Chichi: The thing is there haven't been any MAJOR tournaments. Popular block decks of the past, like Explosive Vegetation and Tooth and Nail, weren't unveiled until the first block Pro Tour. I definitely expect some innovation at Philly.
if it makes you feel better, the Grand Prix comming through is block. a local shop in town does weekly block sanctioned events.
i too enjoy Kamigawa, but i do think Betrayers didn't do as much as it could to really add to the base set. i guess i'm hoping Ravinca has something more than the standard humans vs creatures/good vs evil/black vs white theme to it that every other block seems to have. that's what i like best about Kamigawa... it's spirits vs mortals spreading over all colors instead of the color pie's enemy battles.
And secondly, Jitte is not the second best equipment, Sword of Fire and Ice easily beats it.
I thought that I would mention that i disagree on this one.
The jitte costs less, and gets to use its abilitys as instants. Not only that, but it is more versitle (gaining you life when you need it, pumping to stop red removal, killing things), and gets counters whether it is blocked or not.
SoFaI is also very good of course.
I think the part that I don't like the most is that you say it "easily" beats it. While SoFaI may be better, it would be very very close.
im almost positive that the art is by Scott M. Fischer, i have seen this art somewhere else associated with him, some art on his site that isnt there anymore! Its a hunch, makes sense cause people are saying its Time Stop esqe!
Yes, it's a fabulous piece of art. While I'm not that up on the story, it seems like a way that the humans could redress the balance with the Spirits would be to reciprocate the gift, which is a very Japanese practice.
The most appropriate gift would be Michiko, since she is the daughter of Konda. As I understand it, That Which Was Taken is the 'child' of Okagachi, the ruler of the Spirit World. Michiko, as the child of the ruler of the Mortal World, is the most suitable target, especially since Konda is the one that caused the whole mess in the first place.
That said, I believe the art is of Michiko, even if it is not the art of her card. If I am correct in my belief, then I think Michiko will be a White legend (I believe she'll sacrifice herself) which can remove herself from the game (for a substantial cost) to remove all spirits from the game.
