I hope there won't be much Merfolk in white or many synergy with white cards for Merfolk. They allready have 5 tribes, blue 3 so I hope blue gets the load of Merfolk.

hey i have managed to evolve my axolotls by feeding them thyroid glands the thyroxine contained in these gland is enough to change these water dwelling creatures into land based creatures

Tay, that's not evolution. It's metamorphosis. Evolution means descent with heritable modification – individuals cannot evolve, unless they're Pokemon.

Personally I'd rather seem kithkins in black and faeries in green, because kithkin seem like uber badass, and green can be manupulative just on a primitive level.
(Emphasis mine).
That's the thing though, faerie really aren't primal. They are very very aristocratic and have a fairly stratified society, at least in the source material Lorwyn seems to be drawing from.
True, the Lorwyn elves are the same way, but celtic faerie never have been all that strongly connected to nature except for possibly the element of air, which is usually tied to Blue.
Galepowder Mage is definitely more aggressive than control. Let's re-word the card to show how it will often be used (outside of Constructed combo plays with CIP abilities):
That's a very Red ability, and totally aggressive. If your smallish Kithkin army is getting blocked by a Hill Giant for example, the Mage just removes him from the equation, allowing both himself and the army to do more damage.
It's not really control at all, because it doesn't stop your opponent from attacking with the removed creature next turn. It's about getting damage through, not preventing it from being dealt.
I'd have to completely disagree with this. I can think of a dozen reasons I'd bounce my own creature in 10th limited (the only format I've been playing recently). It kills Pacifism, Persuasion, Dehydration, beats Rootwater Matriarch, kills their Arcane Teachings and Branchwood Armor, would let you win via sliding out their Platinum Angel, would automatically kill them via [card=Phage the Untouchable[/card], gives you extra Nekrataal uses.....
This card is simply a bomb in limited. It has great synergy with Champion, essentially giving you a gating effect where you can always have one of your creatures phased out. If one of them has a CIP effect, great, if not, you can just flip out the worst defender, or when you've got them outnumbered, swap your beater back in. Not to mention, as in the examples above, it kills off any swingy of your opponent's Auras (I believe one has already been leaked) and neutralizes any enchantment-based removal. Early game this definitely just Stuns +3 damage to the face, but late game its a bomb.
It should also be noted that Pacifism effects are going to be terrible in Lorwyn limited because of Champion. Unless champion is a rare ability, any pacifism would just get booted during your opponent's next main phase.
Ooooooh! One last thing! Champion reads as a word, not a mechanic! That means it's our new Keyword Action!!!!
(Apologies if this was already figured out, I didn't read the whole thread).
For those of you that are complaining about the treefolk and faeries not belonging in black or do not fit the flavour of the set, do yourselves a favour and read the first chapter of the Lorwyn book. We have a dark forest with vines(possibly from a treefolk?) and insects(I am guessing they are actually faeries) attacking the elves.
Go read it, get a feeling for how dark this set could actually turn out to be.
The grammar of the card only works if Champion is a keyword, rather than a keyword action. After a line of keywords, the period is omitted. A keyword action now must be part of a regular sentence, ending with a period (one card in FS doesn't, though). There is no period in the line "Champion an Elf" outside the reminder text. It's always in the details.
It would also be worded "When ~ comes into play, Champion an elf" if it were a keyword action.
If the fairies are of the type seen in the magictutor pictures (This one) then I can see the idea for a Black influence fairy
They remind me of the Gallivespians from Phillip Pullmans "His Dark Materials" series.
Poision, Arrogance and spying make a good black combination.
The main difference seems to be that the Lorwyn Fairies have their own wings where as the Gallivespians ride Dragonflys.
OMG THOSE FAIRIES ARE GOING TO HAVE POISONOUS 1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111eleveeeeennnnn;)
Seriously now, I've usually seen fairies as really selish beings, that avoid at all costs making contact and/or being friendly. so, a blac approach on fairries woudn't be so surprising for me (but a white approach would).

Ah, yes, it appears Mystic Speculation was erratad to have a period; that was my main reasoning ;P Thanks for pointing this out.
As far as Fairies being black, I can totally see it. Many people associate Loki, the norse god of mischief, with fairies. I would have loved Scryb Sprites to be reprinted (maybe they'll colorshift if to blue and call it Mischievous Sprites :P) but I think flavorwise they feel much more blue-black. Can't wait to see more of them, easily my favorite tribe Not to mention, Flying, Flash and Champion a Fairy on one card? Winnage.
Splice onto Arcane was very narrow because only Kamigawa block had arcane spells. However, a great majority of blocks have Goblins. It's really not that narrow.
All I know is that splice onto arcane works, but splice onto goblin never works NOW (Although it used to work... before tribal)
OMG THOSE FAIRIES ARE GOING TO HAVE POISONOUS 1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111eleveeeeennnnn;)
This would be a whole lot of fun if it turns out to be true. It would also explain poison being brought back in Future Sight, and with the recent success of poison Slivers, I don't think anyone would complain.
As far as the idea of black treefolk, I'm getting a real strong Oz vibe. Maybe trees with apple counters that can be removed to do damage to creatures? Okay, probably not.

