I assume you say that because there's no symbol on the booster box. Well, there was none on 8th boxes either (just a splashy "10th anniversary" logo). I am convinced we will get a symbol, probably just a stylish "9".
And I'm 99% sure now that the "throne and arm" pic is really new art for the Sorceress Queen .
Heck no. Making a creature a 0/2 is not a base set mechanic. I will guarentee with a 89.3% moneyback incentive that it is the new art for Lord of the Undead
For anyone still not sure, here's a cropped and zoomed image showing the artwork on the middle pack in the booster box, and a purposely blurred image of the artwork on the Invasion version of Elvish Champion.
Personally, I think the Specter looking card is Hollow Specter. I could see them trying to reprint it since they probably won't ever reprint Hypnotic Specter with their thing against random discard (which in my opinion is stupid, what's so bad about random discard? It's not like we're going to see Mind Twist ever again.
The thing in the chair could be Sorceress Queen, or my guess, Zombie Master. I don't think it's Lord of the Undead. If they used the Invasion art for Elvish Champion then I'm fairly sure they'd use the Planeshift art for Lord of the Undead . Brom's is a fan favorite art anyway, as far as I know.
Hmmm, this Core Set should be heavy in Invasion and Odyssey block cards, I imagine. I'm still irked that we're getting Blackmail instead of Addle. The intelligence behind that vote was asonishing... astonishingly low. People don't seem to think ahead, at all. Yawgmoth Demon will be neat to have new art for, but Mirrodin rolls out three months after 9th comes out. There won't be hardly any artifacts around, so color-based discard would have been perfect, especially if Ravnica ends up gold-heavy.
I'm not sure which is worse sometimes: Letting players decide whats in or just letting them do it and hope we like it.
Dark Elves would be so awesome. Don't call them Drow though...but then again a Drizzt (R.A. Salvatore's Drow anti-hero) card would rock.

I think that's where multicolor cards should come into play. Elves are obviously tied into nature so they should always be green, but then add on the idea of color determining class, so if you had an elf wizard, it would be UG, or if you had an Elf Warrior, it would be RG. They really need to utilize gold cards more. They can be such a tool to provide flavor and good card abilities based on their colors.
Ahem...what about Glorious Anthem...or Blinding Angel, guys? But most of all, if she has not had the wings, she reminds me of Éowyn :D:D
I think that this is not Serra. THIS angel looks like a flying tank instead of gracious, but deadly being.

I also think Angel of mercy won't be in 9th since R&D said they didn't like it in 8th, but they had to put it in because they had no other uncommon white flyer.
Maybe they will now replace it with Leonin Skyhunter?
But what card could this be?
A Pegasus? A Griffin? Another Angel?
I think this card is the card using the package art. If so, that will be Serra Angel. If they want to attract new players to Magic, they will give out iconic creatures, as in Eighth they did so on Elvish Champion, which also used as the package art of the Core Game Set.

In my second sentence I was referring to the little card showing on the left lower corner of the box. It's a kind of flying creature.

Did anyone else notice door to nothingness in the bottom left next to the pic of the disc
I don't think that's it. The art doesn't seem to match. Besides, the mechanic isn't core-material.
On top of that. I think it's a white card, not an artifact

I knew that you were referring to that card (the card on the left lower corner). Sorry for this confusion. I thought that card's pic looking like the pack pic then. But on second thought, I don't think that'll be.
The little card by the CDROM doesn't look like the "serra" artwork. It does appear to be white or artifact, though. It looks like the shape of the Rathi Dragon, if you compare them... but it's not red. I'd be led to believe it's an artifact, because it's not Serra, and why would they put two different white cards on the box? Are they trying to say this is a mono-white game? No.

Not that enough elves are going to be playable to make the Champion useful Maybe in Ravnica we'll get something though.

One elf, eh?
He obviously means the Drow, such as in D&D. I concur, it'd be cool if they'd do something different with elves for once.
