One never knows how it would fair. We have yet to see what the initial function of Ravnica will be so perhaps it may be a green-heavy set (by green-heavy I mean power-wise, not quantity). ArBee did state that Green would be getting a giant boost in the "near future" so maybe this is an indication that oldschool Stompy-esque creatures will make their way back into the fray.
Or maybe not.

Edit: I still don't really see why we're discussing FoN when it's being speculated that it's Verdant Force that's being reprinted...me so confused. :confused3: And w00t for another SCG poster (Ester).
Silvos was better than force, and yet it saw no serious play (except when the block format was being defined, and Veggies decks were still acceptable).
In Core set, they thought in made sense to put in very lame rares such as Vizzerdrix . I know that they were adding this to show the so called power of rares, but the rares in core set are the equivalent of uncommons in any expert set. I say that they should stop dumbing magic down for new folks and just let them try out real rares like the ones you get in expert level packs . . . . Unless WotC is targeting 4-8 year olds?
Intentionally lame rares are a recent thing. And it hasn't worked well. Sales are down on Base Sets. When I started playing, everyone bought revised/4th. Now no one does. They need a wider, better range of cards in the set.
Bet MUC seriously doesnt want to Vedalken Shackles it though.
If MUC has high showings in Regionals, will WotC still have time to put in blue hosers in 9th before they go to print: Choke, Boil, Omen of Fire, River Boa, Scald, Tsunami Or have they run out of time to adjust the card pool in 9th before they release?
I'm just hoping that WotC has some flexability around the 9th edition card pool. In any event, I think River Boa would provide snake players with better cards against blue mages. Long Live the Snakes!

Woah, woah woah. MUC is good, but it ain't "print 6 hate cards" good. Besides, Boil is already available for use...as if Boseiju...as is Troll Ascetic ...
Troll Ascetic is gone come Ravnica. I don't think Wizards is going to reprint blue hate in every other color, though. Besides, Omen of Fire is from Alliances. I seriously doubt they're going to put a (good) Alliances card in 9th.

Considering that 9th is shipped barely a month after U.S. Regionals, there's no way it'll have an impact. Besides, MUC isn't the dominating deck you think it is. Tier 1, yes, but there are ALOT of ways to beat it.
Well, you could (almost) as easily replace Troll with Isao, Enlightened Bushi (granted, he's not as good...but you get my point.) I'm trying to say that even though MUC is one hell of a matchup, it ain't unbeatable. We have tools to deal with it already in front of us, even post-rotation (which, incidentally takes Vedalken Shackles out of the game as well.)

Well, I've lurked here ever since Rancored_Elf came, and MTGnews before that. I decided to post here for awhile, as SCG has been kinda slow the last few days. And, what happened to your SCG account?

I changed my e-mail address over a week and a half ago and that somehow rendered my account inactive...long story. I've talked to the Ferrett about it and he said he'll look at it...sounds like a ***** to fix, though. Oh well.
I've been on MTGSalvatoin since the day Darren left MTGNews. I'd been on MTGNews for two years (lurking, then posting regularly) before that.
And no, I actually don't think that Force would see printing in Ravnica or 9th edition. Silvos was strictly better than Force of Nature.
Silvos was also printed in the same block/era as GOBLINS PEOPLE...
If this is printed and presented during a time in which MYOJINS (read: 10 mana 3/3s) are STRICTLY PLAYABLE, then yes, I most certainly feel that it will not only see play, but it will be in play on turn 4.
Lest we forget what the best color is in standard/block magic right now.
With the rumors of Trample possibly returning to Ninth edition, we may see Force of Nature return to Ninth.
By the way if Trample is reintroduced to Ninth Edition, does anyone think that Lord of the Pit might also be reprinted? It would compliment Kamigawa Block nicely.
@MUC fear: MonoUControl will still be good in standard after rotation, but without shackles (which is THE defined MUC card right now), it will loose much of it's ompf. It will still be good, but not that much better than any other type of deck.
And to stay on topic: The reason they print "crap" in the rare-slot of the core set is
a) they can't print too difficult cards, or cards with block mechanics
and
b) they cant print cards that mess up draft.
But would I like to see force of nature back: sure - it's a great casual card, and it's powerful and simple. But it does have trample - don't know if WotC still stands by the "no trample in core set" statement they made some time ago? Oh and according to the gatherer (which is your friend), it does have trample.
I don't think Verdant Force would be any good in anything other than reanimator, but that's just me.

er, One more in that upkeep.
Seriously?
I thought it was bad.
I mena, sure the upkeep cost can be intimidating, but if that were reprinted in RAvnica, I'm fairly sure that would see play.

After reading it I'm sure to the point that I'd crap on the floor and throw it at passers-by if it didn't see play.
BUT WHY IN RAVINCA? WHY NOT IN 9TH?
I have no extendo-sig. Sorry, I'm just not vain enough to think someone will click on it.

That'd be sick if there was an oldschool combo like that in a coreset. Imagine the havoc that would play on Standard or Extended.
