I work at a web-site and got an e-mailed product solicitation for a special Theme Deck Set coming out in November. Here is the information... (I realize that this doesn't look legit, but it is).
Product Description and Content:
SRP = $119.94 per box, $ 19.99 per Duel-Deck
Magic: The Gathering Duel Decks
Elves vs Goblins
KEY SELLING POINTS
2 exclusive 60- card theme decks in one box for MSRP $19.99
Each deck contains 4 rares (as opposed to the 2 in a standard theme deck.
1 rare per deck is an alternate art premium card, visible through the cut-out in the box.
The decks are full of powerful and popular cards from the past 6 years of Magic™.
There are 3 exclusive token cards in the Duel Deck.
Both decks are legal in the Extended tournament format.
The decks are Elf and Goblin themed; both very popular among casual gamers and both tide to the most current set (Lorwyn™).
I'm going to guess this is done like the World Championship decks -- that is, with gold borders and special card backs.
Interesting, though.

"One skilled at battle takes a stand in the ground of no defeat
And so does not lose the enemy's defeat.
Therefore, the victorious military is first victorious and after that does battle.
The defeated military first does battle and after that seeks victory."
I'm assuming that it is going to be like Deckmaster/Beatdown/Battle Royale/Anthologies.
Yeah, that's what the info you posted sounds like, assuming it's true/accurate.
Not something I'd bother playing with or stocking in my store. Never really cared about theme decks, myself. But I guess there's somewhat of a market for it.
I'd have to wait for the decklist to come up, but it sounds like the perfect way to snag those common and uncommon Elves and Gobs are intergral but strangely hard to find offline.

Underling Ethu's 263rd report read simply "Yes, my lord.Overwhelmingly, my lord." This marked the end of the Mirran-Phyrexian War.
My original idea was that we will likely see some staples for Extended. Probably some harder to get cards from IPA to help boost the card pool for online Extended (And soon to be Classic) I am assuming by this that these precons then will be also available online. The question is then if these are Mono-colored decks or multiple colors.
The $20 price tag per deck is definately to keep from skewing prices too much. Goblins is likely getting Piledriver as stated. There are not alot of rares they can put into Elves that would make it worthwhile unless they add a second color. I can see Deed making it into the Elf deck for instance. This is a card in high demand and which will be needed in a growing Classic/Legacy format.
So the "special winter product for older players" isn't a "make legacy playable" chronicles 2 as some had speculated.
Yeah... I was hoping for ugly white bordered FoW and such (with random foils of course haha), and maybe duals. Maybe there will be fetchs? Easily accessible fetchs at least helps Legacy a little, as does pumping out extra uncommon goblins for everyone. Unfortunately, there can be no Lackey...
They can not seriously push Legacy without increasing supply for dual lands. I don't think it's possible. They NEED to release ugly ones in a box set eventually, or they'll end up having to make a new format that starts at Tempest and 6E or something...
Sakura, Deed isn't really played in Legacy so much... They should put Tarmogoyf in that bugger.

Everything is true in some sense, false in some sense, meaningless in some sense, true and false in some sense, true and meaningless in some sense, false and meaningless in some sense, and true, false, and meaningless in some sense. Repeat this 666 times and you will reach enlightenment.
In some sense. The only good fnord is a dead fnord.
3 tokens per pack, could that mean that they print elf tokens?
Is there any elf token generator?
If they really print new Piledriver's I'd better wait buying that gobbo deck from my friend.
Edit: Thanks, problem solved for the tokens. Most likely the 3 tokens in the gobbo deck are.... kithkin! j/k goblin's
Question: Do you know if you can get a decklist for us? We'd marry you if you could do that
I gave you all the information I had. There is also a picture... but it is just a generic picture of elves and goblins fighting, not card art, most likely box art.
I am agreeing with the sentiments about Goblin Piledriver being in this set, I am speculating that he is the obvious pick for the Goblins promo, but I can't think of a green equivelant for the Elf deck.
This looks cool; plus theme decks usually end up being a big hit with casual gamers from my experience so selling two of the most popular tribes shouldn't be too hard...

<< I just read that: and that are 2 decks for 10 dollar each with 4 rares, that's like 10 euro ( I know, they rip us off (10 dollar actually is 7 euro))
I'm still hoping this isn't what Maro was talking about when he said something that would appeal to veteran players. If veteran player is someone who has been playing for 6 or less years, then what am I? Ancient?

Pretty much in Wizard's eyes. Any of us who are still around from before Invasion block are dinosaurs.
I'm excited about this. I've got my old Goblin deck from Onslaught block, which will probably be quite similar, but nevertheless I'm certainly interested at this point.
I didn't hear about any alternate art for Goblin Piledriver... can anyone point me to it? I can't seem to find it.

Thanks to Future Sight, there's the Llanowar Mentor to make Llanowar Elves.
Elves can also make Bears, Elementals, Insects, Saprolings and Squirrels.

If the rare's are decent they'll sell many here!
This is a really fun idea. Make two of the most iconic creatures ever into a special deck set!!!
*Thumbs Up*

Onslaught block gave me hives.
I guess technically they threw us "older" players a bone with Coldsnap.
But how about Alliances 2 next time?
