I have a feelin this will replace the original counterspell. What am I kidding I would rather have any of the other four mana counterspells than this one. How far blue has fallen. (not really, but I'm saying it has, so there)
Edit: On second look it is better than the one that put a creature into play, but that one isn't really a counterspell in my mind.
im not an expert on counterspells, but 4 does seem rather high for a counterspell.. getting to see the opponent's hand is nice, but not that good.. its interesting, but nothing really exciting that i can tell.. (it is a common at least)
no it won't. rewind and last word are both strictly better than this. This card may have no disadvantage, but it also has no advantage, which both last word and rewind do.
Yeah, 4 mana... counterspells can't cost that much unless they draw you a card or something. Looking at their hand is barely worth maybe :1mana:. This is clearly not as good as the original Counterspell.
Oh, I got the official wording for a card we basically knew.
Floodbringer - Creature - Moonfolk Wizard (C) Flying :2mana:, Return a land you control to its owner’s hand: Tap target land. 1/2
Not bad, I mean it's a Wizard, which is cool, and it's 1/2 flying for 2, which is decent, and it has an ability which might come in handy, and it's common.
meh, a few decent things in blue, but I still don't think blue is going to be that good in draft. If you've got bombs and need support the stuff's alright, but it's not that great in draft which makes it fairly horrible in constructed

well i am , and this is complete garbage., i need a throw up smiley to describe this. Edit: [Thanks R_E] :puke:
The moonfolk is pretty cool, flying is always good.
Well this counterspell lets you see the person's hand...
Player A: I play Sundering Titan.
Player B: I counter that, now let me see your hand
Player A reveals a TnN.
Player B: Ah crap.
As you see once you counter the spell it shows you what you should have countered.
Allegedly a counterspell costs :1mana::symu::symu:, and looking at a player's hand is a negligable(sp?) bonus only in the mirror, and I believe it costs (We need half mana smilies!) half a mana. Some cards are pushed, this one is definately not.
Floodbringer is kinda meh
rancored_elf - You need to change your card-text font color for the benefit of us night owls. I hear having to highlight text all the time is tedious.
Well with a name like Minamo's Meddling I was half expecting a card like this...
Minamo’s Meddling - :symu::symu:
Instant (C) As an additional cost to play Minamo's Meddling, return two lands you control to your hand. Counter target spell. That spell’s controller reveals his or her hand.
I agree with everyone else here. It pretty much sucks. 4 mana is just way too much mana to be an effective counterspell, and the bonus of getting a one time look at your opponents hand in no way justifies the cost.
It seems that wizards has put the hard counter at 2UU with a bonus. although is strictly the worst bonus so far. Last Word couldn't be countered. Rewind let you untap the lands and even discombobulate with the four card index was better. but it still seems to fit with what Wizards has been doing.
that would be two hard counters at 2UU if quash is truly in the set although quash is for sorcery and instants only
Sorry, I can only cater to one forums "skin", so I cater to the one I use. Black text on light background. If you've got your settings so that you can't read my text, I can't help ya.
Blue lost its big gun when Counterspell wasn't put in 8th now it is becoming the splash color. But I can most honestly assure you Wizards will bring back big bad blue sometime in the future. If only you can wait that long.
My god, this card is horrible. I weep for the future of Blue. When will the whell turn once more, and blue regain its place as a colour of magic, as oposed to its current status as half a colour...
Here I was all excited about a possible reprint of Ertai's Meddling
Yeah, I keep telling myself blue will be back, "Look at Hinder...it's a step in the right direction" and then WOTC pulls this.
Sadly, I can't say there is ANYTHING in BoK so far that makes me want to pre-order a playset, or try and get any of this set at all.
i think thats' why they printed this, hinder is actually playable and quite good. Making another good counter over the top in a champions environment.
I think BoK will be like fifth dawn, the lowest of the low, with a few crazy additions just to pick up some singles. Furthermore, based on the projected numbers so far, the champions blocked, taking into consideration the growth of the magic community, will be statistically the worst selling block if it remains on schedule as it is.
In a format with taking no real advantage of opponent's hand (in contradiction to extended where you have i.e. cabal therapy or blood oath) this is a crap. But hey, even if there would be many spells that take advantage of knowing opponent's hand it would still suck because it costs 2 mana leaks to play. Vanitas vanitatum....
Well, knowing the opponent's hand could help with something like Mindslaver too, knowing when it's worthwhile to use it. And countering a spell they tap out for then seeing their hand will give you an idea of what you should let through later and what you should save your other counters for.
Example: MUC vs. TNN. MUC went first, and has 4 open mana (Mox/3 Islands) with Meddling and Hinder in hand. TNN plays the final piece of Urzatron and casts Platinum Angel. MUC uses Meddling (hinder bad for countering TNN creatures) to counter the Angel. TNN reveals 2 minor threats, 2 Forests, and a Tooth and Nail. Guess what MUC is saving that Hinder for.
It's still crappy, but there ARE uses for it. And in Limited, it's still a hard counter.
Clearly not that good, but honestly, hard counters should cost at least four IMO. I remember a time when we had pushed counters like FoW, Counterspell and Forbid, and I don't want to EVER face such a metagame again, since it's just plain unfun.
This comes from a good source - same source as Crack the Earth.
Minamo’s Meddling -

No comment! :disgust4:

SHOCKED....They valued a hard counterspell 4mana....
