I don't want to sound like a racist or something, but the Merrow's face on the Inquest pic reminds me of a Chinese person. Add to that the fact that they are the "merchants and traders" of Lorwyn. hmmmn.
Funny, now that i see Ashling's whole picture... it's like Old Nightmare art + Sexy Female Body + Some articles of clothing lol.

So, anyone else bother to read and notice that the elves are splashed across black and green? It says that in the merrow's description. The camel thing he's sitting on is called a 'cervin', that flame-kin's name is Ashling, and I can't read the last line of the flame-kin stuff.

I don't know if you can say this in english, it's a Netherlands expression, (I hate the word Dutch so I'm one of the persons who try to push Netherlands above Dutch), love makes blind.
I really love that Merfolk. Even though it probably will have a crappy abilitie, I love him. Even though it's ugly, well yeah, I love him. Not that I ever find a Merfolk really pretty or attractive. But hey. No complaining about how they look, they are back, that's actually one of the most important things in the world right now. Euurm.. for me that is.
But I can't allready fully smile right now and say that we are there yet. If they make Merfolk with real tribal purposes like a Warchief or such they should be blue. Than I'm happy and I can die in peace over many a decades.

"Love is blind" Really she is, I had Aphrodite's vision checked today and she really needs glasses.
Now we got merfolk back, and people rejoice. The odd thing is that I've seen elf decks, goblin decks, zombies decks, but never ever have I seen a Merfolk deck. Why are people salivating over the return of a creature type that never actually got used? And now they spend all their time seducing people...with their wares. Another "iconic" race chosen simply for where they live. Bah.

Well, what would be the reason there are no decks? Don't be stupid, Merfolk didn't get the opportunity to get good cards. They weren't there when Goblins and others gain there Warchiefs, Siedge, Piledriver, blabla...
No they return and can get better cards. Merfolk need cards like lackey or from a same card level.
Plus Merfolk are just fun to play with. You've got Lord of Atlantis, one of the most efficient (blue) 2cc creature of Magic. Especially now! Merfolk also got the power to change lands into Islands. An army of unblockable weenies, how can't you love it?
And, well, you've never seen a Merfolk deck. Have you ever seen the chinese wall for real? Bet you don't, does it mean it doesn't exist? You do know the deck type Fish don't you. If I'm not mistaken, it was original fed up with Merfolk. Hence, fish.

Nope, no idea what "fish" is or any other mass-copied decks. And I have seen the chinese wall, don't know what you mean by "for real" as 'real' is a relative term. It just seems like people want merfolk now, because they were in magic before, the mono-blue magic clan hasn't even mentioned thier return, I woulda though if merfolk were so great they'd be at least worth an allusion.

They aren't good, they have huge flavour. And I like them and perhaps a few others too. Maybe a lots others too, I don't know for sure. Offcourse Merfolk aren't good, certainly not in standard. You've got about 10 Merfolk now, maybe that's even a too high gues. One of them has a real tribal purpose and that's it. You can't build a tournament winning deck with that.
You are aware what the whole mono-blue clan says, thinks, does, have said, thought and have did, but you even don't know fish. Hard to discuss with somebody who uses so much fallacies.
For real, with the chinese wall like you could walk to it and kiss it. But why are you this specific. It's just a metafor, or didn't you get that? You know damn well what I meant with that one. So just read it, eat my diss that I gave you and don't try to minor it a little by asking how relative it is.

Oh no, I've been dissed for shame. Should I meet you in the playground after school as well? If you want to know what the mono-blue clan thinks just read the thread. I don't know "fish" because as I said I don't any popular decks, the only reason I even know what in Dragonstorm is because someone actually used it against me, other than that I don't feel the need to memorize other popular decks.
According to the picture that Wizards paint of blue, it will always loose in a tribal fight, so the return of Merfolk is hardly worth celebrating, maybe this time they might border on useful.

I only play with you on the playground if you bring you bucket and a shuffle with you so we can build a nice sandcastle^^.
You don't have to know a whole decklist of fish, but you should know it begin with Merfolk and because lack of Merfolk fish became all weenies in all colors if it just were a color more than only white, or else it's white weenie. I think this is so i guess, don't know it for sure either. Anyway, I hope you get it, it's hard for me to talk a little english:P.
I don't care if merfolk will really win tournaments, playable is good enough for me. Besides, I just love to support the underdog. And with the good old islandwalkcombo's Merfolk would might make a chance.

Certainly it's not a match for Goblins, specially because Goblin Lackey, that can bring down a fast Siege-Gang Commander and a supreme Piledriver to end the job (that's what is worse with Merfolk, since Piledriver has protection from blue, you can't stop it once in play)
Anyway Merfolks are fairly competitive, specially on Tribal enviroment, being able to win by 4th turn, one turn later than goblins. (But needs a really good hand to accomplish this job)
I'm really excited on Merfolks returning, even more than any other races showned (Kithkins, Boggarts, Elementals and Elves).

The case for rabbits can be made since they are
a. Pastoral creatures, unlike antelopes
b. smaller than antelopes (kithkin are rather tiny.)
c. Spring - Jump (rabbits jump) Jack - Jackrabbit
I personally hope for Antelope, since I think that would be more interesting (reminds me of the Antelope/Ibix creatures in Princess Monoke.) though in all fairness it will probably be rabbits (makes more sense considering the kithkins penchant for farming, their size, and the pastoral world.)

I do agree that green is more often the color of true spirituality as opposed to white. But it's just that since we already know one race is split across enemy colors, it would be kind of weird if all the others were allied colors. Unless there's going to be 10 races, one for each color combination, and we just haven't heard anything about any of the other five. Also, it may be significant that "Flamekin" were also found in Ravnica, in the Boros guild.

Merfolk is the only race that can use landwalker properly with a great support of cards like Reef Shaman, Tidal Warrior, Lord of Atlantis.
Certainly it's not a match for Goblins, specially because Goblin Lackey, that can bring down a fast Siege-Gang Commander and a supreme Piledriver to end the job (that's what is worse with Merfolk, since Piledriver has protection from blue, you can't stop it once in play)
