It's not uncommon to have at least one tribal precon and 2 or 3 is not unheard of, especially if they're important to the flavor or story of the set like in Kamigawa. Right now elf, kithkin, and elemental seem more analogous to CHK's snake, samurai, and spirit than ONS' bird, cleric, illusion, and beast.
IE: The races are more important to the story and flavor of LOR than the mechanic theme.
Finding out about 3 tribal precons in LOR is not anomalous enough to confirm whether it is or isn't tribal and we already have suggestions for an enchantment block. At the very most these two theories are now equal.
Actually, its 4 Decks that are obviously tribe themed, and the 5th (Boggart) is pretty much also confirmed, so really, 100% of the Precons for Lorwyn are TRIBAL.
Theres nothing there that says, Planeswalkers Rash! or Planeswalkers Unite!
Its just 5 precons with obvious Tribal names. 3 in two colors, 1 mono and 1 5 color.
Also, with the exception of Boggart and Kithkin we have alot of cards for the other 3 tribes already floating around in the standard. Merfolk, Elves and elementals.
Its obvious (at least to me) that the Kithkin are going to be rebels and fighting the society that is in Lorwyn, and the Elves are the Bad guys authoritarians. Hence why both tribes are weaker in Standard atm, because both will be getting a major boost come Lorwyn.
If anyone knows why G0-DRAW was banned I would love it if they would PM me. That guy was pure entertainment 100% of the time. Plus he never publicly responded to his Contraptions "Proof" that never panned out.
At last another Tribal Set. After the amusing come of Onslaught, another Tribal set seems to come, and our beloved creatures can clash again.
As all rumors are going, like planeshifters and so, seems that the Tribal Theme will go for all the block. Just hope it does not keep on Creature + pump/tricks, but also combo decks with creature types on spot.
Seems that all Tribal Decks as we know by now will gonna change. These color splits seems to break down the original creature deck's color. Elves get black on it (as expected), Merfolk recieved white, maybe Goblins could also make a show up, but certainly with another splash (maybe B/R as Boggarts, as long as there are cards like Festering Goblin).
Seems a new twist on tribal blocks, seems to be alot of fun. Can wait 'til it comes.
Prepare your old tribal decks, save your money, we're gonna have fun on Standard now!

"Now i lay you, down to rest, you'll never be more than second best" (Megadeth)
Well, I seem to recall a piece of rumour/speculation that Lorwyn would be drawing from Celtic mythology.
Since merrow are the Irish equivalent of merfolk (BTW, as far as I can find, they don't generally have legs, they have tails like other merfolk), and boggarts are also from Celtic myth, I think that we've basically confirmed that rumour and that those words are the ones that will be present in the English names of these pre-cons.
Since I found the following description of boggarts:
" This is a faerie that is like a brownie, but more mischievous. They herald from Celtic mythology as house-dwelling faeries who have been abused or otherwise mistreated, and they retaliate by playing infuriating tricks on the humans they might have once helped. However, this faerie is not usually more than just a nuisance; it is not a bad spirit or evil demon. Trying to appease it may get it back on your side again.",
I think they're likely to be mostly red. I wonder if that means that they're treated as a type of goblin, or whether they'll be something else. I can definitely see a goblinesque side to them.

Than and then are very different words.
"I'm going to have more than Natalie Portman" is quite different from "I'm going to have more, then Natalie Portman".

Actually I was going to bring that up, I think the Boggarts are going to be the Goblins. Ala Akki. And I hope its Celtic themed, I find most things Irish interesting. (only partially because Im Irish American. )

Forgive me if this sounds a bit like stereotyping, but I wonder if there'll be leprechauns. o_o;u
EDIT: Aaaand what color would leprechauns be? Green is laughably obvious, but I'm mean philosophy-wise. ._.;
In British folklore, a boggart (or bogart, bogan, bogle or boggle) is a household spirit, sometimes mischievous, sometimes helpful. In Northern England, at least, there was the belief that the boggart should never be named, for when the boggart was given a name, it would not be reasoned with or persuaded and become uncontrollable and destructive.
This really makes me doubt that boggarts = giants, unless WotC has deviated wildly from their source material. They could be imps, faeries, goblins, spirits, or a totally new creature type, but it's hard to imagine a giant as a "household spirit." Also, consider the flavor text of Mistmeadow Skulk. If boggarts were giants, would he have to cut down the wheat to see them? They're going to be something mischievous and small in stature.

Quote from Horseshoe Hermit »
Karma doesn't exist. You can't depend on it. If you count on it for justice or catharsis, you will find that you have placed your emotions on very unstable ground; and you will either repeat your disappointment in society over and over, or you will engage in a persistent delusion to protect yourself from that feeling.
White - Kithkin
Blue - Merfolk (race Merrow ala Akki more than Mogg I think)
Green - Elves, but kind of primitive? I believe the Llorwyn novel blurb mentions an elf who is disgraced by his lost horns
Black - Boggarts (Imps? Spirits? Faerie?) i think what we know so far suggests trickster-types
Red - Giants anybody? Look at the preview art from 10th, not to mention the number of futureshifted giants in Futuresight. (In addition, Boldwyn is a rather gaelic name, no?)
With elementals being perhaps the main plotline drivers? Are there not usually large issues that drive the story of each block? Kami war in kamigawa, rifts in Spiral block.
Forgive me if this sounds a bit like stereotyping, but I wonder if there'll be leprechauns. o_o;u
EDIT: Aaaand what color would leprechauns be? Green is laughably obvious, but I'm mean philosophy-wise. ._.;
I hope Lorwyn is not tribal. I am not a fan of an overriding tribal theme in block (like in Onslaught block); I prefer it to be more of a sub-theme (like in Kamigawa block with Spirits and Time Spiral block with Thallids).
The creature type there does make sense. Leprechauns are a type of fae in Gaelic folklore.