For all the people complaining about faeries and treefolk in black, it makes sense. Faeries are often mischevious or spiteful in fairy tales or down right evil. Besides souring milk, they kidnap babies. Ever seen the movie Leprechaun? As for treefolk, what's so hard to believe about a tree growing in a swamp? In fact, many of the swamp cards have trees in the artwork. Why shouldn't that swamp tree be mobile?

And is also one of my all-time favorite cards, and possibly my all-time favorite artwork.
But, on topic, i'm looking forward to seeing if the fairies have CIP effects man-o-war style or more like thief of hope, where each one effects the others coming into play. If it's the latter, i'm stocking up on cloudseeders.

As much as I'm against the OTT view that this card is going to solo tournaments, cure cancer and make Susan Boyle attractive I'm not really a fan of the opposing camp who think it slaughters puppies and sired Justin Bieber.
I know they pulled in phat lootz with RAV/INV but come on let multicolor take a break.
I know they are going with the race not class thing, but Im hoping Rebel is the true white tribe, because Kithkins have very little support versus elves, goblins, and merfolk.

Don't you see that the whole aim of Moderators is to narrow the range of thought? In the end we shall make infractions literally impossible, because there will be no words in which to express it. Every concept that can ever be needed, will be expressed by exactly one word, with its meaning rigidly defined and all its subsidiary meanings rubbed out and forgotten.
Actually, I think white treefolk is much harder to imagine than black treefolk. I mean, just look at that mean old tree that tries to eat the hobbits in LoTR. If that is not black I don't know what is. I think a gnarly old mangrove monster seems much more traditional than some goofy "goody two-roots" acacia.
A treefolk from an orchard tree (like an apple tree) could be at least partly white. The domestication of wild plants and animals seems a pretty white concept. I could see white farmers herding a bunch of fruit bearing treefolk around hills, looking for the perfect soil, water, and sunshine.
Black treefolk seem to be teh reanimators of this set. Also green ones. Just like Golgari loved the eternal circle of life and death. And blue digs through the library as with Looter-style cards.
BtW: I LOVE B/U Fae. Think they're becoming my favourite theme in Lorwyn.
I was hoping the color combination cooperation would be opposite-color. This would most certainly indicate the reprinting of the much longed for opposing color fetches. Oh well, maybe next block. I was really hoping it'd be this one though, since it IS Onslaught redux.

Well, the Ents in Two Towers had rather strong views on justice Although that could also be seen as nature's wrath, which would be green.
They were not so much about justice as they were about protecting their forests. They didn't give a damn what went on outside of Fangorn, except maybe the possibility of seeing the Ent-wives again. This seems more green than anything. They only went to war because war came to them at the border of Isengard and Fangorn. However the Hourns (the forest that appeared in the special edition movie near the battle of Helm's Deep that swallowed the remaining Uruk-Hai) would be considiered red-black I think. They seemed full of emotion and uncaring of what they swallowed, this falls along the black-red border, with a hint of green in my eyes.
Of course, this would only mean anything if they were Ents. But these are not ents. They're some sort of Treefolk.

Why did I ever think a signature in comic sans was a good idea?
Deadwood Treekfolk has always seemed to be on the cusp of playability - my guess would be that the wonders of the new inter-block design or whatever it is will allow it to finally shine once Lorwyn comes out. Good times. A midrange Treefolk deck sounds like something I want to play without having any idea of what it is :-).

Even if Lorwyn has minimal Wrath effects, I want to see more 'Caller of the Claw' effects to help with the *** and Damnation ridden environment. And I don't mean just elves, (I've been tired of elves and goblins for a long time now), but for the treefolk, elementals, faeries, etc etc I feel any/all of them could flavorfully fit a token generation effect based off their numbers going into the grave. I wouldn't even mind narrow tribal mass reanimation that triggered off 'put into your graveyard from play'. That's how you truly offset mass hate

How about something like this:
Treefolk Grave Dude 2G
Creature - Treefolk Druid
Whenever this comes into play, you may put a 1/1 Green Saproling token into play for each creature in your graveyard.
Remove a Treefolk card in your graveyard from the game: Saprolings you control get +1/+1 and Trample until end of turn.
2/2
Instead of using it as soon as a Wrath happens, you use it the next turn to 'grow' some Saprolings from the ashes and remains of his fallen comrades.

Nice design, however, as a "treefolk grave dude" he'd be more black. If you flavored him as growing saprolings in the rot of old, fallen trees (making for rich soil and whatnot) then it'd definitely be green. Also, a little undercosted IMO, should be at least 4 mana.
