Man this is a really cool card. Not only do you get to slow down your opponents game - if there ever is going to be an Arcane Deck stuff like this is definately going to be needed...it's not an instant though...but hey, I am not complaining
...now back to thinking about how to break this card into a deck
hmm.. Its neat, and it will definitvly see play, but its not powerfull, its more of a good card wich is usable under the right conditions...

The classic Red card that is card disadvatage yet still good against some control as a slowdown card. I almost like this in Ravager as a way to hold back your opponents.
This could be alright in a zubera deck: play out a couple of zubera and then a couple of these to make your opponents lose cards and your zubera effects trigger. Especially good with the green one because it gives you another creature to sac to crack the earth. Also could be useful in a shrine-based deck. The green shrine gives you tokens to sac to it, or it can be used to get rid of a shrine that you have a duplicate of in your hand (which really doesn't lose you card advantage since it'd be a dead card anyways).

playing first, 1st turn, mountain, crack the earth!!! (mini L-D...)
what's that? you don't have any permanent in play?? aww crap...
seriously though, this won't see play... in constructed/limited...
well the zubera interaction is nice, but you just wasted an empty slot in your deck that can be used to put another zubera...
Well you could do this: Crack the earth, saccing a zubera, in response to its ability's trigger, sac a couple more zubera to the effect of your choice (goblin bombardament is decent for this i hear)

O man! Innocent Blood meets Misguided Rage!
Raze was never a powerhouse... a Raze that gives your opponent the option of killing off something else is even less of a powerhouse.
Time Walk...?
I think that any deck that has a way to consistently get out multiple zuberas as well as a way to sacrifice them in groups would be better off without this card. I mean whats the point of saccing a zubera to get one more card off the opponents board, when you are going to have 3+ zubera trigger anyway? that should give you enough of a swing in tempo and control.
This would be played in a sligh deck if anything, but it seems like a good fit in a sligh deck right now.

The next guy who says "oh, its a time walk!" will get a volcanic hammer in the back of their heads.. seriosuly.. its barley playable.. Its not terrible, but thats about it...
Spam warning for this post, which only appears to serve the purpose of complaining about other people who like card. If you must "just say no to crack the earth", at least give a reason besides saying it's not playable. Also, refrain from acting like you're gonna get all violent on us or something. Come on, it's a message board.

I must say Cube Drafting is Fun. Since its mostly the only drafting i do.
Attack step ok, oh wait i would like to cryptic command. im sorry its too late to do that.
this is a good card and it will be an insane card in freshmaker, ponza and/or land destruction.
well in land destruction, stone rain would be better, since it doesn't cost you a permanent and you can actually CHOOSE which lands to destroy...
scenario:
a : 1st turn, crack the earth!!
b : okay, sac ornithopter...
my turn, arti-land, arcbound worker via vial, frogmite x2, cranial plating, go...
a : aw crap...
compare to stone rain
a : 3rd turn stone rain!!
b : okay my glimmervoid's gone...
my turn, arti-land, disciple via vial, ravager, frogmite x2, go...
a : aw crap...
Interactions like land-hating-Akki/God's Eye/Crack the Earth may push Crack the Earth from "bleah, it's just Raze" (my initial impression) into Constructed-worthy territory.
In a vacuum, CtE = "just Raze," but the more cards I see, the more I think WotC is bashing us with the clue bat ... they're clearly pushing the "land matters" Akki deck for Block. In that deck, where you get additional bonuses for destroying your own or your opponent's land, CtE will be solid.
It depends on what kind of synergies CtE has with the other cards in your deck, because on its own, it's no worldbeater. You don't generally win games by giving away cards. But if you're getting something *extra* -- a combat boost, an extra guy -- to compensate for destroying your own or your opponent's permanent, that goes a long way toward recouping the card loss.

This is my Jackal Pup. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My Jackal Pup is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. My Jackal Pup without me is useless. Without my Jackal Pup, I am useless. I must tap my Jackal Pup true. I must tap faster than my enemy who is trying to kill me. I must beat him down before he beats me down. I will.
not bad either with the new red bandit that gains control of creatures. It's in most cases a weird LD spell but better than raze because you can sac something else like genjus, creatures you grabbed, and perhaps cards like Kokusho or Kiki-Jiki? Even good with the new Reanimation spell. Good common, better than a bunch of the others thats for sure.
well it may see serious play vs. affinity. They keep on one land with such as ive seen it may shut them down but ill play it for sure in the new deck..... i think ill call it "burning raze"

yes turning of the tide that was a nice, props on breaking the deck
well after looking through other spoiled card...
i think this would make an interesting combo with that red flipper that can gain control of target creature...
(well i think someone would've pointed this out by now, but since i'm too lazy to browse this thread... :tongue2: )
and it can be done in limited, since the red flipper is only an uncommon...
Who picks what they are sacrificing first? If it is the active player, then this is not nearly as good. You can't sac a Pacified guy, because they will just sac the Pacifism, for example. Hmm.
a new version of Ponza will be a big thing in this cycle, and this card is to save the trouble to pack non-land destruction cards to handle other types like Enchantment, Creatures, Artifacts etc. With some sort of iteration method, this will be a nightmarish deck to deal with.
This actually open up opportunity/answer for pure red deck against enchantment. No fair.
NOTE: Enchant land (Genjus) will really get out of control... be prepare to face it.
...now back to thinking about how to break this card into a deck

red has misguided rage back in the onslaugh block (forgot which expansion), no one has used that...
even if this sees play, the enchantment controller would probably sac a land, or a useless creature instead...
if you want an enchantment.dec hoser for red... try the aura bard...