- Jon Finkel Facts: (follow the link at left to see more Facts, or add more Facts!)
- Chuck Norris counted to infinity twice—because he was trying to count how much damage Jon Finkel deals in an average game.
- Jon Finkel believes in maintaining a healthy, balanced diet. He gets all his fiber from eating Magic cards for breakfast, and all his protein from eating Magic players for lunch.
I'm not 100% on this, but am fairly sure that 'Merrow' is the name of a mythical creature which was waterlocked. Magic writers may have translated 'Merfolk' into 'Merrow'.
'Bogart' is also used in myth as a small imp, goblin (not the red goblins of magic), or minor demon. Thats Bogart's english definition though.
And elves. But there will be faeries as well, so sayeth the Phosphorescent Feast.
And Steamflogger Boss says that there will be Riggers. Remember that a lot of futureshifted cards won't be reprinted. But still, faeries look like great secondary tribe for a block like this.
Oh, about the tribes. Why everyone forgot about Giants? After all, we've found the anagram in Boldwyr Intimidator... And don't say "Wow, boggarts! That means that there will be no zombies!". There was no set in which each color got ONE AND ONLY ONE tribe.
And I don't think that Lorwyn will be tribal only because we have precons with creatures in them...
PS: My guess on the Leprechauns would be Red, because of Red's trickster minor theme...
i think that leprechauns would be G/U the same way that faeries are . they are part of nature( green) and tricky in a mean way (think Teferi or disruptive student)
I think it's important to note that there are now going to be "Lords" available to all 5 colors in Standard (Goblin King, Elvish Champion, Field Marshall, Lord of Atlantis, Lord of the Undead). The white "lord" boosts Soldiers, and there's also the Soldier generator Mobilization. Is it possible that each color will have more than one tribe, or will Kithkin be soldiers?
Also, several pro-artifact and artifact hoser cards got reprinted in Xth; will there be an artifact tribe as well?
5 color elementals? I wonder if elementals are tribal meets domain, with elementals gaining bonus stuff if you control other colored permanents, different land types or pay mana of different colors to play them (like kicker). Something like:
Land Elemental 2G
Creature - Elemental
Land Elemental has flying as long as you control an Island, vigilance as long as you control a Plains, and first strike as long as you control a Mountain 1G:Regenerate Land Elemental. Play this ability only if you control a Swamp.
Land Elemental has shroud as long as you control a non-green, non-artifact permanent.
2/2
I know my templating is horrible, but the essence is there: a creature that is bad if you're just playing green but benefits from being in contact with different types of lands and even other colored permanents.

In Northern England, at least, there was the belief that the boggart should never be named, for when the boggart was given a name, it would not be reasoned with or persuaded and become uncontrollable and destructive.
It is said that the boggart crawls into people's beds at night and puts a clammy hand on their faces. Sometimes he strips the bedsheets off them. Sometimes a boggart will also pull on a person's ears. A horseshoe hung on the door of a house will keep a boggart away."
La Senda De Los Elementales :is: The Footpath Of the Elementary ones
Fluviovias Sirenideas :?: I have no clue... something about the Faith of the Sirens... I had no luck translating.
Milicia Kithkin :?: Well... what i got was A female military of Kithkin (a race?)
Banquete Papao :?: Another... hmmm. What I was able to gather was. A Father's Dinner.
Predacao Elfica :is: NOT Predator Elves or anything of that sort. It is actually a preface... or The Begining of the Elves, but not Elves at all. A city maybe? Elfica could be a person too... All I know is that Predacao or Deprededores is the begining or the start of something.
Boggarts, Merrow... taking a trip to the British Isles, are we? Woo! My only concern is that Wizards will have to step lightly on Gaelic names, or else include a pronunciation guide.

Do I Contradict Myself? Very Well Then I Contradict Myself.
Yey, a Tribal set, this set may be an interesting one, especially for that 5 color precon, it is starting to suggest that there would be multicolored cards in Lorwyn, and maybe even lands, I wonder what lands they would print in this set...
Too bad no hint of any planeswalkers yet in these precons, reall expecting a planeswalker precon....
#1 - What's the dumbest idea you ever had?
#2 - 15/15 for 15?
#1 - Make it dumber
#2 - Give it protection from removal and counter?

#2 - Add Timewalk?

#2 - It destroys everything when it attacks.... And wait, I have a friend who plays mill decks... I want to beat him too.

Looking at the way all the cards sound, and assuming that we can use the FS 'duals' as a template, the closest bet would either be the 'lifelands' (Grove of the Burnwillows) or the 'playlands' (River of Tears). Least likely candidate will be the 'guildfilters' (Graven Cairns).

Am I right in thinking that extended is about to loose Onslaught block?
If so then there must be a tribal block to allow the tribal format to continue in a healthy fashion. I can definately see one with a strong enchantment subtheme though.
