Wow, 2 Incinerates in Red pre-con. Not bad. Bastards put Bottle Gnomes in black? How on earth does that make sense? Give red Rod of Ruin give blue Bottle Gnomes and give black Phyrexian Vault! Its totally mixed up here!

the precons look cool.. might have to get a red one... possibly a green one.. hurricane is one of my favorite cards.. but i don't think i'll get the other ones.. (i play online)>. it just sucks paying that price.. but i ironically need just 2 incinerates for my playset.. heh i should get ice age ones though.. the picture is cooler (and has better flavor text)

I just want people who redraft to admit this:
"I can't draft objectively unless I am able to guarantee that I receive at least 3 rares. I am also better than most average/new players so I want to make sure that I get the best rares and they end up with worse ones. I care more about the monetary value of cards than actually playing the game for decent prizes."

(M:tG) It's a hobby which costs money. You can't play golf without the right clubs and a membership for the golf court, you can't play paintball with a cardboard armor and a sling, you can't go to the movies without paying for a ticket and you can't play Magic without owning the cards. Simple as that.
Remember, Incinerate is going to be common...as it always was.
True, but I am still confused on why those particular artifacts I mentioned are where they are. It seems a misplacement of some sort. /shrug Could anyone share a theory?

Good: Both rares, especially for the synergy. Condemn.
Bad: Only one Condemn. Large amounts of overpriced junk; the core weenie cards (Youthful Knight, Benalish Knight, Wild Griffin) are ones- or twos-of, and why did they have to drop Master Decoy? Icy Manipulator is always nice to grab, but it has no clear reason for being in this deck, which has neither the tools to do control or the right creatures for weenie.
Pass. The decent cards here are all common. Mono-blue is always going to struggle in core set theme decks, because it's reliant on relatively sophisticated control strategies that basically aren't achievable with the rarity restrictions of a theme deck. Tenth is poor on counters as it is; there's little excuse for not having at least one more of each.
Mortivore in a theme deck? That looks like fun. Shame this deck's so short on creature-kill; Thrull Surgeon and Bottle Gnomes are nice ideas here for the Mortivore synergy, but a bunch of overly expensive vanillas and inefficient crap is unappealing. It's telling when the best non-rare creature in a deck is a toss-up between Thrull Surgeon, Bottle Gnomes and Drudge Skeletons. (EDIT: To answer the question, Bottle Gnomes is here because it plays with Mortivore - most of these decks have enough synergy to show off the concept, not enough to be useful. The other artifacts all seem to have been thrown in pretty much at random.)
Yes, they know what they're about - no giving anyone Mogg Fanatic; we want you to buy packs for that. There are some odd choices among the creatures - Furnace Whelp and Bloodrock Cyclops - but combined with the best rare in a theme deck so far (Beacon of Destruction), the thematic consistency of this deck's hasties and burn looks promising, but what's with restricting the numbers so much? The only cards that are identifiably out of place are Phyrexian Vault and Dragon's Claw, but the lucky charms seem to be a theme of these theme decks (and that alone may cost them sales...).
Okey-dokey. bound to be my favourite. What have we here? There's a weaker emphasis on land-grab than I'd have hoped - Skyshroud Ranger would have been an obvious complement to Civic Wayfinder. Good news is that both Overrun and Stampeding Wildebeests are represented. Bad news is ... that's it. Yes, I like Molimo, but no one's expecting any of the legends in Tenth (save perhaps Cho-Manno) to see competitive play, which is why I haven't mentioned them. Hurricane as a rare still sits badly with me; I'm glad to have the card back, I just don't want to draw it in a pack (or theme deck), and it's not obviously the best fit for this theme (come on, I know I'm not the only one who expected Might of Oaks or Avatar of Might). With the big vanillas, Primal Rage ought to have been here. The deck's coherent enough that it's easy to see where it can be improved without taking it apart completely, but even for a casual green theme deck it's a bit feeble.
in terms of card quality...definitely the Green and Red decks by far. In terms of power and consistency, still the above two, with White coming in a close 3rd. Blue and Black has the best legends in Ascendant Evincar and Arcanis though imo...card advantage much?
Red is probably worth getting 2, since mashing them together, and adding some creatures like Giant Solifuge and Sulfur Elemental will turn it into a decent mid-range burn deck, or Big-Red, or Sligh...Me personally thinks Bloodrock Cyclops is going to be a killer card in this deck.
Red does look to be the best. So does Green. Each have great rares, anyways.
Does anyone play the Free Trial on MTGO?
The 9th White theme deck is the powerhouse of the Free Trial on MTGO. Now that Glorious Anthem and Master Decoy and Chastise and Righteousness are all gone, white has definitely been nerfed. Loxodon Mystic is no Master Decoy at +3cmc.
In 9th, it's irritating to play against the same precon deck, because whoever plays the "charm" artifiact quickly ends up with 30 life.
Now, with legends, it'll be even more annoying to play against the same precon deck. The legends will quickly be in constant danger of poofing and will become expensive, narrow spot removals for the slow players.
i am pretty impressed by the red one...i think i'll get myself 2 of these and meld them...2 incinirates, a beacon and dragons...pretty cool (still got a warm place for dragons...)
green one is quite nice, but a bit disappointing in the style factor...hoped for big trampleing dudes...but we got only big dudes with no trample...
white can turn really annoying real fast...its actually unbeatable to most deck once it gets cho-manno and pariah...gonna be a problem to get passed that...and green gotta get a draw-win or to lose...he cant win once its online...watch out in precon wars...
blue one is a disappointment...but i think its still quite amusing to play...but i wont deal with the competition...
black one if the big fall...nothing really good but the rares, and they cant hold the deck alone...
I like the new core set theme decks. Most provide significantly better or at least different rares than the last time around. I remember glorious anthem was in the white theme deck 3 core sets in a roll (probably even longer). That was very boring...
Anyways, I think I like the red, black, and blue theme deck. Those have the most appealing rares. Denizen, arcanis, beacon, kamahl, mortivore, and crovax. None of them are exceptional but they're some of the best rares we'll get out of core set packs. Plus they aren't horrible evn for a normal theme deck rare. I think I like mortivore and the beacon best. The green one is the most horrible in my opinion. And yes, I'm glad there's two incinerates in every deck, but I'm don't expect them to be common. Wizards probably gave it a boast to uncommon for its graveyard effects.
The only thing that bothers me about these is that they're still making 40 card precons for the Core Set. The card choices themselves don't matter to me since I only use precons as teaching tools, and when I do that I just build the deck using the list on the Wizards site rather than buying one.
Wow, they actually have FOUR counterspells in the Blue deck this time. That like, might make a consistent difference, OMG!
lololol.
I got my hopes up too much. They're all still pathetic.
... and they put a Tidings in one of 'em. Which means I'm getting it (as sadly, I just couldn't fork up the cash to get any). Also, because I don't have any Cancels. And I'm going to use those Remove Souls along with my two and Flashfreeze to make R/G decks scream.

