completely outclassed by pulse of the forge
This is pretty good, but i see it mostly as help for a block sligh deck. If that decks works out, which i really hope it does.

Nice, an efficent coup'd egrat, as well as an answer to life gain. I can see that in a burn deck, or pretty much any red deck. Not a nesseity, but it's good enough to see play.

Banana of the Month Feb '05 Cool stuff here.
Actually this isn't really great in limited because it doesn't target. But in a constructed environment this can greatly help to beat silly white enchantments and the likes. Instant is a nice bonus too...I am still a little skeptical though whether three mana is going to cut it in stuff like MonoRed.
OH BOY! FINALLY A WAY TO MAKE LIFEGAIN DECKS LOSE!
In all seriousness, it's not gonna see play. It's Pulse of the Forge, only with a useless extra ability (who plays lifegain?) and splashability, and without the return to hand clause.

I guess you don't follow Extended, eh? This looks like a solid sideboard choice for any red deck against Life.dec. It's not too great in most other situations, but it looks like it could be useful there.
I'm not sure if anyone said this yet, but it's a great help to RDW against Life in extended...that matchup improves dramatically with this card.
EDIT: I guess it was talked about already, but yes, this is very good against Life. Playing this 3rd turn or so may allow you to kill them before they can assemble the combo pieces again. 16 (or less, depending on the first few turns) damage can happen quickly enough that Life doesnt get another chance.
very nice burn card.. 4 damage, instant so it can be played in response to some big life gain spell (which it would in effect counter) and it cant be prevented? sign me up
Decent sideboard tech against Pulse of the Fields because you swing, with slogger or something, then when they try to pulse after damage you respond with this and its GG.
What we're doing here is akin to taking the text of Moby Dick, locating specific words therein, rearranging them to create a passage from Fight Club, and concluding from this evidence that Tyler Durden is based on Ahab.
another downside is that they could always still gain the life in response to this spell, before the "no life" hits.

New Rules come out for 1999 6th Edition... "THEY'RE TURNING MAGIC INTO PORTAL! THE GAME IS RUINED! EVERYONE PETITION AND GET THEM TO CHANGE IT BACK!"
New Rules come out for 2010 Edition... "THEY'RE TURNING MAGIC INTO YU-GI-OH! THE GAME IS RUINED! EVERYONE PETITION AND GET THEM TO CHANGE IT BACK!"
New Rules come out for *Reserved for something in 2020* "THEY'RE TURNING MAGIC INTO *currently "simple" game by the more "skilled" players*! THE GAME IS..." etc.
how is it a downside that they can gain life. What do you want the card to say "players cant gain life this turn, not even before this spell resolves"??? That is not a downside, its an upside, your opponent just spent a nice chunk of mana and two cards (lets say nourish) to gain 2 life. WOW, getting card advantage in return for your opponent gain ing 2 life!!! thats just un........wait......nights whisper is a good card right?? haha ok then.

Stopping lifegain, and dealing unpreventable damage...hilarious.

HA!.. No life for you!

They sacrifice the creature with the abnormally high toughness, so...

Guildmaster Jarad
Yeah, if they have an instant-speed lifegain spell in hand and the extra mana leftover to play it.
That's kind of like saying "the downside to countering Naturalize is that they can always just Naturalize it again". Logic?
