erm.. mayb it's mi eye.. but after i zoom in the pic, and after confirmation wif mi friend, both of us tink tt the num is 94..
That's what I came up with as well... I thought I may have just been mistaken though... Maybe we have Blazing Shoal in the wrong spot? Well no, it cannot be 94... we have 4 cards confirmed in red that would come before this, so at most, it could be 95, if we had the Shoal in the wrong spot...
solid card... this block is almost making red playable. almost...
having the ability to gain clear creature advantage without really losing anything in order to gain that advantage can turn the tide of ANY game (provided your opponent has creatures in their deck...)
Yikes, poor argument! You're saying that "gain control of target creature until end of turn" is less powerful than Shock? Even if it was, there's nothing wrong with dealing one damage. Two damage is a one-sided Wrath of God? Umm... no?.
Getting to distribute 8-10 damage across your opponents creatures certainly seems like wrath to me. Unless they have like Moss Kami or some huge beater, everything is going down in flames with damage to spare. Regardless, you come out too far ahead. Thats a huge problem in limited... especially from a card in the UNCOMMON SLOT!
At one damage, you just remove 2-3 counters to take out a single creature. From a R&D standpoint, this seems more like a delayed FTK then fitting in flavor with the rest of the Ki's.
As it is, this is basically a huge guy that removes blockers... and that seems pretty red to me.
It doesn't give haste but the "take control after end of turn step of your opponent" is available! You can already do it in ChK with Kiki-Jiki: so why could it be different with that guy?!
Because "At end of turn" and "until end of turn" are different. "At end of turn" effects (like Kiki-Jiki) trigger at the beggining of the cleanup phase. If you wait until after those triggers to activate an "at EOT" ability, it will remain until the next cleanup step. "Until end of turn" effects are just that. When a turn ends, the effect ends. There is no trigger there.
Not so much with this guy, but with other betrayers you want to flip ASAP in order to get out of shock/ray range. Not to mention the green and white flippers can protect themselves. Still, he has potential. The 5 power is very nice (haven't seen 5 power for 3 mana without a big drawback in a while...) and the ability is abusable in the right deck. Obviously sacrifice effects work well, though untap effects are equally useful. In R/U (limited), steal an attacker, reach through mists, untap it with your teller. Stealing an attacker in any case removes that creature from combat, and stealing a creature before the attack will make them think really hard about attacking. Also, in limited, people generally don't alpha strike every turn. So you can use one of their untapped creatures as a blocker (though said untap creatures often have abilities...). Or nab something with Vigilance. Or a powerful spiritcraft trigger (i.e. Samity's Eclipse).
This card looks very nice indeed! Definately be great in limited and most likely block, not sure though as I haven't attempted any block decks yet. Might be something to consider for Type 2 as well, with Hearth Kami and Glacial Ray easily being playable spells to trigger the bandit. Stealing Ravagers is some good.

Anyhow, I didn't say that I thought the creature would be fair if it granted haste to the stolen creatures, nor did I say that it should do so. I just said that taking away haste slightly changes red's piece of creature-theft pie.
A perfectly powerful effect might be "deal two damage to target creature".
i kinda figured the ability would be "Remove a ki counter : it gets +2/+0" or something similar, with this ability its pretty powerful..
this is a bomb rare in the new chk format, although unplayable now; it wouldn't provide any change to the current t2 environment (tier 1). This will be a money rare in the future, a la solemn.
Wow. A creature with a weak Threaten ability. Be still, my heart. Anyway, on the upside, it can remove a creature from combat or it can get you a creature in case you need to sacrifice one. Just make sure you have lots of Spirit and Arcane spells.
Two questions: What is the number? is it 98?
Also, could someone put it into the spoiler?

I like, it, it's very powerful, especially because the thievery is at instant speed. What would be awesome would be something that gives creatures Ki counters, like an artifact or something...

My flavor is I was sucked through a mysterious space-time portal and I'm here to kill all the vampires, and my tracking ability is a combination of my Slayer and Native American skills.

