"We call these “super bad” cards. A good example of this card is Sword of the Chosen from Stronghold. The card is so bad that it inspired one of the funniest pieces of fan fiction I have ever seen explaining how the card was designed. We don't make these “super bad” cards often (although Saviors of Kamigawa does have one), but every once in a blue moon they're fun to print."
That's a lovely first bit of official info, eh? God help us. Heh.
Well, if it's more like Shared Fate or Sword of the Chosen and less like...*is almost afraid to link in fear of spawning a demon*....Mudhole, I won't mind.
that's not what happened at all. kamahl stabbed phage, akroma, and some old lady and they became korona. then korona got stabbed by her "prophets" and kamahl got drunk with a mutant centaur
It's not like there aren't useless cards in every set, though I'd really like to see what he's talking about to understand why they printed this thing if it's as bad as he's implying.

I bet you'll have fun trying to figure out what it is until SOK gets here just knowing that it'll suck. I'll not be participating in the speculation either, as there's nothing to speculate.
I wonder.. THink there might be a chance of them reprinting the Wishes from Judgment? There is a very strong "Remove From the Game" theme in the block right now, what with the reprinting of the Lobotomy cycle, Cranial Extraction, and Ornate Kanzashi.
I think the wishes is a little unlikely... but never say never.
As for Sword of the Chosen... we've already got Tenza and Konda's Banner that like being on legends... and they are not doing T: target creature gets blah artifacts much anymore, because of equipment. (Tooth&Scale were an exception because of mirrodin's sheer quantity of artifacts, plus the instant-speed-ness).
Well, It might be useless but it wont be a reprint of the sword.. but anyhow.. It gonna be fun the break a card deemed bad by R&D upfront.. ^^

Istanbul: They wouldn't. Affinity was a block mechanic.
I doubt they're reprinting the Sword.
And about the Wishes....yeah...right. For one, only two of them were actually bad cards. And, one of them's restricted in type 1. Doubt they'll reprint any of them

Death Wish is now seeing moderate play in T1 these days. Granted Golden Wish is just pure jank (:3mana::symw::symw: for a mediocre version of an ability that only costs on Enlightened Tutor? NO THANKS), but I'm feeling that although the Sword does affect legendary creatures, and the fact that Saviours is the final set in a block based heavily on legendary permanents, I'm not quite sure it'll be one that affects legends. Quite the opposite really. Look at where Sword was placed. In a block with hardly any legends that could really benefit from it. This card they speak of will probably be one that has absolutely no relevance to the set whatsoever. But one with a meaning to the rest of the game. Or, it'll be a slight tie-in to what Rav will introduce to us in the next year.

That would be quite good in a suiblack deck of some sort. The discard intertwines great with flashback and/or Yawg's will (or reanimate effects) and the lifegain can be overcome.
I'd use that

see! that's what i'm telling you.. personally i can't make a card with such drawbacks without adding something special or at least somewhat good in it.. making it completely crappy is an idea i cannot accept.. i mean.. it's a waste of a slot.. ink.. and other things related.. that without considering a waste of time just thinking about it..
i mean.. i can think of a crappy card

But seriously, if you can't remember "Woapalanne", just call me Eli.
My guess is they'll make another "Mudhole" type card... A card with a simple ability that is simply... worthless. It'll be either a sorcery or enchantment, since creatures can always attack or block, instants are better than sorceries, lands always produce mana (now) and even the existance of an artifact helps affinity. So, a truly worthless card will need to be a sorcery or enchantment, IMO.
I'm thinking a sorcery that shuffles all players decks but no other effect. Maybe even an enchantment that does it for like 3UU or something. People will try to make it work with the Probe, yet it just sucks. Gee, what a great learning experience, huh Maro?. (God, I hate that mistaken concept...)
Unfortunately most sets usually have one or more really bad commons like chimney imp, but if this crap card is in the rare slot ill be a wee bit saddend. Even uncommon for that matter.

Poor Recall U
Instant
Target opponent must draw 3 cards.
Sure it could be played in a mill deck, but it's still pretty bad.
That would be pretty funny, i think. Sword of the Chosen would fit in well with this block, or at least a modified version of it.
Sword of the Kami 2
Legendary Artifact- Equipment (R)
Equiped creature gets +2/+2.
T: Attach ~ to target legendary creature you control.
Although, I don't think that would qualify as being a card that sucks. In fact, it is probably far from it.
