I don't like the sound of this. Not the planeswalkers part, because we all saw that one to some degree (still, JUST the prospect) but the goblins part. Having boggarts as goblins really badly makes them far less interactive, as in, wizards will be scared to test the waters because of previous goblin craziness.
I solemnly swear that if Boggarts are goblins then I will eat mentos and drink a litre of diet coke, then have the morgue send you all the pictures.
nothing will happen greenliness, i have tried if you want to do something have some diet coke in your mouth, and then put some mentos in it, but you normaly aren't able to swallow it after that (I have tried)
and maybe the t2 with onslought could be awful but i was then a beginner and as a beginner onslought was really nice and also bosterdraft was verry cool, so I would be glad to see this, maybe because I hope i will then not suck that much in Bosster draft as I do now

My new houserules:
1. Every player saing exiled or battlefield will be kicked out.
2. Not using you mana deals 2 points of manaburn.
3. Combat damage goes over the Stack and you can freely assign it.
4. Lifelinks does stack and doesn't safe you from dying.
5. Tokens are owned bye the one who has made them.
Everyone thinking M10 will not affect a lot of cards or Limited a lot, either has no clue about magic or has never played limited or is getting paid by wizards to do propaganda.
I think they prove that Zenogais is trustworthy, because he has brought us spoilers before
And besides: he's an listed Rumor Mill Hero!
After reading these threads, I hope no one is doubting this guy. Actually, those threads are a good read for a good laugh, especially the Akroma one. Brings back good memories.
Seds, I know this bothers you as much as me, should there be a big thread at the top stickied and bolded that says "WE KNOW PLANESWALKERS ARE IN GATHERER!"?
I still want the Scan. Mostly because that had to be a paraphrase of what it said, and because I still need to see it with my own two beedy eyes.
Yeah, but did you know that Planeswalkers are in Ga . . . OH GOD! Ow, quit that . . . Stop pummelling me.
I've read a few posts where people are relieved that this will stop the P-T debate. That just seems like wishful thinking to me. I doubt we will stop hearing about this until we either (A) see both types in the block or (B) every last card in the final set is released.
Honestly, this is one of the most exhausting debates we've ever had. EVERY set we have people that are so 100% sure of something and it turns out to be false. Same goes for the nay-sayers... so while it's "fun" to debate the possibilities available to us in a new set, it's downright annoying that so many people are putting way to much energy into this. Seriously, if we had people putting as much energy into something that actually mattered in life that we do for rumors, we'd have one hell of a progressive planet.
Can't we mellow out a bit, and just agree that "it's possible for ____ to happen, but let's wait until we see proof to start crowing?" I guess I just don't get why people are all "I'm so happy PLaneswalkers are in" when we still have very little idea WHAT they do!
Thanks for the information. The tribal theme was fairly obvious(all narrow definition blocks(IE not ravnica, timespiral, invasion etc. which have a massive a mixed theme) need to create a feel and the easiest way is with tribes(Kamigawa is a prime example with nezumi, oruchi, kitsune and soratami all adding to the feel of a japanese mythos block)).
With the planeswalkers, while its cool that its happening, I have a feeling that the new style of planeswalker(Radha and Venser) introduced in the timespiral books were created so that wizards could make a planeswalker card without needing to make it as godly as it would originally have implied(near omnipotent, omniscient and imortal beings) now they can have planeswalkers which are really just legends with a special twist. I really hope i'm wrong though and true godly planeswalkers in the spirit of Urza Freyalise and such do somehow find a good representation in card form.

If the current theory of a "Thematic connection to tribes" instead of Onslaught style tribal is accurate, I don't really see any reason that they would need to hamper things out of worry for the old formats.
Especially right after having Slivers in TS (which are much closer to ONS style tribal) I'd tend to think any tribal themes explored in LOR are going to be quite different.
We should all remeber this is about speculation, they possibilties of what is to come not the heirarchy of "Wizards must do this but can't do that", because they have tricked us all before. The first time i heard of Time Stop i thought someone was pulling my chain, but they made it so there is nothing that we could do to stp it. Bickering over a theory/speculation is a waste of time, rather we should either investigate further with additional sources or theorize some possible applications of the mechanics/themes in question.

Thallids and Rebels are both technically tribal as well.

I think that 10th Edition should have went with Lin Sivvi, Defiant Hero for one of the white legends, yeah yeah I know it would have almost sinched a decent counter rebel deck today... what?... you thought I was going to say make a broken counter rebel deck like there was in Mercadia block and Type 2 in the ealy 00's... hardly!
By the way since this post was started by a false rumor... you know about a Magazine that's no longer being produced and how it had an advertisement for Lorwyn on it's latest edition back cover... why is this post allowed to continue?
I mean come ON... any other non-Mod-hooked-up-MTGsalvation commoner would have had this post locked, discipline points thrown on thier account and in a few days the post would be long forgotten. But alas it's still here? I just love how things are kept fair here.

