Why did it have to be in Portuguese why? :swear::crying:
Because they came from Portugal. :biggrin3:
As for these nice new cards (quoted via the truly awesome RE):
Rending Vines - 1GG
Instant - Arcane (C)
Destroy target artifact or enchantment with converted mana cost equal to or less than the number of cards in your hand.
Draw a card.
Dan Frazier
143/165
Not too shabby. Pops the Shrines, the Jitte, a lot of the zany stuff from the last block, and replaces itself to boot. Arcane is just the icing on the cake. Splicing can help keep your hand size large enough to nuke the better targets. Good little common.
[CARD]Shinen of Life's Roar - 1G
Creature - Spirit (C)
All creatures able to block ~this~ do so.
Channel - 2GG, Discard ~this~: All creatures able to block target creature this turn do so.
1/2
Matt Cavotta
139/165[/CARD]
First off: Wooooooooo, Cavotta! I love him, second only to the Guay in my estimation. This is a nice little Taunting Elf for Spirit decks (which I doubt they need). Not bad for Limited, clearing the way for your swarm or Channeling to still clear the way, but also crunch some opposition if need be. Not great, but has some uses.
Kami of the Tended Garden - 3G
Creature - Spirit (U)
At the beginning of your upkeep, sacrifice Kami of the Tended Garden unless you pay G.
Soulshift 3
4/4
Thomas M. Baxa
134/165
Can Soulshift, and can do so basically when you want to. And he's a 4/4 for 4. Not that bad, but there's better. Not sure whether it's worth tying a land up every turn to keep him around. I doubt it is. No trample and no useful ability outside of Soulshifting .... meh.
Inner Calm, Outer Strength - 2G
Instant - Arcane (C)
Target creature gets +X/+X until end of turn, where X is the number of cards in your hand. The fantastic objects around the kami rotated faster each time, creating a cyclone of movement. When it opened its eyes, it attacked.
Stephen Tapping
133/165
Interesting, though it is the standard green instant for each set with a major theme (witness that converted mana cost growth card from Scourge or the rhystic growth card from Prophecy, etc). It's more expensive than Growth, but it has the added bonus of possibly pumping far beyond +3/+3, and it is Arcane, which leads to yummy splicing. Solid common.
Reasonable as a creature, reasonable as an uncounterable spell. The utility that the one card can do either at your command is really good. I like the Ghost-lit-ers so far.
Ghost-lit Nourisher - 2G
Creature - Spirit (U)
2G, T: Target creature gets +2/+2 until end of turn.
Channel - 3G, Discard Ghost-lit Nourisher: Target creature gets +4/+4 until end of turn.
2/1
Tsuromu Kawade
137/165
Which continues here. (Note that the Ghost-lit guys so far are 2/1's for 2C with a tap ability and a bigger version of said tap ability as its Channel effect. Neat.) Reusable pump isn't as useful as reusable burn damage, but it'll do. Sometimes the mere threat of it on the board messes with an opponent's math. An uncounterable +4/+4 as a surprise is cool, too.
Arashi, the Sky Asunder? - 3GG
Legendary Creature - Spirit (R)
XG, T: Arashi, the Sky Asunder deals X damage to target creature with flying.
Channel XGG, Discard Arashi: Arashi deals X damage to each creature with flying.
5/5
Kev Walker 12_/165
Mmmm, an uber-Ghost-lit, and a pretty strong one. Remember that while in play, Arashi can zap most Soratami for 1G. That's crazy. The mass-Hurrican Channel ability is nice, but Arashi seems to be even better in play to me. Nuke opposing flyers while leaving yours untouched, swoop in for the win. Awesome name, too, I must say.
Promised Kannushi - G
Creature - Human Druid (C)
Soulshift 7
1/1
Matt Thompson
147/165
I'm willing to bet this will be a Monk, but otherwise it's not such a bad little guy. A common that can save pretty much any dead Spirit. He's a late pick who could get you multiple uses out of a first pick which has been destroyed. Not powerful by any stretch, but useful enough to not be complete chaff in Limited. ETA: So he is a Druid. Odd. I thought we weren't getting many mainstays in this block, but I suppose we did have a few Soldiers and Clerics...
That picture on the Kannushi doesn't have the bald, robed look of all the Kamigawa monks so far. It's possible that the plot shifts in Saviours would allow for new areas of magic and power to be explored, including druids.
Also, 'druid' gets one hit on the Orb.

I was going to say that too Savia, indeed we do have the one druid
The channel mechanic is a real treat, especially Arashi, the Green hurricane legend dude:biggrin3: . Now, you'd have no reason not to play four of this card in your deck, as instead of the multiple copies of this legend just sitting in your hand doing nothing, you can pitch Arashi to play an uncounterable hurricane, snuffing out those pecky moonfolk, then swing for five with the Arashi you already have in play.
That versatility alone makes the cards great. Indeed, the Shinen and Ghost-lit creatures are going to be a sweet bunch of cards for Kami-block constructed, and limited come the Prerelease.
Now... I wonder what today will bring in the way of new cards?
It's back people, spoiler season is back!

