Well boys and girls, looks like we've found at least one card to try to break from this set. There has to be some way to abuse this. I just can't figure it out yet...
WOW! This will see constructed play in Mono B control/cloud!
Cheap, 2/2 with bushido, yagmoth's will ability for instants. Best of all it doesn't have to be the one to kill the creature!
I love it, definately will see alot of play in some format.
So whenever a creature an opponent controls dies, you can essentially flashback any instant in your graveyard? plus he's a 2/2 bushido 1 for 3. I like him.
Edit: that's a pretty nice combo with the orchard... I may have to get my hands on an orchard and a night of soul's betrayl now...
very nice and cheap, but the wording on the card is so bizarre in that last sentence... i'm assuming they mean the instant spell, but would it go into the graveyard if it's being played in a graveyard?
is it me or are they having a really tough time cutting to the chase with some wording on Kamigawa cards?
Play standpoint: Definitely a card that will be fun to try and break. Will definitely see constructed play, even if it's just because it appeals to Johnny.
Flavor standpoint: I'm very disappointed with the card flavorwise. Toshi did not strike me as being a samurai at all in the book. He was a rogue. Straight up. Undeniable. Also, his ability should have had at least SOMETHING to do with Arcane. The book revealed that his "Kanji magic" was derived from Kami (thus, Arcane). His power also was absolutely NOT tied to things dying. The card is completely out of flavor.
Overall: A 2/2 bushido 1 for 3 mana is always good in limited, and his ability could definitely be abused (double the fun with any Rend spell). In constructed there will definitely be attempts to break him. They may or may not succeed. It's a respectably powerful card, which Toshi certainly should be. I just wish they would have made it match the character better.

That sentence is there to address the issue of Buyback. Use Buyback, the instant goes to your hand, not the yard.
Smaller than I expected, I mean he killed the Green Myojin(with the help of Black Myojin) but a 2/2 for 3 is constructed playable, and that what we wanted, a Constructed Playable Toshi.
Anyone else find it amusing that Subterranean Spirit was mentioned in an article about sending creatures to the graveyeard?

Well, you can't really say his power wasn't tied to things dying, since he used blood to scribe his kanji most of the time... of course, the blood didn't have to come from a dying creature, more often than not it came from himself... but he did use the blood of dying creatures on several occasions.
Man, I think BOK is getting better and better. This card is a beast and is just begging to be broken. The Orchard-Toshi-Night combo could be something for block, and maybe a Mirrodin-less Type 2. It's not too expensive, but with Sowing Salt in the format, it could become fragile.

"A question well served: 'Is silence like a fever?'" - Dream Theater, The Silent Man
this one has potential, somewhere. Especially in Kamigawa Block, this one card can turn a single kill card in hand into a chain of cards played from your graveyard, as long as you have the mana. The combo I was thinking of first has already been said, but this can also turn weenie rushes into flurries of instants coming back to haunt the defender.
All in all, I give it 9 and a:flame: . Good card

Some wonder why I carry 8 decks on me. The answer? I get tired of being boarded against in casual games, and 90% of the players I meet can't beat a jank deck I made to be tokens for a serious one.
this card basicly makes all your removal spells a 2 for 1. Minght work in some mono black agrro decks. And can also be used to abuse some overcosted instants, maybe BR for inferno or BU for card drawing. Its a neat card with good potential.

Cool card, like the yawgs win throwback. I'm glad they didn't make it arcane instants only.

Brain hurt when I first read it, but he's pretty awesomea.
and cheap.
But, to me, him being a samurai makes be go . I thought he would be a Rouge or somesuch.

Tap the orchard, the token instantly dies, use the floating mana to do something spiffy from graveyard.

I collect Foil Dragons and Foil Angels. Got one for me?
Two removal spells for the price of one!
Oxidize hisfrogmite , then oxidize hismyr enforcer, unless he has an arcbound ravager in play. Then you just have to wait until you play the viridian shaman to use oxidize again.

I really like this card, I think that it has potential... potential indeed. I'll personally going to be playing this in some way or the other.