Just remember that these decks are not made for you. NONE OF YOU. They are exclusively designed to give NEW players a jumpstart. Everything else would just be a bonus.

Red gets the Vault to show their recklessness in trading creatures for knowledge (which sorta bleeds black, but the case can be made for red).
Blue with Rod.... uh, a veiled throwback to Tim? Not totally sure here...
Radha, Heir to Keld, Vorel of the Hull Clade, Kemba, Kha Regent, Vela the Night-Clad, Kozilek, Butcher of Truth, Barrin, Master Wizard, Slobad, Goblin Tinkerer, Patron of the Orochi, Oloro, Ageless Ascetic, Thraximundar, Roon of the Hidden Realm, Prossh, Skyraider of Kher, Marath, Will of the Wild, Teneb, the Harvester
If you did this, tell me and I'll credit you!
3CB and 4CB5CB!Red got the best of the bunch, and in a straight one-on-one against any of the other precons has the upper hand...
Blue got the worst rare+uncommon package...
White is the closest to any established mainstream strategy (white weenie), although there is plenty of room to tweak this guy...
Boo to all of the precons for having one wasted uncommon slot on the life-gaining artifacts...
Having a legend in the precon does make the game very interesting for newcomers...

Yet again red got ther best precon. Oh well. But maybe I'll try blue one for CiP mayhem ^^
Overall, not impressed whatsoever with the selections. Better off buying singles or packs.