When Guildpact was handed over from design, it also had seven gold rares per guild,... and that the seventh gold rare in each guild was less important to the set than the Nephilim. So each guild is down a rare in this set.

This is my Jackal Pup. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My Jackal Pup is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. My Jackal Pup without me is useless. Without my Jackal Pup, I am useless. I must tap my Jackal Pup true. I must tap faster than my enemy who is trying to kill me. I must beat him down before he beats me down. I will.
Akarat said: But it is NOT a bomb, because the creatures don't get HASTE. And because your opponent knows that the card is on the table, it's no big surprise...
Excellent point. But you're still wrong. The surprise factor is missing. With blind with anger and grab the reigns you could pull all sorts of steal your guy block your guy stuff, but the added bonuses of this card make it an absolutely bomby bomb. Lets review:
Creature, granted this does add an aspect of vulnerability, it also adds however an element of smash-your-face-in-ability.
Reusability, Charge up his kai to say four or five before letting him flip and you will win the game. repeated ray of command can just swing the board in your favor so violently and unstoppably that, surprise factor aside this is probably the best limited card in the set, hands down.
lose instant speed, surprise factor of blind with anger
gain big swingy body
gain reusability
ALso note that this is NOT a rare. I plan on opening three in my pre release sealed deck.
The creature can be legendary. Imagine the look on your oponent's face when they play a Myojin, of Life's Web or Seeing Winds and you take it, and then remove the divinity counter.
Also, the creature doesn't untap. So, you can't take your oponent's tapped Yosei and attack them with it.
But, if your oponent attakcs with two dragons, you can take the one with the better death effect, kill both, and get the better effect.
Or, if you're playing U/R (huh?), and have out a teller of tales, you can play a phsycic puppetry to flip this guy, as well as to untap both dragons (don't forget the teller), and then take them both, and attack with a surprise ten damage that basically cost you 1U to do this turn. It's even better if you can sacrifice the dragons somehow.
I really like this card. A 5/2 for 3 mana, plus the ability to take creatures. Thats awesome! The only thing that I dont like is that it isnt a Human Barbarian like Godo.
Akarat, amassing 4 or even 5 kai counters is no large feat. Ask yourself, the last time you drafted a dedicated spirit craft deck how many times per game you triggered spiritcraft. Even 2 or three counters can win games. I see people getting hung up on the cant attack part of this card. Yes its unfortunate but keep in mind all the possibilitys that still exist.
Removing their blockers so your other creatures can attack.
Sac outlets such as blood rites, devouring greed, devouring rage, Fear demons upkeep sac, steal an ogre to avoid such a sac
and the most common steal a guy block your guy they both die, 2 for, wait, 2 for 0!! hah, and i can do it again next turn.
I predict this becomes the kind of first pick that fireball was in darksteel. You see it, you take it. Only difference was that could be splashed, this will make you play red.
I said it before and I'll say it again - YOU CAN'T 2-for-0 WITH THIS. Its an on board trick so your opponent isn't going to be dumb enough to attack into you with only half his guys. Also, you can't untap his creatures so you have no game plan if he swings with everyone.
ALL he does is removes blockers in two ways. Either you steal them during your own turn or force your opponent to attack with everything leaving no one to block. He's certainly no bomb, but having a five power creature that is potentially unblockable could be good.
This card really has the potential to smack your opponents face. If you can get one of his creatures as an attacker you can ninjitsu out you your ninja returning his creature to his hand and you getting a Ninja.

I would agree that if you can play this guy, he is a complete bomb, seeing as he prevents your opponent from doing prettymuch anything.
However, red is mostly used as a splash color, so amassing those 2 red mana can be quite a feat. He can really only be played if red is a primary color, although he might be good enough to hatedraft if you are in a 6 man draft and maybe even an 8 man.

Actually, you can go 2-for-0 with it. Attackers are declared before they tap, so he declared his two dragons as attackers, you take one, the other gets tapped, and they both die.