I agree about Channel, it's a neat little ability, even if it does at first glance look like a retread of Cycling. But just as Entwine was more of a rethinking of Kicker, Channel isn't as much a clone of Cycling as you'd think at first. The big difference is that you don't draw a card, which is a pretty major difference. On top of that, Channel seems to upgrade the innate ability of a spell, whereas Cycling made a downgrade. Compare Complicate to say the green Ghost-lit. Cycling worked as a downward slope, shrinking the effect to add a cantrip to it, while Channel beefs up the spell without the cantrip. I really like it.
Versatilty = teh good.
Now... I wonder what today will bring in the way of new cards?
God only knows, it seems we get a dozen cards a day now (which is far from a bad thing, it's just really hard to keep up to date on).
Finally, the real deals are coming in! Thanks a lot for the info. Nothing really seemed to unplayable, looks like it'll be a good set, and the artwork is still amazing.
What we're doing here is akin to taking the text of Moby Dick, locating specific words therein, rearranging them to create a passage from Fight Club, and concluding from this evidence that Tyler Durden is based on Ahab.
MikeyG wrote:

Umm..as far as I can tell, we only have about a dozen cards (well, maybe 15), so it's hardly a dozen a day. That's a little optimistic, but we can only hope.
Quick comments: I really like the Ghost-Lit creatures; since I only play Limited, I think they'll be very effective. I'd like them without the Channel ability - that just makes them even better.
I always focus on the rares (for better or worse) in judging the appeal of a set - especially in terms of buying and collecting - which I also do way too much of. The "howling mine with legs" is okay -not spectacular. Soramaro is fun.
I do like Arashi - great art and, as mentioned, multiples are just fine for those playing Constructed.
This is a very fun time of the season - bring on more!!

Uh, we had Oppressive Will and some vague mechanics info before I left for work yesterday. Last night I came home to six new cards from the pre-con opening and this morning I woke up to 8 Portugese cards. So for me, that's 14 new cards in about 12 hours, thus my statement of it feeling like getting a dozen a day. Was it an exaggeration? Well, yeah, but I meant it as one to signify how it seems like we're getting a lot of cards all at once. Which we are - and yay to that.

One little typo to note. Not only does it translate as such, but it also proves with other similar cards (like dispersal shield):
The wording on this better translates to "

Not to be picky, just saying
I took a look at a similar card, Overload, and you may be right. Bu then again, here's Thoughtbind. Conclusion: Hard to say.
I don't know about channel. I read it, thought it sounded stupid, saw people saying they had to rethinking and now they like it. I rethought it, and I like it less. It's a split card creature/uncounterable-instant, which is more or less the exact same as the cycling from Legions/Scourge (L/S). The fact that all the instant-sides on L/S were cantrips doesn't change much, cantrip are just special spells, too.
i don't usually play G or R but i might buy that wet nurse card just because of the name sex appeal was neat as a card name but that was unglued however wet nurse in a regualr expansion is something i might collect

It is probably "nourisher", as "wet-nurse" doesn't appear in the orb. Not quite the same saucy attitude there, IMO.
Is it just me, or is the 1/1 a creature able to reviv itself over and over, making it like Squee?
Uh...............you? Since the guy is not a spirit, theres no way for him to revive himself :xd:

Hang on, I need my gibber-to-english dictionary. Ah yes, here it is,
What I don't understand is why 'Channel' is on the card - the ability would work just fine as a normal, non-keyworded ability, exactly as written. It looks like another keyworded-for-the-sake-of-having-a-new-keyword (like Offering). :slant:

A) Save card space.
B) So other cards can effect channel.
C) So channel can trigger "channel only" effects.
Go read Maro's article on Keywords over at Magicthegathering.com.
With 'Channel' only appearing twelve times in the set, I'd guess that two cards have abilities that trigger off of a Channel ability being played - hardly worth the trouble (again, like Offering).

Your example was offering. I'm saying when they make keywords thay do it sometimes to save space. You also aren't thinking of the future. They create keywords for future sets.
People whine to whine I guess.
Edit: I guess we now know why you're not on the magic developement team. Channel sure sounds like it can only go on a japanese set. And I guess elf offering is out of question? Heh, begone.

Channel and Offering are hardly too narrow in name, or flavour, to use outside this block. Both mechanics are easily able to be used again, in another block, unlike Soulshift, Bushido and Ninjutsu.
For Splice, I can definitely see it being used again.. even Arcane Splice, since Arcane is a wide enough keyword to apply to -other- types of specialised magic (which would open up design space).

True, but while there's always talk of keyword reuse, wotc seems much more intent on spouting out new keyword after new keyword. And while Splice is deep enough to be expanded on, Channel and Offering are both pretty 'shallow.'
Does anyone put the word "light" in the Orb? im saying it `cause the cards in the thread are suposed to be a cycle isn`t? but if you search only appears 3 results that`s interesting.
Zendikar = Mirrodin/Urza reborn, just with more money rares and mythic bull ****. I hope to god we get another Masques block after this, jumping man on a ****ing pogo stick.
