woo.. tis is a veri nice pic !! seems more like a non creature.. can c a kami beside the girl.. mayb tis spell "change" non spirit into spirt?? hmm.. IMHO, either black or blue
Onslaught gives, just to name a couple of things, fetchlands, shaking up every single format, Goblins (an entire deck created by this block) which is one of the top contenders in Extended and will lose nothing with the rotation. Oh and every Storm-based deck in every format. Invasion block wasn't the strongest, but I'm quite sure Pernicious Deed is more vital to the Rock than Extraction, Scepter-Chant wouldn't exist without Mage, Chant and Fire/Ice. Odyssey had two decks that became viable in pretty much any format, Psychatog and Madness. Kamigawa? Nah.
Actually, you can't really say that. There has been no major Kamigawa Block tournaments so far, and there's still a set to come out.
And just one thing; Invasion block, WEAK? I won't even bother listing here how many cards from that block are widely used in extended to this day.
and the art continiues to stun me. Really, the art on magic cards have imroved so much latley Im really amazed.. and this seems to show tha the trend is beeing uphold... Good job wizards

So, what decks outside of T2 are helped by Kamigawa cards? Orchard in Oath, Extraction in Rock...
Blazing Shoal, Through the Breach, and Desperate Ritual in Sneak Attack.
Meloku as a Wish target in Aluren
Meloku in Temporary Solution (GP Singapore)
Umezawa's Jitte in Macey Rock(Alongside SoFI at GP Singapore)
Shuko in Life.dec
Kami of Ancient Law replacing Seal of Cleansing in White decks
Hideous Laughter as a Wish target in Psychatog decks (GP Eindhoven and GP Seattle)
The whole Kiki-Opposition deck based around Kiki-Jiki.
The Orchard-Alarm Extended Decks from the PTQ's for PT Philly
I hope that adds a few pieces to think about.

Team NE Magic, retaking the Midwest one tournament at a time.
Rebels not as powerful as Affinity? Tahn man, you German folk need to stop sniffing the laderhosen and come back to reality. Rebels was THE deck to beat; either you were playing Rebels (or a variant) or you were playing straight Rebel-hate. Counter-Rebels was a formidable Extended deck prior to 'tog's dominance, so saying that Rebels is not as potent as Affinity is like saying Xenphire is not gay.

Off Topic:Rebels did see extended play.I agree with realmlord and flamebuster on all of the points they have made. The whole block is not even out and no block turneys have been held and people are saying "omfg this bloc is teh suxorz" without even thinking about how stupid that is.
ON TOPIC:That is prety cool art. Is is rather similiar to timestop in the color composition. Probably U or B.

My guess is the girl is Michiko and the kami is That Which Was Taken. I think its a powerful (as in 15 nuklear reactors exploding at the same spot at the same second powerful) occurence. Bets, anyone?
I think that the reason why CoK block sucks so much compared to many other blocks is that its the most straight forward block in a while...no mechanics require much thought and none of the cards are particularly tricky or inventive...therefor there is little room for innovation (outside of gifts) and the skill required for this block and its cards is minimal...honestly, if you look at the cards and their mechanics, this is really like portal or a core set, since most of the cards and what they do are beginner material...wizards seems to just be dumbing things down for all the tards who can't seem to figure out how to build good decks, by saying, here is jitte, put some creatures around it, and have some fun (u can replace jitte with any other number of straight forward cards like kokusho)...let us hope that SaK isnt a sack of sh*t and mebbe has some cards that are not portal worthy...

Why does everyone thing this is Michiko? I don't think it looks like her. The clothes don't really seem like a white creatures clothes. They look more blue to me.
I really don't think there will be any explanation for the "Umezawa coincidence"... I don't think the two are related at all.
I agree with WytLghtning in that it's a straightforward block so far. It's not 'dumbed-down' though. Simple != 'made for all the tards'. I mean, I'm not the best deckbuilder ever, or even in the 'good' department, but there's some more complex things than 'Rare+ <foo> = DECK WHOAMG' that I see.
that, and Kamigawa's just fun for me. I loathed Mirrodin because it was so grey. the artifact thing wasn't fun for me.
I feel like I'm the only one that likes Kamigawa.
Also: at the 'saying rebels weren't powerful is like saying Xen's not gay' thing. *hides from Xen!wrath.*
on topic: dude, Lamprey fishspirit. and it's Blue. Maybe I can finally get around to making myself that Moonfolk deck I want. All I need now is one good Blue beatstick Moonfolk Legend (chance = nil, but I can hope!), and I'll be all over that.

Completely seconded Lakidaa, That makes 2 fans of Kamigawa block :grin2:!!!
I've jut contacted our local gaming store to see if they have any promotional info out on Saviors, and the only thing the've got are the pre-release flyers, which they aren't giving out till monday next week... Bummer, I was hoping for a poster or something... informative...:halo:
I had a pretty good laugh at that rebels/me being gay comment I wasn't around for Rebels, I started in at Apocalypse so I wouldn't know But considering the power level of Masques block, I definitely believe they're a powerful force
One: Why does everybody keep saying that there haven't been any block tournaments yet? It's sorta ridiculous to completely ignore the existance of modo tournaments when any one of them is as competitive as a GPT at worst and often as high as a PTQ. All things considered, it's those levels of events that shape what we regular players do with a given format while PTs and to a great extent GPs merely give guidelines. There's a Kamigawa block tournament everyday online, and two on Sundays... I think 8 a week should be considerably noticable by now, don't you?
Two: Every block deck that makes the leap to extended without heavy modifications is some sort of agro deck. Madness, Goblins, and Affinity are all agro decks. So Kamigawa hasn't put out an agro deck that is going to make the leap to Extended... but is that a problem? It's still put out a handful of cards usable even in Vintage and provides some good control and combo options instead of pushing the limits on the agro side. It makes the block tournaments a bit boring, but there will always be cards from this block finding their way into extended tournaments, especially with thousands of cards rotating out at the end of this year.
