That music was a HORRIBLE fit to the world of Lorwyn.
It's like WotC just wanted to continue to appeal to the teenagers with "oh, yeah, we rock hard, hear us rock, you hear that, da da dum, rock on, Magic is exciting, it's a competitive extreme sport, man." It's the same generic type of music we hear on a lot of the videos that WotC puts out. Wizards really missed out on the opportunity to tailor this video's music to the world of Lorwyn.
Hey, c'mon - we don't know that the Kithkin aren't all into the hard rock scene, do we?
Alright, probably not.

There's one at the door, at the gate to damnation...
Is it thief, thug or whore? There's one at the door...
And there's room for one more till the end of creation. Neil Gaiman, Sandman #4 - A Hope in Hell
However, the video itself wasn't all that bad. What are they gonna do, have somebody animate the static arts? Why? It's mainly intended to showcase the setting and the art. Apart from perhaps going a scosh too fast, the video did what it was intended to do. They could have thrown some product shots in there, though, to tease you with what you'll actually be buying.
Meh, that was pretty boring. I hope they don't expect it to attract any new players. Altho it does remind me of why WotC probably shouldn't try to adapt MtG into a console RPG ever again...

"Dark Ritual, Hypnotic Specter, Hymn to Tourach. If there is an unholy trio in Magic, this is it. These three cards have been wreaking havoc and crushing dreams for over a decade. They're like the New York Yankees, except powered by black magic. Oh, wait... never mind." Chris Millar House of Cards
I doubt they'll ever be able to top the Ravnica video. That was damn cool.
Flashier videos will grab people better than a slideshow of still art with tiny effects added. They have to have the budget for the stuff. Run something like the Ravnica video on TV and you'd probably get more people.
You guys should be thankful. The Dungeons and Dragons 4th edition video was much worse. How would you like it if a scary French man spent 4 minutes making fun of your favorite game?
I actually liked the dnd video. it was funny and kept me interested.
The lorwyn video didn't do much for me. I think they could have done a better job, but more than likely more advertising will come that will be better.
Seriously Rav and Invasion is were perfect even in thier promotion

Don't you see that the whole aim of Moderators is to narrow the range of thought? In the end we shall make infractions literally impossible, because there will be no words in which to express it. Every concept that can ever be needed, will be expressed by exactly one word, with its meaning rigidly defined and all its subsidiary meanings rubbed out and forgotten.
The Ravnica video had animations which make it a tad better then this. But never the less, this cheap video preview of upcoming art is still valid and should become standard for ALL magic expansions.
Just techno music and moving art work nothing special. I thought it was gonna be someone talking about the themes and stuff, and then mabye a card would be previewed at the end. But no....
The two goblins at the end bear no resemblance to the other boggarts we've seen previewed. No horns. I'd say they look larger. These gremlin-like goblins could belong on Dominaria and most people wouldn't know the difference. I like the small, ugly boggarts from the other arts. The video let me down in terms of art.
That movie was sincerely dissapointing. If I knew nothing about lorwyn and this was my first encounter with it, I would be completely turned off. I dont think thats what brand intends.
I can't stop laughing at this video. pure comedic genius i say! It feels like 1993 all over again! seriously this is exactly the type of preview video (sans the interweb :)) id expect to see in the early 90's. Who on earth is on the wizards branding/marketing team?! (watching the ravnica preview vid, then the lorwyn one again, i am continually more confused as to how it went from fantastic to this trainwreck.)
Wow, what a step backwards. I just watched the D&D4e and Ravnica videos.
The D&D4e video was at least a bit funny.
The Ravnica video was downright awesome, with full animation.
By comparison, the Lorwyn video is terrible, and not just for its mismatched music.

I watched it like 4 times and it just got funnier. The music builds so much suspense in the beginning, and then it's just the worst music coupled with the worst video. Hysterical
No voice over?
Ravnica's was so much better. When I first saw the video I had no sound (due to being in an AMC Terminal in Diego Garcia with antique Gateway computers). So I couldn't wait til I got home to listen to......<sighs>

just watched the Ravnica one fpr the first time and now the Lorwyn sucks worse. I hope this video is not a major forshaddowing of how good the set is. Ravnica=cool set forshaddowed by awesome video. Lorwyn = crappy set forshaddowed by crappy video ??? hope not.

From this point on, any people who post to say the video 'might be' or 'is' fake are getting infracted.
I have deleted many posts trying to say that, and it is extremely clear these people do not know how to read threads before posting.

Keep in mind people, it costs some serious bling to make a pretty animated video like the one for RAV. With convention season pretty much over, there is no reason to have splashy advertisements. For RAV they wanted to gain back people they lost with Mirrodin/Kamigawa and probably wanted to show as many people as possible that the game hadn't collapsed on itself. Now the game is pretty healthy and doesn't need much for adverts.

I agree. This is something that I have never understood about advertising these type of things. You're trying to make something that immovable (the art) to something that is (motion pictures) for a game that doesn't have it. Notice how books advertise on TV, there's nothing really in there, it's just shadows, and scenery, and the book? You can't promise all of these things when it's just a game that doesn't move. That's why Magic is very hard to advertise on TV/Internet video sans just showing the cards.
I remember when they did the old ones (that were on Arcana? about a year or two ago, can't find them now) when they were in the labs with the Orgg and other creatures. Those are much more entertaining, and more along the lines of what I think they should be advertising with. They also had some ads after those that had kids with backpacks playing cards, and trying to be early 1990's MTV, which kinda worked.
I just don't see the point of making a video about Magic if it just shows (almost) non-moving art. Just because you-tube is there, you don't have to use it.

Its like they got a bunch of still frames and final cut and decided to add some effects. STUPID.