Because the magazine IS being produced.
And the poster is a rumor mill hero.
For starters, the magazine is no longer in cycle for PUBLIC purchase but is a retailers magazine, it has already been confirmed several times over to that affect.
Secondly, Lin Sivvi was broken in the time when Diplomatic Immunity and the like was around, which we now has the Whisperslik Cloak to fill the same role. I don't see them reprinting her when the have the nigh-immortal Cho at their disposal.
Lastly, every set has a somewhat tribal theme in a sense, with creatures that have similar abilities or mechanics (Moonfolk, Yamibushi, Ninjas and Samarai, anyone?) but that doesn't make it a tribal theme. What makes it tribal will be a direct correlation between non-creature spells and creatures that you play with, a la Goblin Matron or Goblin War Strike in a Goblin deck.

Sivvi was the only creature that got banned/resticted in a format.
They would never bring her back.
Also please read threads before trying to make comments like those made in your post, as you clearly did not read the thread.

quick note: Lin Sivvi is not the only creature to have been banned/restricted in a format. Other luminaries on that list include Ali from Cairo, Arcbound ravager, Disciple of the vault, hypnotic specter and juggernaught.
On topic: I thought it was pretty likely/obvious that both tribal and planeswalker would be in the block. Planeswalker is splashier, but I had/have doubts it is deep enough to be a blocks major theme; I can't imagine an implementation which is more than a couple of dozen cards deep.
I work at The Game Preserve in Indianapolis, IN, and I've seen this ad. It is indeed on the Game Buyer magazine. What is said is in the ad is 100% accurate...I just read it today. Just wanted to vouch for this guy.
Hopefully someone will be willing to scan the ad soon now that it has been confirmed. Not to mention the credibility of the TC in many previous times before this.
I am very glad to be seeing Planeswalkers hopefully they pull it off well. I also hope a lot of testing has gone into them to prevent anything really bad.
I just realized. Mycoloth perfectly demonstrates the devour mechanic.
Mycoloth: NOMNOMNOM on Dragon Fodder.
One turn later, 1/1 turds come out.

Well then, that's that. Planeswalkers are in- its confirmed. Phase 2 of the "something new" process is about to begin on these boards, so prepare yourself for the "Planeswalkers will ruin magic" threads.
I'm having this weird feeling that they might template planeswalker much like the way they did tribal...there's already a built in excuse there...:-/

I've lost track: does anyone have a running total of how many times Magic was supposed to have been killed by something or another?
I can't wait to see what this holds; it should be very interesting to say the least.
but what are "planeswalkers" Ive played magic forever and never heard of this type of card that most of you seem to know what they are.
anyone care to clue me in?
:teach:Ok...originally when the game was first conceptualized by the benevolent Richard Garfield (hail, great maker of game!!!), we (the players) took the role of a Planeswalker...a mage/wizard with near omnipotent god-like powers who can travel the multiverse and of course we duel for power blah-blah-blah.
Also since the game is built around fantasy worlds, certain "heroes" of the worlds tackled by the game are told to have ascended to Planeswalker status (examples would include Jaya Balard, Urza, Teferi, Karn, Myojin of Night's Reach etc.) via an innate trait called "the spark" which, apparently is triggered in highly-make that severly stressful situations. In short, these characters are supposed to be our equals and thus they have influence in the world of magic (i.e. Karn can make a plane and we can visit that plane, fight for it, mess with it etc.) and is most often felt as flavor of certain cards (i.e. Jaya Balards' witty comments on iconic red burn spells).
Initially Wizards of the Coast has a standing rule they can't print Planeswalkers in card form since they are too powerful to make into a card. Design wise, it's almost impossible to justify and translate a planeswalker's power onto a 3.5inch x 2.5inch cardboard. However, recent events in the Timespiral Block have either killed off planeswalkers of old (planeswalkers v1.0) or de-sparked them and introduced a new breed of planeswalkers (planeswalkers v2.0) that are "weaker" than the originals. This changeseems to make them possibly printable in card form.
What they do as a card is still unknown but Lorwyn hopefully will show us.
End of lesson

There's some speculation that planeswalker cards will enable an individual player to function more like a team of players might in two-headed giant or some other multiplayer format; it would give all the "multiplayer matters" cards greater strength in duels and it would fit the established flavor of planeswalkers. However, this is all speculation and we have no idea how something like this would actually work; we can try to guess what's likely based on the very few clues Wizards has given us but until Gen Con (most likely), we'll still be in the dark.
