Awesome! Talk about a nice FNM foil. I'm looking forward to having four of these.

First PTQ top 8 6/13/09(1st) Second PTQ top 8 10/7/09(5th) Second at national Qualifier 5/15/10
Third PTQ top 8 2/12/11 (2nd)
Second at Alberta 2011's
Fourth PTQ top 8 3/17/12(8th)
GP Vancouver 2012 (18th)
Holy crap! What an awesome card to reprint. I've been too busy to make it to any FNMs in July, and was really bummed about a lack of Engineered Plagues. This makes me forget about that altogether.
Looks gorgeous. Always loved that art... The new Magus was good to mimic that gritty, dark look. (which reminds me of the Drain Life art... another favorite)
Yeah, talk about a rant. Mono-black at heart, I suppose.
am i the ONLY one who hates that they are reprinting cards already avalible in foil, and that have no real use?
at least give us alternate art, then maybe i'd care

Yes, you are the only one. I personally think that the upgrade in the way they foil the cards is amazing. New foiled coffers will look 10x better. Seriously- would you rather us get Basking Rootwalla, or Goblin Legionaire again?
Since every extended-legal card is available in foil, and they print extended legal cards for FNM, I'm guessing you will have a hateful, unhappy life. Unless they find certain cards that were reprinted, but had older art that wasn't foil... They also take into account cards that have served as promos, judge foils, etc for other things.
Appended to not get spam warning: What a truly excellent card to choose for a promotional card. I shall endeavor to collect a set. Jolly good show, Wizards.

Huh? Who cares if they're already available in foil? They're not already available in FNM foil. And how does this awesome card not have a use?

They may have already come in foil, but some of us like me didn't get any Coffers during Ody(I took a break at the time). I love the look of the foils too. Shineys make me a happy Magic player :).
Well, by the time you hit four* lands you probably want something more than a land that makes one mana. Before four lands, you want your lands to tap for mana. It's the same reason no one plays Temple of the False God, as they are the same card on 5 except that Coffers needs 'em all to be swamps but makes B in return.
*Coffers+4 swamps = tap three land to make four mana. At four it's break even and therefore counts as a normal land in that it "taps" for 1.

Tarmogoyf has no evasion, yet it sees tonnes of play. What makes this any different?
10/12 F07? It's either fake or stolen... there's no way a legitimate eBay seller could have an October FNM card for sale now. Don't be surprised if this gets taken down.
Also... I'll be wanting four when it comes out.

Hey all... I'm retired, not dead. Check out what I'm doing these days (and beg me to come back if you want):
Last month was engineeredplague, this month is goblin ringleader, and then cabal coffers coming up, what else can they make an fmn card to top the amazing cards they printed recently. Hymn to tourach is about the only one i can think of.

In the beginning the universe was created. It has made alot of people very angry, and is widely regarded as a bad move.

Are you trolling? Not every game ends on turn five, and Coffers has been used quite a bit.

He seems like it. While coffers has it's drawbacks, theres a reason why thier average worth is $5.00 while the average rare from Torment is only about $1.50. Never underestimate the middle to late game coffers.
ALL FNM cards are extended-legal, with most using their original artwork (if they've been reprinted, ie Kird Ape, Engineered Plague, Icy Manipulator, Elves of Deep Shadow). And the fact they are now printing uncommons that usually cost about AU$5 each (Ringleader, Coffers, etc) instead of dimebox crap (Elves of Deep Shadow, Icy Manipulator, etc). So I'm pretty happy with what we're getting.

Before the fourth turn Coffers is bad. On the fourth turn it is just like dropping a swamp. Every turn after that, assuming you drop a land, it becomes better, and better, and better. A mono-black control deck (which is the most common deck to run these in), isn't looking to win on the fourth or fifth turn. Cabal Coffers + any big mana outlet like Nantuko Shade or Consume Spirit is great. Anyone who has ever played a mono-black control deck, and even some mono-black aggro decks (depending on how many pumpables are included) will tell you it's a great card.

Unless there's a urborg, tomb of yawgmoth involved, in that case the coffers break even at 3 mana and start accelerating from 4 lands onward. While that doesn't happen (getting the insane and impossbile amount of 4 lands in play), Duress, Cabal Therapy, Smother, Chainer's Edict and the like are your friends to deal with both aggro and control.
on topic:
yes the coffers are good. I never owned any 'cause they're expensive around here (at least they go for more than i'm willing to pay for) and having coffers for FNM promos is just very, very exciting.
ok i will admit that yawg tomb does help even so this card sees no use in extended
I won a 70-person PTQ with it last year. You're looking at mana accel in control the wrong way. Control runs plenty of cards to stall up the early and mid game, but there's no reason to play it if you can't exploit the late game. Coffers lets you do this.
if this is real... oh man... solid land..very solid
(I don't know if I'm allowed to put a link to the auction.. so I'll avoid that, just run a search)
Edit (08.30.2007): confirmed to be October/2007 FNM prize

Judges got their Vindicate today... so I guess a (very) solid FNM on the horizon is a fair trade
Seriously though, I guess I'm excited, cause my casual reanimator deck runs these...might even try to buy some later...
