It may also be a sheath (of the sword the rider has raised) or stirrups, but why would they be so elongated?
You know, in Magic, a guy riding a bird/dinsoaur type thing is perfectly acceptable. But elongated stirrups? That's stretching TOO FAR (excuse the pun)......haha, I'm just messin with you, welcome to the forums.....
And I totally agree witht he tank thing, and it's funny cause I thought about crabs too, but crabs have legs and tend to live near water. And this doesn't mean I don't think there's water on Ravnica, so don't fight it.

Brian Tinsman, Set Designer :?mana::snow::snow:
Legendary Creature – Human Designer (MR)
Brian Tinsman, Set Designer can only be cast during the third set of a block.
When Brian Tinsman, Set Designer enters the battlefield, ignore all flavor and mechanics of the first two sets in the block. "Ok so what do we have here... gothic horror? Scrap it. Expand the Devine Vs. Demonic duel deck to 244 cards and print it!"

Saviors art: Just plain wierd. Probably a w/b card, a Demon Samurai Spirit, or a part of a flip card. (This being the spirit form, training to be a samurai, then going to a white human samurai)
9th: Reminds me of D&Ds Yuan-ti. (serpentine peeple with green skin, looking a lot like that art.) Jade Statue is probably right, like many others have already said, but I'd like to form some alternate hypothosis. It looks a little too demon-like to be the statue though. The sythe-thing might by what the card is about, and it could be an equipment. It could also be a vampire, but thats unlikely. Not realy sure, but I think more than jade items need to be put out there as possibilities. But whats else could be that color green. Oh, the white stuff coming from the dome. This at first reminds me of aurafiction, but then the green thing should be gold, hmmmm.
Ravinica: Also reminds me of D&D, this time Eberron campaign setting's Sharn: City of Towers. The whole area looks like it is built on towers, which is interesting. Cool art though, looking forward to Ravinica.
I can't see the 9th edition art as Jade Statue . I think that it could be Yawgmoth Demon, granted the Demon has flying but the old art doesn't show any wings either, or maybe even Lord of Atlantis. What ever reprinted card it is I don't care for the art and I hope I own the original card.

"Are you going to bark all day little doggie, or are you going to bite?"
Lord of Atlantis? That doesn't make any sense at all, seeing as the art doesn't resemble a merfolk in the slightest. I know that the lords aren't technically part of the race they're lords of, but they always are in the art. The art could definately be Jade Statue, but it could be other cards as well. Juzàm Djinn and Yawgmoth Demon are also possibilities. But Lord of Atlantis? Come on.
First one kinds reminds me of the Brain Bug from Starship Stoopers... without the Unspeakable for a face.
The Second one is Jade statue, just trust me on this one.
The third one I have no say on, but on the discussion of Good and Evil, And wether white can be, the answer most deffinately is YES. The best evidence is exhibited in the Dark and Fallen Empires. While the story lines of both sets weren't as well established as more modern sets, both have overtones of religious zellocy.
Especially in the Dark, white shows the worst it can with overwhelming acts of hatred, (burning martyrs, Preachers giving Fire and Brimstone Sermons, going on witch hunts, and Tividar of Thorn going on his damned crusade to kill the goblines that he hated because his father did as did his father before hime.)
In Fallen Empires, the fringe sect of Oliver Farrel broke from the rest of Icatia and declared war on them because they thought they were too soft on people of another religion, which seemed to just be another offshoot of the same beliefs... then again in Fallen empires all the colors were fighting with themselves.

Guys, i think that the two cards most likley represented in this picture is mostly Jade Idol, or maybe Serpent Warrior. I can't see this at all being yawgmoth demon.

Has anyone noticed that in the last picture, whatever is riding on the pterodactyl thing doesn't really have feet or hands. It just has these pointy-looking appendages that at second glance, look sort of ... tentacle-like.

