This is true, in part. However, the additional 'unblockablility' is something that, at one point, is almost always going to be useful. 9/10 times, you're going to play a limited game where you and your opponent are landlocked or your opponent has more stuff in play or you need to push those last points in but can't. This solves that problem and offers to protect your creatures on top of that. When I first said 'omg- first pick lol', I was probably out of my mind. But I do think this is a 4-7th pick IF you already have a solid creature base.
It can randomly be usefull in some circumstances, but stuff like Unearthly Blizzard are only playable in the most dedicated beatdown decks, (and it enables a lethal alpha strike), which is not something that blue typically supports. After BoK, a red/blue beatdown deck may be viable, but I'm still going to say that the card is going to sit on the sidelines more often than not. But time will tell.
The Blue card is pretty bad. One shot untargetability and invisibility is not even worth a card. The splice cost makes it at least playable, able to save a blue creature of yours from some removal spell, still this is nothing to get excited about and a 23 filler card at best.
ROar of Jukai, now heres a card. Cards like this are incredible, while not nearly as strong as Stir the Pride or Roar of the Kah this card as the same kind of game changing effect that makes it a real winner. Whether played or spliced your opponent will leave the combat in a daze not knowing what happened or how his creatures all got to the graveyard.
It just hit me how interesting Ninjutsu is worded.
"Return an unblocked attacker..." and not
"Return target unblocked attacker..."
Clearly the veil was designed for Ninjas.
Nope, that wording has completely different reason. And that is that returning of a creature is a COST for Ninjutsu. And costs NEVER target. Compare to Myr Enforcer, for example.
Veil of Secrecy is a Ninja Deck's dream. Entering combat your opponent tries to kill a creature before it has been declared unblocked and thus ninjutsuable. In response you make it untargettable AND unblockable, meaning it has to go through unblocked at which point it can be exchanged for a ninja. Even better if you have any cheap arcane spells you can play that and pay the splice by bouncing a ninja which you then can put back into play by using the targetted creature. Its just sick...

or they can just wait till they declare blockers...and block your creature...if you use that spell after declaring attackers they can use their kill in response...damn stack.

“Game over,” Lursen said. “Demon’s Horn.”
Demon’s Horn has a reputation in multiplayer games, Lursen said.“Usually if somebody in multiplayer plays a Demon’s Horn, we all just immediately attack that person, because he’s going to win,” Lursen said.
Veil of Secrecy is incredibly synergistic with ninjutsu, moreso than the obvious. Because ninjutsu will encourage tricks/kill before declaring blocks, the Veil will be much more useful- if they don't shoot your guy until after blocks, you can use a ninja to switch him out, and if they shoot before, you can use the Veil.
Also, Roar of the Jukai seems to be seriously underrated for limited play here. As important as five life CAN be, it isn't always. Limited is all about creating card advantage and building a positive board position. Roar of the Jukai is a recurring Bushido 2 for all your creatures while on the attack, and it doesn't even have to cost you a card. It's not right for all decks, but for something like R/G, you would be able to rule the ground, trading your random bears for amazing things like Kitsune Blademaster or Kabuto Moth, often without losing your own creatures. Especially with splice- I wouldn't be surprised to see this spliced onto a cheap arcane spell and then hardcast- talk about punishing blocking.
Finally, Roar of the Jukai has amazing synergy in U/G or B/G decks, if people take Randy Buehler's advice and start blocking as their default position- you can punish your opponent for blocking or for not blocking.

"Beat the drum slowly, play the fife lowly,
Play the dead march as you carry me along,
Take me to the green valley, lay the sod o'er me,
I'm a young cowboy, and I know I've done wrong."
Neither of them are bad in limited, as they have their uses in some cirmcunstances, but they're not constructed playable, I like the blue trick though.
If blue had one really good comes into play creature then the veil of secrecy would be REALLY GOOD. I am almost wanting to look through all the blue cards in type 2 just to find one..........OMG..........merchant...of..... .secrets .................................................................................................................
wow, i just won. I broke veil of secrecy, but really i want to find a goor comes into play creature now. That costs less than 8 mana ((hoverguard sweepers, WHY MUST YOU TAUNT ME SO))

Ok so maybe this isn't as good as I think it could be, but imagine this card in block constructed with teller of tales and some of the other "whenever you play a spirit or arcane spell" cards. You've got unblockability to smash in for the win, combined with bouncing a creature (likely a small spirit) back into your hand. You already have reach through mists and other cheap arcane spells in blue to activate teller of tales once and allow for the splice. Recast that spirit and you've tapped another creature. The combination of tapping thier creatures and making yours unblockable makes it fairly easy to swing in with both teller (tap their flyers) and something else. Not to mention you've got that re-cast spirit for blocking next turn, along with the uncast veil and whatever else.
Add in black and thief of hope to drain their life, or green and soilshaper to send lands at them, or best yet red and earthshaer to kill everything on the ground, leaving your teller alone at the same time. Sounds like some pretty powerful, reusable combat tricks all packed into one card.
Add the ability to protect up to three of your own creatures, and the ability to play it on their creatures who are about to be enchanted, and I think you have a common with enough versatility to be one of the best in the set.
This card is interesting to me... it doesn't seem astoundingly good at first read (aside of course from considerable synergy with a ninja deck), but I can't help wishing that a sundering titan/ninja deck were playable... bounce and replay titans left and right, destroying all sorts of lands... now if only he didn't cost 8 mana
