What does this mean? Since the information given by Azerbaijan shows "Sweep" being a keyword that has text stating the plural form of the name of the basic land twice. That means there can't be 4 cards with the keyword "Sweep" if there are only 7 plural names of basic lands- there would have to be 8. This shows a HUGE inconsistency on Azerbaijan's part.
Dude, after I called your name elegant and everything
More important, your theory is broke. "Plains" is both the singular and common version:
Sweep - Return any number of plains you control to their owner's hand. Target creature gets +1/+1 until end of turn for each plains returned this way.
If it was another land, there would only be one instance of the plural:
Sweep - Return any number of forests you control to their owner's hand. Target creature gets +1/+1 until end of turn for each forest returned this way.
I don't deny that the info we're getting has orb issues. The Arashi card has Arashi 4 times, the orb 3. But the scan looks real. Shrug, it's not like we haven't had issues with the orb before. So maybe it should be swamps = 2? Who knows. We don't really have a lot to work with. Also, I note that lands=2. Maybe there's a sweep that works with any land? (Yes, I'm speculating wildly)
That could be plausible, but it would still an inconsistency in that Sweep itself doesn't designate anything but lands, of a certain type or not, being returned to one's hand, giving it a very fluid definition as a keyword.
What I was thinking it that there could be more than 4 cards with "Sweep", with some of them actually having "Sweep" in their name, explaining the word "Sweep" showing up in the orb. Sink into Takenuma could be a card without "Sweep" in its name, but still uses the "Sweep" mechanic. Without the ability being confined to a keyword there could be more flexibility in what it could do on each individual card.
EDIT: Oops! Sorry Azerbaijan, I was too dumb and hasty to see my mistake with the plains thing. I was being too nitpicky... I'm sorry man, I didn't mean this as a personal attack or anything it just appeared wrong as it was to me. Again, I am sorry.
Yeah I see what you mean about it being a surprise (instant). I still don't think that means paying twice as much mana plus setting your land drops back three turns is worth a Giant Growth (which is marginally playable as it is).

No sweat; it's good to keep your eyes open and everything. I don't want to post bad info either.
I agree with all of you, also, who are saying that "Sweep" is looking uninteresting as a keyword. There're just too few occurences.
Epic is way too small in the Orb to be considered a keyword. Also, Vigilance + Bushido + Soulshift? Although vigilance is just keywording a very used ability, Champions technically violated the tradition.

Sweep seems like a poor mechanic to me. It would have been much better to make it so that the Sweep enhances a card, such as 2BB Target player discards 2 cards Sweep - Swamp. But as worded, Sweep is too much of a tempo los to be any good imho.

I agree. As a potential combat trick or surprise salvation (hee) for a creature, it is way too ineeficient as it costs you too much tempo loss for a marginal ability. It works fine as a finisher, but by the time you have enough lands in play to really make PtR worth it, you could just as easily play a better spell with a much better effect. It may be okay for Limited, but it's still not a good card.
If the sweep merely added to an already existing effect on the card, sweep would be much better. If on PtR, the creature already got say +2/+2 and the sweep added to it, that would be much more useful as it would be a lot more versatile. It could function as a combat trick with the option of stunting your tempo for a greater boost, while still being a reasonable finisher. As is, it's only situationally good, and even in those instances, I could think of better cards.

Actually, the big expansions are supposed to have three keywords. Vigilance was just an update while Splice unto Arcane is actually the 3rd keyworded ability for Champions. Also, with the new preview card, Enduring Ideals, it is evident that Epic is without a doubt a keyword. Having Sweep as a keyworded really would be a break in tradition because it is new and unique and not just a name given to an old mechanic. Too bad they didn't wait and break tradition for a mechanic that's actually worthwhile...Sweep might even be the worst keyworded mechanic I've ever seen. Even Threshold and Sunburst were better than this crap.
And then how about:
Cut down Jukai ?
Instant - Arcane
Sweep - Return any number of Forests you control to their owner's hand. Some effect for each Forest returned this way.
What about the others in the cycle?
Neither 'Forest' nor 'Forests' appears in the Orb.