Major Glory noticed the same thing I did. The guy riding the pteron look-alike seems to have pointed feet (or a tail). Major Glory interpreted it to be a tail, but it looks more like it's attached to the man's foot to me. It's really hard to tell though since his leg seems to be at the wrong angle. It may also be a sheath (of the sword the rider has raised) or stirrups, but why would they be so elongated? Since it matches the bridle almost exactly, it definitely isn't part of the rider, but could definitely be a piece of armor of some sort.
Look closely at that pointy thing, Card Coliseum. There's obviously a bent leg covering a part of that organ.
If you dont see it, d/l the pictre and resize it to 200% of its original size. This way you can see that we can see the rider's thigh, that it's knee is covered by some kind of brown cloth and that it wears some kind of white thing on its ankle. And for some reason - you can see that the *thing*, which I think is a tail, is tied to something which looks like a pink foot with a brown ribbon.
It doesn't really feet the bridle, and you can even see its continuation behind the leg, probably to the rear part of the rider
I think people are confusing the issue by thinking that creatures are a certain colour, and that dictates their intentions and actions. No... creatures have intentions and actions, and that makes them a certain colour.
For example, someone fights for honour, protection of their local town, and they believe in justice and equality. They are represented in Magic as a white creature (probably soldier or knight).
Some people seem to think that a creature (or person in Magic) is born into a certain colour, or they wear a certain colour of clothing, and that determines their actions and motives. That's like saying a person is born green, which makes them start collecting mana from trees, plants, and nature, or become really big and lumbering and start crashing through the forest protecting the woods from blue or black coloured invaders.
White is white because it's good, and black is black because it's evil. White can't be evil, otherwise it wouldn't be white. Ertai wasn't black until he became twisted and warped, for example.
RE is correct but saying it wrong. White creatures are white because of what they believe in and how they act. It is not based on the color of their clothing. Same goes for black creatures.
White creatures, however, are not white because they are good. They are white because they believe in higher moral authority, believe in society over individuals, and believe in cooperation. None of these things are necessarily good; taken to an extreme, they lead to fascism. Similarly, black believes in no specific moral authority, believes in the individual over society, and believes in competition over cooperation. None of these things are particularly evil; capitalism is a good example of this.
Actually it would be more correct to say that R_E is half right. No the color of clothes that a person wears doesn't decide the color. But good and evil can't really be tied to certain colors.
As people have said, the actions are what truly dictate that decides the color. White is white because it wants the whole world to do the best it can, and believes that the only way to do that is through religion and laws, most people tend to see this as "good". Black is black because it believes in the power of the strongest. It will do whatever it wants however it can, most people tend to see this a "evil". But these are not necessarily good and evil, taken to extremes or not, they can be either.
As far as the last picture being a griffin, I don't think so. Griffins are one of my favorite mythological creatures. They are half lion, half eagle creatures. They generally have the head, wings and talons of an eagle, and the rear end of a lion. The mounts in the picture have some facets of griffins, if you stretch. I would be severely disappointed if they turned griffins into that.
In MTG storylines, evil is traditionally portrayed by whatever color is trying to eliminate all of the others.
Yawgmoth and Phyrexia wanted to make black mana dominant over all the others. Aboshan/Laquatus wanted to do the same with blue mana.

This is why I wish they would make a "new" set like The Dark. The flavor concept behind The Dark was "What is the BAD side of each color?" Blue had Amnesia , Drowned , Ghost Ship , & Merfolk Assassin . Green had Carnivorous Plant , Scarwood Bandits , Lurker and Whippoorwill (check it's flavor text). Red was sorely lacking, perhaps with cards like Brothers of Fire , Eternal Flame and Mana Clash (cards that hurt you as well as your target). Of course, black was black.
While not all the abilities are still in white in regard to the pie chart Rosewater loves so much, the flavor of the cards are both white AND "bad".
Yes, I believe we can certainly have a set where white is the "bad guys" (ruling the city with an unemotional iron fist with laws that kill those who are not deemed "white enough") and black and red are the "good guys" (individuals who want their own freedom and beliefs or who care more about emotion than rules and laws, trying to bring down the tyrannical government). Who is evil in this case? That would depend on what side of the fence you are on, wouldn't it?

I don't know what to say except you aren't quite right.
White is not "good" any more than black is "evil". You almost had the right idea when you mentioned motivation determining a color but then you got lost in the old good vs evil paradigm.
White could very easily be "bad guys" in Ravnica. White stands for absolutes - rules, regulations and structure. How could that be bad? When the rules and structure become prohibitive in nature and tyrannical in practice. Red is the anarchist state, white is the fascist state. Which one is "good"?

The more I look at the Ravinca art the more I like it. Its very cool.
The second is both demonic and serpentine at the same time. I got no clue. Probably Jade Statue like half the other people in this thread said.

What a story it will be.
