I'm so souped for Lorwyn; it looks like it's going to be gorgeous. Merrow ftw! I'm glad that I can finally open a booster and not worry about getting less commons for a "futureshifted" uncommon that I can probably get in this set. Normal boosters kthxbai.
This may be way out there, and I know it's going against what's been pretty much established for the color designations for the Merrow, but does anyone else think the booster art looks almost blue/red? Maybe it's just me.

PICS OF FAE PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Am I the only one looking forward to this? All the other races sound fairly boring, Fae will definitely be my favorite, and they can't seem to leak anything more about them than that they're troublesome sprites. Give us some Fae love, WotC!!!
I'd like to see more of everything. Does anyone know when the official spoilers start coming, or does anyone have an estimate of when some unofficial spoiling might begin?
Humboldty: Wizards say they'll start with cards previews on September.
Bethebunny: i guess fae will only do an entering by Morningtide, since on Lorwyn precons you have only Elves/Boggarts/Kithkins/Elementals/Merrows (maybe there'll be some Faeries cards on the Lorwyn set, but certainly they will strong it's release by Mornintide). Cross your fingers for cool faeries cards already on Lorwyn.
#$%, wished alot for Minotaurs, maybe on next sets.

"Now i lay you, down to rest, you'll never be more than second best" (Megadeth)
That creature reminds me of "Turtle Mountain" from The Neverending Story (faallllkoorrrrrrrrrrrr!!! ;)) crossed with some kind of ox.
Here's another look at the image... not much help.
Kind of an odd combination of imagery. On one hand, he's brutish, strong, equipped with a nasty pair of bashing horns, and clearly meant to charge like a bull. On the other hand, he's half turtle, heavily defensive, and so slow that a crane is perched on one horn, easily standing on one foot. Weird.
Humboldty: thx for cheering me up, now i'm seeing a Minotaur again on this picture
R_E: lol...good catch, FAALLKORR!! was great! (didn't remembered him).
I guess it's a Minotaur coming from under a smashed tower bell lost in a jungle. (with this new oversized pic, this creature seems more sentient to me...Look at his eyes, can you see anger? like: Are you messing on my bell?)
Anyway, green Minotaurs?
ps:RE thx for the sized pic.

"Now i lay you, down to rest, you'll never be more than second best" (Megadeth)
It's a little crazy, but I think 3d and 5th packs also depict elementals. Alas, we don't have The Main Visual Cue of elementals (as floating objects of Kami, the Rift on Suspend spells or guild symbols), so we can't be sure whether they're elementals or not...
I like this Merfolk art, I like it more than the other Merfolk that looked really chinese. This one is really a fish or something ans looks a bit like old rootwater matriarch.

hey i have managed to evolve my axolotls by feeding them thyroid glands the thyroxine contained in these gland is enough to change these water dwelling creatures into land based creatures

Tay, that's not evolution. It's metamorphosis. Evolution means descent with heritable modification – individuals cannot evolve, unless they're Pokemon.

Seems that the "Gaea" of Lorwyn has a Momir Vig mind.
Sigged, for it's hillarious ^^
Now when you said it... Shriekmaw is a crazy hybrid of bird, butterfly, toad and salamander, right? Then maybe all non-standard elementals (not Flamekin or treefolk) in Lorwyn are hybrids like that?
I speculated several months ago that Lorwyn might be a prehistoric set. I think we'll get that.
1) Wild, primative versions of otherwise-modern creatures
2) Prehistoric creatures
3) Snow? (When you think of Ice Ages, you think of ancient, extinct creatures...yes? (Probably in sets 3 & 4)
4) What else?...

I was actually thinking along these lines too, especially with all the moss/vines growing on him. It's almost as though he's generally very defensive, with all those obvious signs, but is capable of extreme short bursts of agression. So some kind of ambush mechanic, perhaps?
Maybe that's not really a shell but a silhouette of the Auroch/Buffalo's muscular back. His big horns are too big and vine entangled obscuring our view of the animal's broad shoulders.
He does look pretty irritated though.

Does anybody noticed that there is no black booster theme ? Doesn't it means that Lorwyn will gonna be more a Green+ and Black- Block ? I guess so 'cause of Shadowfall. That might be Black > Green.
Nice! My personal favorite booster art would be that one with the female flame-elemental thing...
About the "mysterious cow creature"... personally i could only see it as it is: a cow-head under a tortoise shell (there's these ..aquamarine grooves on the shell that resembles normal tortoise shell). It is possibly a "new creature race" not yet revealed.
"Ambush" is a possible idea for its mechanic [speculation starts..] (maybe coming into play as a land, then triggers off on "something" & becomes a creature?) [/end speculation..]
What's interesting about the Cow creature with a Shell is the birds sitting on it. It reminds me of the Hippos/Crocodiles who have birds come pick and clean their skin. The beak of the bird also shows it's a water bird...
If you re-evaluate the green stuff on the shell and being dragged from the horns it becomes more apparent that this then must be algae and water plants as it is lifting itself from the water...
Now another intersting thing is that Minotaurs have only every been Red or Blue in Magic. So this is a watery Minotaur creature with a shell...
My vote is that this must be the Red/Blue colour combination tribe
...

Good catch. If you look at the big pic of the "shell" it looks like copper. The light blue splotches on it are even characteristic of copper oxide, basicaly copper rust. Normaly copper turns a slightly greener color, but it still looks like an old copper bell that has been lost and tarnishing in the jungle. Its even too tall to be a good shell and looks like it wouldn't cover the Ox things sides. I am going with the minotaur idea. I like that we are getting all these lesser used tribes (asside from Elf and Goblin). At least I hope it is a minotaur.
Edit - This may be over analyzing now, but the Bull thing almost looks like it is made of brass and has the same blueish tarnish on its nose. Maybe the bull is a construct/Golem. Maybe we will have an artifact tribe of some sort.
Hey, i liked the U/R Minotaur idea, it really should happen (as long as through Magic history, Minotaurs were these 2 colors). A watery Minotary....in a World full of rivers, maybe it's a River Minotaur, or even Minotaur Shell Trapper...(lol...lame guesses)
Anyway, i'm still on my campaign for a Minotaur's Tribe on Lorwyn block.
