The Fodder Launch art is disgusting---but in a good way, because the image is SUPPOSED to be disgusting, as the flavor text tells us.
And the other thing that flavor text tells us is that Boggarts are definitely Goblins.
"Champion an Elf" has an awkward sound to its wording, but man, that Wren's Run Packmaster can be a beating. In limited, it's an outright bomb. I don't really get the flavor though....it's hard to see how one elf, no matter how much of a bad-ass he is, can be a 5/5 (those 5/5 statistics only count one elf, since the name of the card is singular, and they don't count the wolves, since the wolves are repressented by separate tokens) --- even Elvish Champion is just a 2/2.

I love the elves in this set,
the flamekin, newish elves, and newish merfolk = great races
the boggarts, kithkin, and giants = terrible races
purely my feelings, but very hit and miss.
Love how this is "classic-y fantasy" but still with some originality

The internet is like drugs, it can be alot of fun, but most people on it say really stupid stuff
I normally hate all elves...D&D,Magic,LotR.But the Lorwyn elves actually seem really kool.Furhter more they seem to use weapons made from the wood, not sure about the knives, not at all like other elves.Elves in other setting claim to be in tune with nature, then trun around and use blacksmithing!!!,which is industrialist,ya know instead of living off of nature.

Perhaps the 5/5 is because the Packmaster usually has his pack of wolves with him, and his ability simply splits a single wolf away from the pack to attack on it's own?
What happy midgets? I don't think I've seen a smiling character yet.
Certainly not a kithkin.
Of course the kithkin will be smiling. The grass is right about tall enough to tingle their...ehm.
More elves and goblins. Yawn. I'd like to see some treefolk and werewolves.

Wow, I love that goblin art! I like the look less-human look that they are going with in this set. They could even ratchet that element up another notch and it would be cool, IMO.
To the guy who hates elves
Their are quite a bunch of DnD elves that don't use steel. They are called wood elves. Basic DnD elves are "high" elves.

Most of the Lorwyn Art looks like it really belongs in Magic: The Smurfs. I keep expecting to see Gargamel show up in the background somewhere. Flamekin and Elves look pretty decent, but Boggarts and Kithkins just look stupid. I'll withhold judgement on Giants.
Magic: The Smurfs? (What color would blue-skinned smurfs be? Green, considering they're woodland creatures with a sense of community?) Sounds totally awesome! I'd play that...oh wait, we get to with Lorwyn! Seriously, it would be nice to see a happy block, just for a change, because Magic seems mostly one doom-and-gloom block after another.

Goblin Hopper 3R
Champion a Goblin
Haste
Whenever ~ deals combat damage to an opponent, you may destroy a land they control.
3/2
He hopped on his head, I enjoy that. I don't like how he is in a medow. A blue sky makes the art half as cool as it could have been.
This card is ridiculously strong. I understand that you're comparing it to Avalanche Riders, but FFS the riders has a one-shot ability and a huge downside. This, on the other hand, has no downside to counteract it's saboteur ability and haste, making it crazy strong.

It restricts your deck design a bit but it's hardly a downisde. Nowhere near an echo cost of 3R. You could Champion a Mogg War Marshal or Stingscourger and get their comes into play abilities again when the Hopper dies.
edit- Though I'll agree with him and say that it's likely a Champion a goblin card. Probably even costs 3R.

It's priced as one. The one Champion card we have so far provides a 5/5 with a strong token generation ability (3 mana for 2/2s with a keyword, any number of times per turn) for 3G. That's probably a 4GG card without the drawback.
Similarly, Avalanche Riders is probably a 4RR spell natively; echo generally reduces play cost by around 1/3. This price comparison makes me think that Wizards is considering echo and champion to be approximately equivalent drawbacks.
EDIT: My current guess is that Champion won't actually be a "turns up on everybody" ability, but rather an elf-specific tribal keyword, the way Evoke seems to be for Elementals. We'll see though.

I don't know about that. It's certainly worded in such a way that it could be used for other creature types. And considering this is supposed to be a tribal block, I can easily see Champion a Goblin, or Champion a Kithkin. Maybe even something like Champion 3 Goblins. Either way, I do like that they left the keyword open so that they at least have that design space they can move into in the future if not now.
Oh? I untap with my Djinn in play? Then I'll cast High Tide 5 times, let the copies resolve, cast Remand 3 times, the first and second targetting the original High Tide, and the third targetting the first Remand. After the stack empties, I'll cast a Turnabout with 1 replicate, and triple-remand again. Net Effect: Draw 4 cards, Islands all produce 4 extra blue, lands untapped. Repeat until I draw Vision Charm and proceed to deck several hundred players.
I don't know about that. It's certainly worded in such a way that it could be used for other creature types.
True; R&D has made a significant effort to word keywords broadly. (It can also be used for different numbers: "Champion two elves," etc.) But Cycling was worded with a cost originally, yet it took four years before anything but "Cycling 2" was printed.
And considering this is supposed to be a tribal block, I can easily see Champion a Goblin, or Champion a Kithkin.
I don't think it's impossible, and
My argument mostly has to do with the block design question. Onslaught took the original, very naive approach to block theming: what Mark Rosewater refers to as "X matters," where you print a large number of cards that simply get better as you have more "X" in play.
Lorwyn, we've already seen, takes a more sophisticated tack. Each tribe is spread over multiple colors and has its own completely distinct mechanical theme (similar to the Ravnica guilds in that way); besides extremely broad things like "Tribal-type cards" I don't see any reason to believe there are any cross-tribe methods of encouraging Tribal play.
As a result, it seems logical to me that something like Championing would be something limited to one (or two) guilds and explored within, instead of a single mechanic applied in exactly the same way to multiple tribes.
Either way, I do like that they left the keyword open so that they at least have that design space they can move into in the future if not now.
I agree!
It also wouldn't surprise me (I just thought of this while typing the post) if the tribal themes are "restricted" in Lorwyn, but then spread out in interesting cross-tribe ways in Morningtide.
